  • Two steam locomotives headed northbound on the Stafford to Crewe section of the WCML within fifteen minutes of each other on Wednesday 27 November 2019.
First past the camera, at Searchlight Lane, near Norton Bridge, was Locomotive Services Ltd. owned LMS Royal Scot No. 46100 'Royal Scot' on a loaded test run, 5420 Coton Hill to Crewe HS, the second leg of the usual Crewe - Chester - Shrewsbury - Wolverhampton - Crewe circuit, with four Mk 1 carriages and class 37 No. 37667 (D6851).
Then followed 5Z43, Ian Riley's LMS Black 5 No. 45407 'Lancashire Fusilier' returning to Bury from Southall.
As an intro, there is a brief clip of the throaty roar of a Freightliner class 70 No. 70001 on a container service from Felixstowe to Crewe, accelerating it's train up the incline.

A couple of nice captures there Rob, glad you didn't get wet as it looks a bit exposed there. Cheers Brian.

Thank you Brian. Yes, lucky with the weather; it started raining just as I got back to the car!
