I’ve formed the habit of publishing all the names of my supporters simply because I appreciate your appreciation of my work, and I want to recognize each one of you personally. But, unfortunately, UA-cam allows a limited number of characters for the description, and I cannot fit all names anymore. So, this is my message to each one of my supporters personally:
THANK YOU!

Amy, you deserve all the good things that you receive. Soon, you will need a large storage area!
It’s so nice to see how much Amy is admired & appreciated.
So excited! Rick Wakeman is quite eccentric. I've met two other people in my circles that love Journey T t C o t Earth as much! My exes hated it. I usually put on my favourite two songs now, but love it! There is film of it live with two singers, narrator and all. Old world meets space age synthesizer. I'm grateful to have seen him with Yes in the early 90s in Quebec City. I really hope you enjoy! Ps, he does an hour long doc on Vivaldi I really liked.
Piano Portraits by Rick Wakeman is a favorite CD of mine. His knack for playing popular music “in the style of (insert classical composer here)” is very entertaining. He has lived a life worthy of his multiple autobiographies. He just completed a short solo tour in the NE of USA, and is now touring in South America. The window to see Rick live is closing as the years roll by. Thank goodness for concert DVDs. To your Aussie benefactor, good on you.
Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Magnificent! A firm favourite since its release. By the way, the piano player on David Bowie's Life on Mars is Rick Wakeman, who also wrote the piano lines.
And the piano on Cat Stevens’ Morning has Broken.
@@pbwbrian53I didn’t know that that. Thank you! 😁👍
How about "The Six Wives of Henry VIII"?😵
Hi Amy, you'll find a surprise on Wakeman's "Journey's" last track (The Forest), since I've been listening to classical music a lot since 2020, finally could solve the mystery. I was always like "this sounds like something me dad had on his LPs collection".
The analysis of "She Loves You" is mine - I hope you find it worthy.
And Brian Eno is a deep, deep dive - going in diverse directions! "Another Green World", "Apollo" and "The Plateaux of Mirrors" are three of my favorite albums.
I wish you continued enjoyment on your journey.
I've had a chance to look through the analysis today, and I am truly impressed. I told Vlad "This is a legitimate study of the piece!"
@@VirginRock Much appreciated. Having recently retired, I just started a Substack (mostly music related). I hope to post this analysis soon once I embed some audio for those with less music theory background. Very much enjoying your journey!
I'll cop to being the one who sent you the books. (Never tell an English professor you enjoy reading; you'll appreciate all the books now, but you'll curse my name the next time you have to move.) Eno's _Ambient 1: Music for Airports_ is too far removed from the Virgin Rock channel's purpose for you to listen to on here, but it's an important work for understanding the shaping of music since its release in 1978, and it was very highly influential on some artists you've already listened to. I hope you're able to get to the disco book before your next Queen filming, because it should help you understand the popular appeal of one of the next Queen songs you're about to listen to (and one of the Pink Floyd songs you've already listened to).
Well, thank you Sean!
I would choose "Another Green World" as the most influential of Brian Eno albums - though I deeply love many of them. "Sky Saw" is a great, amusing commentary on the structure of popular music - with mischievous lyrics concerning how some people might listen to it (the lyrics themselves being quite obscured at the end of the piece). So many other pieces are just beautiful.
'Hot Stuff Disco' .. very nice .. can't wait till you react to Donna Summer :)

Hey Amy. I`m a diehard Queen fan and I found you just a couple of days ago. I love your channel, its fascinating into how much detail you go in... But one thing has stuck with me: When you did your "We are the Champions" reaction, you mentioned multiple times how much more complex compared to "We will rock you" it is. While youre completely correct in that, of course, you associated Brian May so much with this one song he wrote purely for the crowd... So I think you`ll have to hear the other side of Brian May songs: I have not found a "Who wants to live forever" reaction on your channel and I think it could be a song that you would LOVE to analyse, as I have many times in the past. It is so different to anything else I`ve ever heard and so pretty while doing that, with such a special feeling to it, I think you`d love it. Thanks for your videos! Brightens my day :)
Big Queen fan here too . Loving and following Amy’s reactions. She in chronological going through the albums. Going four or so sing each . We just got to The Game. I’m sure she will do WWTLF when she gets there. Also looking forward to that one.
