He is too healthy looking to be a hungry stray... living in Guatemala, dogs have mange and you can count all their ribs. No way he could have survived that winter. Perhaps he came from a nearby home that did not give him any love, but did give him food. Love how he holds his ears up!
yeah but that's in the city. looks like he was out in the country a bit so he likely was able to catch food here or there. i wouldn't be surprised if other people fed him too since this likely wasnt the only couple looking to adopt him.
No its definitely possible it is also seen with cats, they are just very skilled in finding prey and sleeping spots. We have had a cat who was a stray but his weight was fine, and survived a lot of winters out in the cold, if there is enough food (squirrels, wild rabbits etcetera) they look fed, but most of the time arent!
My dog would be perfectly fine outdoors, infact we keep her on leash so she doesn’t go hunting and catch the wildlife - which she’s able to easily if she’s given the chance.

That clever dog is running a scam. He has a "winter family" out there somewhere feeding him too. He's probably done this with multiple families. Smart boy!
We brought in a stray cat when I was a kid named Skitty (because we was skittish). My dad used to call him "Skitty the Seven Dinner Kitty" because he would hit up all the houses in the neighborhood. As for Scooby, I doubt anyone else was able to connect with him like this family. They were putting out food and visiting him, which is probably why he's so healthy looking. I wouldn't be surprised though if others in the neighborhood were leaving food/shelter out.

Unfortunately some sad family is missing their dog tonight. Did they even attempt looking to see where it came from or where it was going all that time? @@Hotbottumz While I see your point, a year was spent trying to get the dog to come anywhere near them and the couple said that it is typical for people to dump their unwanted dogs in that area and I'm thinking when they took it to the vet that the vet more than likely checked the dog for a chip...

@Lalalola I don't think the length of his coat means anything. Some dogs have coat that just doesn't grow. Like most chihuahuas and pitbulls. And this dog looks like a pitbull mix.
@@chelseas.horizon2222 The coat matters. Where I live, the winters are brutal and most people who have short-haired dogs here put a fleece/coat and slippers (when it’s snowy and icy) on their dogs. These short-dogs who are not evolved for cold weather (lacks a double coat/ dense longer fur or hair/ fur between toes) don’t fair well out in the cold for long periods of time. Dogs that would fair well would be a Siberian Huskie or Alaskan Malmute.

@@totobeni or most likely, this whole video is a lie for YT money. a lot of these pet videos people are clearly stretching the truth. listen to guy talk " i cant believe hes in here, its been a year!" nobody talks like that lol

It breaks my heart to think of him outside in the snow all winter. God bless you for never giving up on him.
Him being so scared is so bad. Even a stray comes to people a lot quicker.
lol here it's someones dog and he is just shy of strangers and they stole him
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep Well, they're not hiding him, that's for sure. But he does look like he's someone else's pup--he's well-fed and in good shape, so he seems well-cared for. But evidently he's not wearing any tags/ID, so there's that... At 0:08, the guy says the dog was "starving-looking", but I see no evidence of that.

Poor thing. Anyone who dumps animal like this are cold hearted. Glad this little fighter made it on to a great life.
He look like a healthy boy definitely not starved someone has to feed that dog.
Them. Or it could be a recent drop off
Not a chance that dog just spent an entire winter, outside and alone rummaging through garbage in a spacious, wealthy neighborhood. No bloody way. He was inside somewhere and being fed.
They found him when he was around 6 months then fed him until he came home so when they met him he probably wasnt eating. He did look underweight for his size
I follow them on tiktok and they said on there that they would take a bowl of food for him down to the edge of the woods everyday.
Well, if they're out in the far suburbs, or even rural, he could be fending for himself. Used to have a lab that seemed to be able to find and catch things pretty easily, the few times he got away up at the cottage, when I was a kid.
Beautiful dog. Thank you Joe and Maria for caring for him. It looks like the real break through was when Scooby and your dog become friends. I'm glad Scooby had a good home now and good humans.
For a stray dog, Scooby looks well fed. Someone must've been feeding him during the winter.
I think the people filming had been feeding him

People who abuse animals in general will have their day eventually
yea i doubt it, most cases of pet abandonment/abuse probably never see the light of day. people get away with this sort of thing all the time, hence why its still a prevalent problem. WE have to make them have their day. Cant wait on hopes and dreams to implement justice in this world.

