I don't know a lot about knives, but this looks like an unusual blade shape and handle, I like it! You make a piece of scrap into a work of art, very nice!! As usual
You are getting more and more BAD-ASS with time, I like watching your vid's from beginning to end and will be requesting a custom blade from you when I'm able to!
Really improved your editing work! Maybe some more lightning for the future? I think it's the best thing you can do for little money to get a huge image quality improvement!
Beautiful and original tool as Always.A quick question if i may? Understandably fast on video but how long did it take to hammer the piece of spring into usable bar stock? Not including the blade forming, just the flat stock. Thanks in advance. Good health and stay safe.
Watching you turn scrap metal into awesome stuff is awesome! There was this video, though, where you built a big sword, kinda like a mini-buster sword from Final Fantasy VII, did you delete that? It was my favorite of the bunch; looked so badass!
Okay i just came here from the video with the rigid hookjaw blade. And i noticed the one with the ball peen hammer.. my question.. what kind of ax could you make from a bigass sledgehammer?
appreciate the reply and info. have a pair of 2007 for fusion front springs that had 68,000 miles on 'em. future project. i think Ontario RTAKs use 5160. my RTAK is the most amazing knife i own.
Use a rock, or if you have a big enough hammer you could use the steel face on that or you could use a railroad tie metal plate or a piece of railroad track. Be creative
Yes, the sudden cool down freezes the outer layer of the material in stronger and harder crystalline structures. But also more brittle. So you have to watch out that the center of the blade still stays flexible.
But why oil instead of water? is what i should have asked. I saw another video where the gent dipped the blade in used motor oil. Would that just be an instance of what's handy?
@@tonynecas4825 different oils are used for different materials. For normal steel that's not that thick almost every oil is suitable for this. Water would cool it too quick and make it brittle
This is so cool!
Beautiful, you are a real craftsman.
Well done!
Next turn a useful tool into a giant spring

Nice Nice Nice well done Jake. Cheers man
احسنت استمر يا ملك الابداع🇪🇬🇪🇬😉😉😉😚
How much width can you get out of those springs
D Day Invader it depends of the thickness you want for the blade. If you want you can use the steel from the leaf springs. Pretty much the same!
Hello
Cool knife, the handle seems a little weird but looks cool
สวยโดนใจอีกชิ้นคับ.
😍👏👏👏👏
Really improved your editing work!
Maybe some more lightning for the future? I think it's the best thing you can do for little money to get a huge image quality improvement!
I love that flat oblong anvil you used to shape it straight. Is there a particular name for it? It's something i would love in my garage at home
I was wondering why you made it so thick at first but that bevel looks awesome and the file texture on the tang fits the knife perfectly.
Nice
The best...brasil te assistindo Ceará meu estado admiro muito seu trabalho.
Good work, be good with the sheath
Badass as always!!
Awesome.
It's a razor 😬

Can you please provide some information on the anvil in this video?
What's your opinion on using rolling mills on heated steel?
Beautiful and original tool as Always.A quick question if i may? Understandably fast on video but how long did it take to hammer the piece of spring into usable bar stock? Not including the blade forming, just the flat stock. Thanks in advance. Good health and stay safe.
it is beautiful can you make a butterfly
احسنت عمل جميل ومبدع
That's really cool I love how simple and clean the design is. If I send you a huge rasp could you make me something similar?
Watching you turn scrap metal into awesome stuff is awesome! There was this video, though, where you built a big sword, kinda like a mini-buster sword from Final Fantasy VII, did you delete that? It was my favorite of the bunch; looked so badass!
süper
Make a Bowie knife from leaf spring
Now go put it back in the place of the original spring
Okay i just came here from the video with the rigid hookjaw blade. And i noticed the one with the ball peen hammer.. my question.. what kind of ax could you make from a bigass sledgehammer?
muhteşem
hey jake. great vid as always. just wondering, how long does it take you to forge a single knife?
Респект от Матушки России.
What steel are springs made of?
You make separate videos of making each knife's sheath or Scabbard
i love this knife . please make a video in solid folding pocket knife . please its a request
muito linda
so in terms of steel quality are coil springs about the best steel you can use to make a knife?
They arent really the best but they are usually 5160 you can make a good knife from newer ones without cracks
ProthoPectore not the best but is pretty good! And it’s cheap . There are other materials that are better for knifemaking but the price is higher!
appreciate the reply and info. have a pair of 2007 for fusion front springs that had 68,000 miles on 'em. future project. i think Ontario RTAKs use 5160. my RTAK is the most amazing knife i own.
thank you for the reply. i was going to recycle an old pair of front springs but now i'll pack 'em away for a future project ;)
Ты просто, как говорил Буба касторский, композитор...
It's nice to use wood better than full metal.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
What are you using for an anvil, im trying to get into blacksmithing and dont have a lot of money

Can you make Scottish claymore
👋😊👍👍👍
😘😘
PURDY!!!!
Can you try making a utility knife
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💪
Also, since I don't know anything about forging. Why do you dip the hot metal into oil? Does it make it stronger??
Yes, the sudden cool down freezes the outer layer of the material in stronger and harder crystalline structures. But also more brittle.

Ah word, thank you for that.
what is the liquid in 5:23 , and that's for??

quenching oil, to harden the steel