@@sionhewitt375 Oh actually? I didnt know that, thank you! Not particularly excited for some of the stuff on Hot Space... As much as I love Under Pressure, the rest of the album is lackluster for Queen Standards in my opinion, sadly. Anyways, thank you for letting me know!
@@DualityofLife yeah Hot Space will be odd. I do like Las Palabras DAmor though. Highly recommend looking beck through UA-cam and see her previous Queen reaction’s.
@@sionhewitt375 Oh I have and now I cant wait for new ones :) Las Palambras de amor will be better than most songs on the album, but the rest will be eh...... The flash will also be a little cursed, commerce didnt suit their style at all, in my humble opinion.
@@sionhewitt375 also Id love to see some live reaction stuff but thats probably gonna come after the albums :( They were just unmatchable live.
Eno's probably more fun to listen to than read; try Another Green World as well.
Love your show, listened to rock music all my life. Nice to revised old classics and get a hole new perspective, thank you ❤
Alright!! There will be some Eno in Amy's future it seems! So much to explore there.
I got into Eno for the first time just after covid. Needed relaxing background music to wfh. But really loved his music. So good.
@@sionhewitt375 "Reflections" may be my favorite Ambient album for relaxation.
@@sionhewitt375 Much as I love Eno's ambient music eg Music For Airports, Discrete Music, Late October with Harold Budd, Day Of Radiance with Laraaji, it's Eno's more rock oriented stuff I love best ie the sacred four albums of the 70s Here Comes The Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy, Another Green World & Before And After Science that really send me to the moon - widely and rightly acclaimed as pure genious indeed pure scenious!
@@mikemcelroy3204 May need to give the rockier stuff a listen then !
@@sionhewitt375 Another Green World and Before And After Science have some kind of ambient tracks on them so that would be the place to start. Cheers!!
I do most of my reading right before getting into bed in a low-lit room with the light behind me. It helps me sleep.
Ah yes, Rick Wakeman - rock keyboardist extraordinaire! His humble beginnings with the Strawbs, then bursting forth with YES, and his many other serious contributions to other bands and works, plus solo works as well. Here is a taste of both the beauty of Strawbs and Wakeman's prowess:
ua-cam.com/video/8uc5GJYSKmk/v-deo.html ( Strawbs - A Glimpse Of Heaven )
And the first 30 seconds of this dark and visceral song is a Wakeman signature sound on the Hammond B3:

Your channel is so delightful, thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I have a suggestion for a cover song - Patti Smith’s version of Smells Like Teen Spirit - with banjo! She does a fine job of honoring the song. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Love the Viewer Mail background music!
Amy, you've heard the great Rock/Progressive Rock keyboardist Rick Wakeman already. He was in the band Yes. You reviewed their 19 minute piece Close to the Edge, 10 months ago.
AND, Amy has promised us (me, in particular) an IN DEPTH ANALYSIS of CttE... 10 months ago, now??? Such a long wait, it's driving close to the edge... i might lose it soon... hurry, Amy!
Wow That makes me want to send you a little something! 😂❤
I open my mail the same way. It brings me joy to see faces cringe because I'm not opening from the side 😊
Why do they cringe? Are we really doing it wrong?
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that opens my mail along the top using my finger. My mother always used to give me a hard time over it. She was a firm believer in using a letter opener with a clean cut along the top. I wouldn't be overly concerned with spoiling songs from CDs you receive. Sure you should probably steer clear of Greatest Hits CDs and important albums from popular artist, but I would hate for you to have to completely cut yourself off from contemporary music. While preferable, there is no hard set rule that every reaction has to be a first reaction. For me your reaction and thoughts on a piece are what is most important, not necessarily if it is the first time you have heard it. Although I'm sure some disagree.