I love how it kind of seems like their house dog sort of brokered the deal. Like it approached Scooby and said "seriously dude, they are nice hoomins, they give pets, they give treats, they give rubs", then Scooby was like "okay if you vouch for them, I mean they seem nice so far and I want to believe it could be true."
The change in his attitude was obvious. He went from, "I can't stay with them," to, "I CAN stay with them."
Thank you to the people, to whoever dedicates their lives to helping these animals. Seriously god bless you
Brings a whole new meaning to dog grooming. Some poor family just had their guard dog stolen.

nawh this video just a scam, thats the cleanest dog ive ever seen

We brought in a stray cat when I was a kid named Skitty (because we was skittish). My dad used to call him "Skitty the Seven Dinner Kitty" because he would hit up all the houses in the neighborhood. As for Scooby, I doubt anyone else was able to connect with him like this family. They were putting out food and visiting him, which is probably why he's so healthy looking. I wouldn't be surprised though if others in the neighborhood were leaving food/shelter out.
thats affirmative🤣😂🤣😂!!!
Someone definitely offered him shelter and food throughout the winter. He looks in very good condition when he re-appeared.
This family fed him throughout winter. :)
Knowing that there’s people out there that are capable of hurting or abusing any animal is just heartbreaking. But knowing that there are kind loving proper people like this is heart warming! ❤️
i mean i hate to nit pick but everyone should be capable to hurt an animal, for the sake of survival or self defense.
That dog is being fed by someone else. He’s got two families.
The title does say, 'Couples' ...
That’s what I thought too. He wasn’t skin and bone, especially because he was away all over winter. He has a home already
That dog wasn't a stray he looked well fed think story is a bit far fetched.
Unfortunately some sad family is missing their dog tonight. Did they even attempt looking to see where it came from or where it was going all that time? I feel it’s selfish to take it upon yourselves to assume the dog was a stray at keep it without even trying to find if it had a family. That could have been some child’s dog.
@@Hotbottumz While I see your point, a year was spent trying to get the dog to come anywhere near them and the couple said that it is typical for people to dump their unwanted dogs in that area and I'm thinking when they took it to the vet that the vet more than likely checked the dog for a chip...
Say what they gave no special thanks to Samson he brought Scooby into the house My thanks go to Samson!
Right!? Samson really sealed that line of trust for them all
First thing I thought too.
They should have brought Samson into the picture much earlier.

I heard this couple before this video, had been feeding the dog for months and that's why he looks so healthy. They left blankets and cushions for him outside too for Scooby in winter until they gained his trust. It took a year for this dog to trust his new parents, Kudos for these people for having so much patience and determination to give his forever home.

he's someone's dog, evidence by the winter disappearance and reappearance in the spring.
I thought so too. When he "disappeared", he went home.
Either way, hope he's doing okay. Kinda feel bad for his other owners, but then again, I wonder if they aggressively started looking for him once these nice folks took him inside.

*This dog is stunning and doesn't seem like a stray at all. His muscular build is impressive, and those ears are fantastic. Also, I'm really enjoying the grand appearance of the house, resembling a large historic Bed and Breakfast.*
Someone must've given him food to eat over the Winter, because he looked almost well fed.
They gave him food over the winter. I follow them on tiktok. He was sleeping in the woods on their property so they just left food out by the woods for him
Love his ears! My son's now departed Boston Terrier would make his ears like batman when excited.

A gorgeous dog and a wonderful couple. I hope they have a long, happy life together. This has been a great ‘feel good’ video to watch in these Corona virus days, and I send my very best wishes, from England, to all people who help animals in distress.
Same here from the UK.
I love how some people can be so nice and just let a dog enter their house and them making him their pet.
Who could leave a beautiful dog like that?
He looks awfully well fed and clean for having been a stray for all that time.
By world standard he does look gorgeous.
By American standard he is starved as long as he can walk on his own.
Folks mustve been living food out, I wonder were he would bunker down the colder months. Glad he made it and found a home.
The "starving" dog was muscled like a young Mr. T. As long as nobody's missing him, I'm glad he has a good home.
I agree with you I think that dog was living inside his house for the winter as a pet. Lost starving dogs don't look like they hit the gym everyday. Then after the winter he ventured out again and this people 'rescued' him. Not saying is a bad thing but I think out there could be sad owner looking for his dog
I just hope he really was a stray. He looked well fed and healthy
He said that area was known to have people dump dogs. Perhaps because it's a wealthy neighborhood. Otherwise a responsible human wouldn't let their dog roam free like that.
I guess they also bathed and groomed him after winter, seeing how he's completely clean after being "outside" for an entire year
Dealing with the same, people can be so cruel. All animals deserve the best love
These are the types of humans that should be in this world 🌎❤️
Most humans are generous kind hearted but you can't get that from everyone.
