I really appreciate any extra help a youtuber gets. Thank you for your connection with Richard. He is a very down to Earth man.
You have the ingredients for a fantastic YT-show, yet you manage to produce a series of short videos where you only show the boring stuff that everyone normally just skips over: the introduction, the sponsors, then a little bit of cleaning an already clean interior and the final speech. And not even letting us hear the exhaust you fitted.
I would love to see actually stuff happening to these Jags, the x308 XJR is one of my favourite cars of all time. I think quite a few people can relate to my thouhts.
(I know many people have said similar things already, but after leaving a thumbs-down I feel like I owe an explanation so you would know what is actually the problem).
Yes, because who doesn’t like a Jaaaaaaaaaagggg?
Richard coldest music walk ever!!
Exhaust clamps should have their fasteners on the side or on top, to increase ground clearance and reduce the possibility of them snagging on something.
But otherwise I'll take the XJR over even modern F-type and definitely the XKR. The J-series looks like a proper Jag.
Keep the videos flowing my Scottish brother.
i love a Jaaag
Living the dream dude!
I have to point out that the front bumper is not straight , Have a look at the off side just in front of the wheel .
And also as others have pointed we would like to see more of the work being done not just before and after .
I have 4.0 xjr and xkr great cars nice balance between classic and modern . But my mig welder has too work hard
Can Richard see over the steering wheel of that car ? 😂
I’m surprised they didn’t try the dry ice blasting
Excellent another Drivetribe video about the Jagggg🤣
How much would all this work cost roughly??
It’s odd seeing Richard being a boss. Who does he think he is? 😅
Myself likes this jag.
Fantastic episode! ❤️❤️❤️
Exhaust like “Autoalex”
Don’t put exhaust clamps at the bottom of the pipes
Do they do subframe mounts whilst it’s down?
Why are you guys so warmly dressed, there is no heating in the workshop?
A little disappointed in that video, just a big add for cleaning supplies, didn't even get to hear the sound of the car - really???
"A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes!"
Yes ! ALL of it! These videos always feel like either the first 5 or last 5 minutes of a real show and theyre always making me want to SEE this show that doesn't exist.
I dont see a point of these videos, where previous one was showing rusted out parts and then its all fixed in next one... most of this video was either chit-chat or product placement then maybe a minute of them putting new exhaust on. I wanna see all the work being done (like on other car channels)
Its 13 mins...not much
@@wUFr It's possible that content is being used on the Smallest Cog TV show.
I agree massively. Listening to Andrew describe all the meticulous work being done to it and getting to see none of it (or what little work was shown was a quick montage with music played over it) was greatly disappointing.
@@TougeSolo TV show which is not even available worldwide (I believe it's UK only) and I'm not gonna pay for yet another streaming service... It would be better if they had tiny shed and try to fix it there, if they can't do it at cog workshop and record it
A ten minute video of some cleaning. And a tiny little bit at the end of fitting an exhaust we don't even get to listen to. I get the feeling this Chanel is becoming more about the sponsorship deals and income over the cars themselves
Well lol, they are loosing money they got to do something
And on that note I’m gonna Unsubscribe!
I do wonder about the quality particularly after the mondeo project
@@ezrafiroz8662 id rather they gave up than showed us 10 mins of autoglym being sprayed on a car
I have seen kids better at cleaning than that pratt
Turn.... Those.... Exhaust clamps... 😳 Just 90 degrees and they're out of harm's way.
tack weld them too so they dont move as well.
Well it woulda been nice to see all the work being done not just completed and installed.
thats so you cant see the corners cut....
Agreed. Half the video is sponsor stuff
True, but also with it being an actual business, a lot of work needs to be done to move the Jag forwards, no matter if the camera crew is present or not. Kinda frustrating, but unfortunately, not much we can do about it.
@@ljphoenix4341 i have been successfully running a restoration buissenes for 20 years and we ALWAYS take pictures and videos for the customers. and im NOT a film crew.
@@jasonstalder5208 and would people tune in to your videos on YT? Doubt yours have the visual quality of these!
I think we need to tally up the hours that Mike has worked on Richard‘s car, and the hours that Richard has worked on Mike’s car, there needs to be a little balance there.
I think I know the answer for the second one xD
@Autoalex knows an exhaust guy 😉
You should get James May with his small brushes to get the car properly detailed
James would do a fine job but take a long time while telling us several books’ worth of stories about jags, car detailing tools, methods, cleaning products, etc…
@@patrickcannady2066 And his pet spanner steven.
@@patrickcannady2066 So not only would the car look even more amazing but we'd get several hours of James faffing about while storytelling? Where's the downside?
