After catching a few of your videos, this one got me to hit Subscribe. I am very dyslexic and in my 50s now and never had the chance to learn languages at school. Dyslexia wasn't recognised when I was at school, I got tested at age 25. I love watching you and other people speaking different languages, I am watching shows and listening to music from China, Japan, Korea more in the last year than I ever have before and I am really enjoying immersing myself in other peoples culture. I just wish I had started 30+ years ago!!

I agree! Being able to speak someone's language in an unfamiliar place can instantly create a bond between people. I had a very memorable experience when I went to Rhodes on vacation with my family a few years ago. One day I went on a walk by myself and I met an old man on top of a small mountain overlooking the hotel I stayed in who could speak my native language. We had a fun and interesting conversation about his life and travels and I think it it was the highlight of my trip and something I'll remember forever.

Well, that is all right. It will rise and rise in due course because of your real love for your Chinese language and culture. Just go with the flow... Do what you love. you should visit some Chinese restaurants around where you live, ask in Chinese to see the menu then sit down and just order tea so that you don't have to eat, make conversation with the staff and Chinese guests if they compliment your language skills and then you can visit other restaurants doing the same thing without getting your stomach full lol
It's the last video I haven't seen yet, now it's done. I don't speak englisk well or chinese at all but love those video. IRL one are even better. Waiting for new ones now :D Congrats from France (Trying to perform english, spanish, portuguese and learning Russian), next chinese maybe.
I like both, but the onegle videos are really entertaining, plus on onegle people are looking to have conversations, some people might not have too much time to talk to you while they're working

There's no doubt there's an unfair imbalance in the reactions I get for my decent mandarin...compared to many many many Chinese in the UK who have stunning English and don't get an eye flutter. That fact recognised though I'm still gonna enjoy chatting with people, surprising them and making them happy 😁
Not meant as a criticism at all! But there's something unhealthy to demand total assimilation in some places. Speaking each another's language really opens up important unshared communality don't you say?@@BritishJackTalks
