Kaito here is your answer: Kiibo wanted to ensure that the three remaining students would get out causing him to self destruct to break the glass that surrounds the academy. Kiibo had also blown up part of the academy causing part of it to fall on top of Tsumugi which resulted in her death. Next to Tsumugi was Monokuma and they were both crushed so Monokuma couldn't punish Kiibo but he ended up self destructing which was basically his execution. :) I haven't played Danganronpa before but I know this somehow.
Fun fact: Tsumugi didn't enjoy the killing game and you can even say that she was bored Ps sorry if I make a mistake because English is not my first language