Lee, people such as yourself really need to listen to your mothers (you have more than one?) more... Letter openers all the way... Do you want a paper-cut that could lead to encephalitis?
I mean, Lee, would you run around the house waving a pair of scissors around? Would you go outside in the cold without a COAT??? Do you have a death wish?
Listen to your mother if you want to stay alive!!!
(I think your mom and my mom would have gotten along just fine - based on the letter-opener incident alone!)
you´re done with Wakeman record and Eno´s book... felicitaciones!
Lovely gifts Amy.
Going with joy. Take my joy with you - I'll send you a piece of music (traditional folk music) This woman who leads this orchestra is Estonian and she bathes in this lovely music!
Love your vlogs 🎉 please explore more Genesis ❤
Yeah! Before Phil became lead singer, please, please, please!
My Friend Mark(Shoestring) Died...He LOVED Life...
A bit of a dilemma there. It's much cheaper to mail a CD than to arrange for a commission. 😉😁
Please do a video review the rick wakeman CDs- i love his work. Peace to you.
Amy, are you familiar with the Harpist, Pianist, Mother, Wife etc etc Alice Coltrane?? You must hear her newest release: Live at Carnegie Hall..I think as a Harpist you will fall in Love
I would love for you to react to something from Angelina Jordan. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I should recommend. It looks like you are primarily interested in studio recordings of original works, although I see you have recently reacted to a couple of live covers, so… hmm…
Angelina is currently 18 years old (but don't hold that against her😉). She has been singing since she was literally a baby. Her public career goes back to just before she turned 8. It looks like you do a little research on artists before you react to them, so I'll leave the rest of her backstory for you to discover on your own.
She has literally hundreds of covers to choose from, many of which are of extremely high quality (if you ask me). By far the most popular choice for first-time AJ reactions is her studio version of "I Put a Spell on You" (black-and-white video on her official UA-cam channel), which she recorded when she was 9. I don't want to come off like a crazed fan, or anything, but I can honestly say, it's one of the best covers of that song I've ever heard (and I would say the only "convincing" cover that is directly inspired by the way the original songwriter and performer, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, would sing it - in fact, I think it's a good idea to [re]familiarize yourself with one of his renditions of the song before you hear Angelina's take on it).
Since you have reacted to Queen a lot, you might be interested in her refactored version of "Bohemian Rhapsody", which she originally performed on _America's Got Talent: The Champions_ when she was 13. The most popular upload of that is a video that just passed 100M views, but some people have problems with reactions to that getting blocked (it is really the best version, though). Alternatively, you could look for her studio recording of the song or any of a handful of other live versions she did subsequently (all of which are easy to find with a search).
Turning to her originals, she has a little over a dozen of those, in a variety of genres (most of which are a bit hard to pin down). Her "home genre" is jazz, and much of her output has at least a tinge of jazz in it, even if it's only apparent in the vocals.
Her first originals for which she came up with both the music and lyrics were recorded when she was 11 with a large military band (The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces, or Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps); those are "Oslo" ua-cam.com/video/6PsVu4iNmX0/v-deo.html (an audio-only upload that's hard to find without a direct link) and "What Is Life" (lyric video easy to find on her official channel). There is also a significantly more popular "acoustic" version of the latter song that she recorded at home with a pianist and guitarist; it's right next to the lyric video in her "videos" tab. If you react to her, you'll have many people listing and linking to the rest of her originals (and giving you more of her backstory than you ever wanted to know😊).
I feel like I should say more, but I'll leave it there. I hope you will consider reacting to her. I think she is well worth checking out.
I think it would be okay to say the given names without giving too much away!
Enjoy the gifts Amy.
Vlad is wrong 😂
Just stumbled on this channel and have been binging on the first time listens (love it). I was wondering what songs have moved you (this community). I’ll put a twist on it and say I was first moved by a classical piece upon my first listen:

Sorry ma'am, but I think you're a little bit too surprised in the picture for receiving something through mail.
You must not be in the US if you got mail.
