    Prices shown are what I paid and can obviously change over time.

    Not even a minute in and he calls having real maple syrup 'pretentious.' What went so wrong with society that now the fake stuff is seen as the norm and something natural done the way it's been done for generations is pretentious?

      I had been nothing that too, the natural way is becoming the weird, anti science, or woo woo way, crazy times

      maybe because the sugar crap is a pretty perfect imitation that's much cheaper, much easier to produce, and maybe same nutrition as the real stuff
      and if those assumptions are right, then yeah it would be pretentious to go out of your way and spend more on some "authentic" product but that's inferior, and only really indicates status

    I personally always go for maple syrup and just pick whatever is the cheapest out of all the pure options. Normally I can get a bottle for 15 bucks and the price doesn’t make me regret it.

    There is deff a difference as someone who has made maple syrup. The first time I tried maple syrup the real stuff I fell in love that cheap crap is gross now. My go to is crown you can find it at Walmart but nothing beats real maple syrup mmmmm.

    Much appreciated for making this video.
    I hadn't had maple syrup since i was a kid on a school trap at the fine age of 9. Now i am an adult. And saw my friend was eating some during our picnic. I asked myself. Hmmm what's the difference between cheap vs high quality products.
    So i am doing some research. Order a whole stack of 3 gift set on tbe $27 one.

    Best bang for the buck and flavor is making your own with Mapleline maple extract and sugar and water. 1 cup water, 2 cups sugar, half teaspoon extract. Store it in the fridge and it last forever. 1 pint will cost you less than 50 cents.

      That is like saying that margarine is better bang for your buck than butter. It isn't if you value the taste of butter.

      Mapleline is better tasting than any of the fake syrup cheap stuff from the store. I'll put it right up there with the 100% pure maple syrup.

      @JohnSmith-oe5kx lol, you've never tried it. Trust me, it tastes like the expensive stuff and you can make 24 pints for 5 bucks plus whatever sugar costs. Which is not much.

      @@mattparker2323 Trust me, it doesn't. It might taste close enough to you. You are like someone with no appreciation for wine insisting that the wine at your corner store is just as good.

    surprised you didnt opt for the sugar syrup since its so much cheaper and watcing this, sounds like the sugar stuff accurately imitates maple syrup, and then the only difference between brands is getting some more woodier/lighter tastes - and cost

    • @JohnSmith-oe5kx
      @JohnSmith-oe5kx 2 місяці тому +1

      Sugar syrup is not anything close to maple syrup. It is like saying that margarine "accurately imitates" butter.

    • @cate01a
      @cate01a 2 місяці тому

      @@JohnSmith-oe5kx i mean for me yeah margarine imitates butter well atleast for a sandwhich
      and i tried sugar v real syrup, though the real syrup was in a glass jar, not a can which i hear is far superior, but in that comparison could barely taste a difference
      when you talk about maple syrup do you mean the high quality can stuff, or in general any maple syrup even the stuff in glass containers?

    • @JohnSmith-oe5kx
      @JohnSmith-oe5kx 2 місяці тому +1

      @@cate01a Maple syrup in a can is not superior to syrup in a jar. The fanciest syrups are bottled in glass, but most of that is about marketing.
