- The official video of the successful Sydney Flash Mob Freeze staged on June 24th 2008 by the www.sydneyflash... crew, and inspired by Improv Everywhere.
The event attracted over 2,200 'mobbers' to Hyde Park in Sydney at 12:00 midday, and the group was split up across two locations: Martin Place and Pitt Street Mall. After synchronising watches, all participants made their way to their locations and blended in with the general busy daytime public, and at exactly 12:40pm all participants froze mid-pose, and then suddenly re-animated at exactly 12:43.
The event received national news coverage, and thanks to the success of this event we do plan bigger and better things for the future so stay tuned!

FYI: The Sydney Flash Mob team is in no way affiliated with the Sydney arm of the Improv Everywhere global crew or the urban prankster network. We are a different group entirely.

the group did mentioned that it was inspired by ImprovEverywhere (they've given credit to them), they were just impressed by what IE have done, so it does not offend IE by any means at all.

@RaredragonEXZ I hate to be the one that dashes everyone's dreams - but I'd say that dog has been to a taxidermist. Small dog, could have been held in arms prior to make it seem like a living breathing dog. Much more likely than someone training a small dog to stand still in a crowd for 3 minutes... Ockham's razor - the simplest explanation is usually the correct one!?
sign me up as well, just came across this whole flash mob business and would LOVE to be a part of it...kinda like the dance mobs better than the freeze ones but i'd do either!! (and yup, i'm from Van. as well)
I saw a guy doing a backbend! Assuming he held it for three whole minutes, that's crazy. I also like the person with their umbrella blown out upside down. It's cool how everyone did different things.
If you're not affiliated with Improv Everywhere, then why do something EXACTLY like they would do? It's an insult to say you're not part of it, but them clearly steal their idea.
lmao umm was that a real dog.. howd they get the dog to freeze.. that was pretty neat.. I think i would be creeped out if i ran into something like that.