@@patrickcannady2066 Well, I could watch that for as many episodes as he could produce.
I love how XJs have always looked. Like an expensive pen. A wild cat but also an elegant and sleek design.
Theses drivetribe videos are an awful let down.
Don't watch then 🙄
@@CustomiZe_ When I seen the title I thought they might have showed some of the work gone into the car but after this video I’ve realised the content is not for me an unsubscribed so I’ll not be watching anymore but if they monitor the comments they will realise I’m not the only one who feels this way and they could make much better content by just showing the work
"Richard's a great boss." moment made me laugh.
why is james never on the channel anymore? and will jeremy ever show up again 😅
hammond's walkout was epic! I love the songs/editing in these!
Can't wait for the finale of both jaaags! Please let James May have a Cog segment restoring a Dacia Sandero please, but it would somehow be 5 hours long as he would describe every process and history of every part...
I spotted a fundamental school boy error. Never fit exhaust clamps on the bottom of the exhaust pipe, always fit them in the vertical, with the head of the bolt at the bottom of the vertical. This prevents the exhaust being forcibly removed by a speed bump.
Sorry for my ignorance, but I just can´t understand the decision of having no heating in the "smallest coq" workshop. I am restoring or rebuilding 1 or 2 cars a year for fun in my workshop and although it is a huge investment I have to have it insulated and heated. Nothing works in the cold - batteries of the tools, glues, paint. Plastic is brittle, most of the presented spray cans won´t spray anything anywhere after a day left in the cold and you can´t even take a measure of an enginebore. Although it is nice to watch I would have saved the money for the Jaaaaag and increased the comfort for the team. Maybe more screenworthy cars will appear afterwards...
I initially thought the same... But I can only imagine the reason heaters weren't running is they are too noisy to film with them on. But yeah, run them, turn them off, shoot for 30 minutes, turn them back on! Shrug.
Surprisingly crude painting job on those calipers, but the rest is great!
Yeah, I also noticed immiadiatly.. Greetings from the Netherlands
This week on DriveTribe, Mike cleans a car
"I'll go for another lunch."
Confirmation that Richard Hammond is, in fact, a hobbit.
Just a couple of guys jagging off
Would of been nice to have heard it running with the new exhaust on.
*have
@@cenciende9401 would of works just as well
Not sure what I expected when I subscribed, but this is not it. So far it’s mostly about it what I want, what I done, with no actual ‘doing’ videoed. Pity
Yep - having watched a few drivetribe vids this oensadly even seemed to make Richard look uncomfortable about the advert tlside of things - maybe just me
Loved the slow motion Richard Hammond entry, badass gangster music and all ended by a "You'll'rite?" friendly greeting.
Clinton Baptiste vibes
You need to get Autoalex on here too with his Jaaaaag. A 3 way race.
Mike, I don't want to burst your bubble, BUT I agree with Richard on that. The XJR IS the better car. Don't get me wrong, BOTH are awesome. But the XJ just has better, timeless, style to it. Thanks for the update!!!!! Looking forward to seeing BOTH cars finished!!! Laters.
It looks similar to Howard Hamlin's car
It's the same chassis his was just a normal xj8
i can't help but think i would've had the zorst clamps so they were more out of the way
Big boss walk-in then just "alright" Love It heh
Do you not have a budget for to heat up the workshop? I feel so sorry for the guys having to work in full winter clothing.
Do you guys even got content to make ? Lol 😂
I had to replace my Jaguar XJR subframe too, the rusty old one cracked and broke into two pieces. I painted the new one and installed it. I replaced all the upstream and downstream O2 sensors in July 2023.
MIKE , you and your crew made an incredible work . This car will became the best XJR world wide. I like this car at first sight when it appear end of the ninetie's . I beame mad when i knew that JAGUAR produced the XJR bodywork in Aluminium . During this period the XJR was more efficient and faster than an XKR on any ring . Congratulations for your amazing work.
I'm sure they mean Jagggggggg
Jaaaaaaag*
Dislike present 🎉
Fancy making a video of fitting a new exhaust, awaiting to hear the tune it plays, and wait for it, ya can't, because Mike didn't get the Lambda sensors, in time. TUT TUT
I don't think Mike forgot to buy the sensors. It's a ruse to extend into another episode. The brevity of these builds is starting to annoy me!
JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG
I don't know lads...the end of that drive shaft was looking a little rusty 🤔
☺️
Yeah I think that (sponsorship) we do like to see the work being sorted !
Agreed. It's ridiculous.
