You should get some clean-room "Chem-Wipes" for you future engine building. They don't leave any fibers behind like a shop rag will. Great for bearings, cams/cranks etc.
That's to cool you got his a pro and very knowledgeable it's always good to have that help. Plus to learn from and you can pass those skills on down the road. Not gonna lie I learned a few things here, I didn't know about the water temp scanner tool.
I wonder what goes through people's mind when they dislike a video like this. What's there to dislike?? The guy exudes positive energy and makes fun content.
Ofc you can put ACL race bearings, they just have higher tolerance value which covers all colors/grades of OEM bearings. Typical ACL (or actually all aftermarket) bearings just have tolerances set a bit more loose, but we are still talking 0.0xx values. Not in mind it's depending on engine builder prefference, and so on. Not saying you are doing it wrong, but "standard" ACL bearings would do their job as fine as OEM bearings, also race bearings are usually tri-metal and have higher wear and seizure ressistance, while most of oem are just bi-metal. Not to mention with all new stuff and technology, they have polymer coating etc. while most of OEM bearings for those beloved 20-30 years old engines are technically outdated. And with freshly built motor with good oil, there is enough oil pressure to run oil film fine with that looser aftermarket bearings. And ACL/King race bearings are used from slightly tuned SRs and other engines, through 1000hp JZ, 2500hp GT-Rs and TopFuel dragsters which have over 10k hp (but they got rebuild engine every one run so that doesn't really matter).
something about japanese people they jus seem so much more friendly than people over here in the US the vibes seem so much more peaceful im so jealous of u sam 😂😂😂😫
Awhile back i had mentioned doing exactly what you did with talking to the kid with the s13 in your car meet videos. I know it can be awkward but look how happy he was to talk about his cool car.
I love these vids...get a little bit of knowledge and then going to DKK PA is always my favorite time too! Like a sub said below, love it when you engage a car owner and they are hyped to talk about their car.
Honda does the same thing with it's bearing sizes, which it kills me inside how I never see anyone in the Honda community ever use the correct method for sizing them. Everyone slaps a set of one-size-fits-all ACL or King bearings in their Honda engine and then they wonder why their builds don't last.
That makes sense cause when I built mine I ordered a full bearing kit. I didn't end up using what I first ordered. I had to get another main and rod set
what oil are you running in your sr's. your main tolerances are tighter than what we see in canada. we usually run .038-.048 with valvoline vr1 20w50 oil
If the s15 is feeling down on power/pulling timing, check the knock sensor. Common issue people don't understand, but if the sensor is dodgey, the ECU pulls timing as a safety measure, but makes the engine feel like its down on boost/laggy below 4,000rpm. Seen lots of people spending $ chasing issues that doesn't solve anything and its the knock sensor.
Brahh you serious . By that comment alone tells me you have never been in real speed shops . My buddy builds race motorcycle engines that rev to 15k rpm in basically the same conditions . His personal race bike 3 seasons still going strong . About to rebuild it this weekend .
@@Vgk36 The shops i have been in are spotless. The shops i have been in don't put the rods and pistons on scales and because they weigh the same think they are balanced. They also use micrometers and dial bore gauges not plastigauge. And i don't care about your mate's motorbike engines BRAH.
hire a car! Taxi's can't come pick you up when you want to go home & you get stuck. You can't leave the PA with out a car either. So don't make this mistake, I've had to take people to closest train station who get stuck & never did research a fair few times. It's really frustrating cause not even the police will help them or let them walk out of the PA through their station to walk to the bus stop on the other side. It's dumb >.
@@SAMMIT Thanks for this! Ive been to Japan twice, and have regretted not coming to the car meets, but after seeing your vids, i wont make the same mistake a third time!
19:25 more interactions like this when you are on Daikoku PA :)

If I'm not mistaken. Yuta is his okachans son?
@@gmula1987 Sam said back when Yuta started that he is a son of a friend of Okachan (if I remember correctly)
The kiddo-"exhausted from a day full of cool stuff"-smile at the end - guess ye slept nicely after that!
I’m saving all these videos for future reference! Thank you Sammit and Oka-chan for sharing the knowledge

The Japanese are truly a different breed when it comes to auto making. I love my r32 GTST for that. Some people just don’t understand
Just love to see Japan through Sam's eyes, its such a cool experience
Possibly the best shop on earth to be rebuilding an SR within.
Hell yeah brother
love some Nissan FSM action!! I did this was my VG30 back in like 2001. glad to know nothing much has changed. :)

I went to my first ever car meet today and it was incredible!!!!
hope it stays that way for ya man. my local meets suck lol
Nice! Just please please please be safe and courteous and avoid those stupid "takeover" events. They aren't good and give car people a bad name.
@@MegaHzz what he said. don't get it to that crap man
Awesome Sam happy for ya great engine build!
The dirt on the bearing size lookup table works like a heat-map, you can see which bearing sizes are most common by how dirty the cell is haha.
Nice detailed video on the engine build love it
Yuta- my silent hero 😁👍
Hi from nz, Awesome upload sam, blardy brilliant 🙏
Stay safe over there Sam.🙏
ahh i love seeing ma manz yuta

Ever thought of using a head- and maybe a chest-mounted gopro or something while assembling/wrenching things thus freeing up both hands?

Sam - give us the lowdown on that pink little hot rod under tarps in the shop. What's the story on that thing? Looks like it has a V8 in it.
Looks like a legends series road car. Not sure the specs on okachans, but most are built for spec racing. Pretty cool racing series to watch!
I see everyone has the intercooler blocked by the license plate. Is it illegal in Japan to mount the license plate on the side?
great question and I would also like to know

Quick question about the sizing of the shirts, I’m a small but there’s only L and XL, do I need to wait for the next drop for my size?
And also I love how in detail Sam gets when building his cars I learned so much from him, can’t wait to start my drift journey

What's the difference between "front bar" and "front bumper"?
Not balancing the rotating assembly, using plastigauge and putting an engine together in filthy conditions is the Japanese way is it?
