I blew two sparkplugs out of my VFR800X...and the helicoil's saved me. 5000km on & 95k on the clock, and going strong :)
Fingers crossed. Right!
love this. i've never had much luck with helicoils, but mine were those little windy spring looking ones, not a solid piece like that.
This wasnt solid.
The insert was solid. It was like a light version of a Time Sert. But about $200 less expensive. Probably more like a halfway between the spring wire and a full-on time-sert.
Intresting...
I always wondered how these were installed 🔧👍🏻
I have a helicoiled spark plug in a high compression 944cc engine, 2,000 miles and so far so good. If installed correctly, it should be stronger than before
Thats my hope! The time sert tools cost more than a whole new motor!
Sick wheelie man!
Thanks Sponsors You!
🤣
Nice job, and nice wheelies 🤣 Those things look goofy but im sure a blast to ride!
Scooters are pure fun!
Great to see you fixed it Dave. 🤓 Surprised to see you riding in shorts and tea shirts though 🤔🤔
It goes about the same speed as a bicycle. Probably slower, actually. But statistically speaking, bicycles, are substantially more dangerous.
So Dave, when is the release date for your new short film, "Wild Scooters"?
Thanks for the fix😊
Use loctite high strength sealer. Get the highest strength and temperature. A Timesert kit is better. It locks the insert in. Thread-saver kits can pop out. They rely on the swaging tool. Get the piston at tdc on compression stroke to avoid bending valves. Then back the piston down some. Use loctite high strength sealer at the highest strength and temperature. Green is the highest temperature and strength.
A timesert is indeed better but the kits cost more than a complete new head.
I don't think he understood the assignment... You don't need grease in the flutes in that circumstance.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. A little lubricant for sure, but no need for it if you're doing it off the engine. But, I guess a good example for people so they get the idea if they're doing it on the vehicle. And I guess it saves clean up
Love the music!
Thank you!
the question is, are you trail braking on that thing ?? hahah just saw the jump cut lol
wowww... that's seen fun...yeeehaaa😂😂😂.. keep it happy Dave..
Scooters are a right ol' giggle (as they say!)
I have had to re-repair several of those on trucks. It will probably hold up on a scooter though 🤞
I’d it fails I’ll just do another big bore kit. The whole kit is less than $200
@CanyonChasers another reason why scooters are so great!
Nice wheelie & FJ60 in the background… random question: what happened to the moto station shop in Murray? Did they move somewhere else?
I chose that location for a very specific reason. 😎 It was a great shop. Not sure how much I can say publically, but nobody wanted it to go away and nothing nefarious caused them to close.
@@CanyonChasers Thank you for taking the time to reply back.. and that’s too bad about the shop. That was honestly the only motorcycle shop I trust in both Utah & Salt Lake counties. Now just stuck dealing with the rest. Maybe your garage could be the beginning of moto station 2.0?? 😅
scooters are great! always think about selling my motorcycle and turning it into a few scooters so the whole gang can mob around.
I love them! Ours gets used more than any other bike. I sucked not having it the last two weeks.
The last 2 turns (out of 13) of the spark plug threads were stripped on my engine. Using a little more force than usual, I could install the new spark plug in and engine runs fine. Do you think I should remove it now and fix it? Is there a chance that all threads will be stripped the next time I try to remove that spark plug?
I helicoiled a B52 engine in 1975, and still wonder if it blew up.
No pieces landed on me, so maybe...
A B52!!! F&&*kin' A!!!
Like this comment if you think Dave needs to put a battery in the Zuma to make it easier for Mrs Canyonchaser to start it.
It'll just die again this next winter. Zuma's eat batteries.
@@CanyonChasers I can't figure out how to keep them alive. My battery is so dead the horn doesn't work.
@@CanyonChasers shorai is literally a channel sponsor. why not just disconnect it for the winter? It's 2 screws and a battery clamp. Or an occasional trickle charger hookup.
@@CanyonChasers even plugged in?
It works 👌👏👏👏🤗 Only thing left to do... some minor adjustments of controls from seat to throttle 😆👍
We're always tyring to adjust those!
@@CanyonChasers not havin a pop just commenting on yr "spirited" riding 😆👍
@@1050cc he had to shoot in the opposite direction as the woman pushing the stroller because she was going faster than he was in that shot. :P
The beauty of 2-smokers. That was the pro fix but chewing gum, cigarette filters and a fart also works.
You really gotta' love how simple they are!
