Well technically 50/50 (Spoilers)
The culprit had been the traitor which who Nagito targeted. A regular person could not hold on to a tail of a item for forever. If the culprit hadn’t thrown the poison then Nagito would’ve committed suicide. In short it all depended on Nagito’s strength and if the culprit thrown the poison or not.