You have no right to make Richard’s arrival go that hard and I love it
richard doesnt need the lift he can just walk under
what's that rubber hose over the supercharger coolers?? that shouldn't be there 🤔
Looks like the brittle plastic coolant pipe has been replaced with that.
Hammond is the neighbor we all want. Love this series!
Alex is a serious competitor so be careful!
Richard is becoming a movie villain in his mature years. Those country roads around where he lives have a new wild cat roaming around haha 😂
Well .....was looking forward to the work being done ...to see the work being done and its FAST FORWARD ...VERY disappointing as I'm looking to buy an XJR 😖
These Cars are Rocketship Super Sedans.
The X308 XJ is the lowest of all the XJ types, with a height of just 1,31 M.
This AJ V8 engine was voted among ten best engines made in 2000, by Wards.
The Supercharged V8 has no variable valves, and is fitted with a MB 5G-Tronic transmission, that is able to handle 700Hp (SLR Mansory).
I have a X308 SC for 3 years, and started using the J-gate frequently since last year.
Like a sorted jaguar,Nice exhaust, like the stainless steel quality, just need to turn the jubilee clips to one side so they never catch on anything.
Mike's cold-weather style on point as usual
I understand you are bald, like myself but are you sponsored by REDBULL!!🤣😂🤔😞👳♂🕵♂👳♂
What's missing in a new Jaguar is coach built adventure. knowing your Jaguar. Knowing how to fix your Jaguar with a set of screwdriver and spanners within 15 minutes.
Nice Swallows exhaust! It's over axle and not under axle like my Mina Gallery exhaust. I love the way my exhaust sounds, but I'm just waiting for the day that I strike a tall-ish piece of debris on the freeway.
Sort those exhaust clamps out 👀
please replace the coolant vent pipe from the thermostat housing/coolant outlet pipe to the header tank. That large bore rubber pipe is "all wrong" and the correct pipe is about £15 from SNG - just a little detail that needs sorting (no functional problem as is, just "wrong")
PRETTY SURE I saw you the other day in the crowd at a Top Gear filming with ANOTHER former Top Gear presenter in Matt Le Blanc in the Star slot
Cardinal sin! NEVER make a UA-cam video about exhaust and not include a clip of the finished product!
At just about 3:30 he places his fingers on some painted over rust that doesn't look fresh on the inner sills....looks like just surface rust, but another 3-5 years and that'll be an issue unless it's kept inside in a humidity controlled garage...
Did someone drive that exhaust all the way from Munich? Or did they bring the Liqui Moly stuff with them?
Ah right, so you’ve had amazing work done but don’t actually show it when this series is about showing restoration. Brilliant.😒
WHO, on earth fitted that coolant pipe over the top and not where it should be? Fire them now. I thought Richard wanted this restored?????? It just looks terrible. Sort that pipe out.
Great job but! those exhaust clamps are begging to be ground down/ripped off on a sleeping policeman.
Not to pile on here, but you talk to me about all the things you did to the car mechanically that were interesting. And then you showed me cleaning the car which is not interesting. Got to be a better formula for making these videos and keeping everyone happy
Ngl Richard is so right detailing the satisfaction at the end.. I do my mates cars for free, and get so excited to do so then see their reactions after! I might wanna look into charging them tho my back hurts hahaha
I'm sorry, but the paint runs on that brake caliper @4:52 are... well, they ARE.
people who don't polish the welded seams on a new stainless exhaust before they give it back to the customer .... grrrrrr
Hammond! Do some work?
There's more chance of me waking next to Jennifer Lopez.
I'm officially naming Mike,
JAGUAR MIKE! OR MIKE JAGGUAR
Don't mind pop up ads, but when they pop up within an ad, that is a bit too much for me. Saddle wax!
From the 30's Jaguar coach building. That's why you buy a Jaguar.
That's a Jaaaagg!
Please stop, saying ‘I’ve been Mike’, that’s Jonny’s old line and if was daft then as well
It would have been nice to actually hear the engine. Seemed more like a vlog for the sponsors.
That's why you get the aluminum one, innit? x350 is bigger, but a little lighter
Top gear Era? When did hammond drive a jaaag in Top gear. This is from the gra d tour. Correct me if wrong
Anyone else notice the horrendous orange peel paint on the side skirt/sill as a fellow body work guy that needs sorting out
Should have ice blasted it and then treated it. Costs over 2k but it would have been what Richard wanted.
Are you guys gonna compete against AutoAlex Cars? With their straight piped Supercharged Jaggg -From a guy from Wisconsin...
Turn the pipe clamps it looks horrible with the bolts down like that, hide them from the underside.
Is it just me or does Richard Hammond look permanently baked
Yes, it's not just teeth whitening products he uses.
