I have 740 and 750. Not bad. Via u-tube the ADC sounds better to me than the 760SLC

It is more than 40 years since I owned an ADC cartridge and was very satisfied with it, unfortunately later I could no longer afford it and had to fall back on cheaper cartridges.

What is that high pitched kinda squeaky sound in the beginning? It happened with both of the carts.
Once it starts going though, they both sound fantastic, but I’ve gotta give it to the ADC.

The ADC has a more balanced sound I think, I've always found that Audio Technica's have a little too much top end emphasis for my taste. My other gripe with them is that the midrange tends to lack body and heft necessary for a convincing portrayal of an orchestra. Other people love them I know but they're just not my cup of tea.

I dont really listen classical much, but adding more capasitance helps with overly bright sound. What I use is a AT95 with a modded and glued on LPgear Vividline stylus. Gives a nice smooth sound with good bass and very refined vocals. Especially works with young female vocals. I also have a AT440Mlb lying around but like my contraption more. I'm spinning with Technics 100C my Riaa is a Pro-ject SE II combined with NAD326BEE and sennheiser HD600 yeah cheap and basic but works.

@@whittiertennyson6297 I listen to classical music mainly and the AT95 is terrible cartridge for that, it becomes a total mess when the orchestra gets busy. I would just buy a more balanced cartridge from the beginning rather than all that fuss such as a Goldring.

Astrion sounds better in this case. More brighter, not to high pitched sound and warm mids and fuller bass. Completely reproduce the full range of the orchestra and imagine all the instruments on it's special place. The AT focus more the high levels and forgot the mid range, and down the bass you don't feel it that there are instruments in a full room, like compress all on one place. For this price in the early 80s, I'm sad I never could buy such great pick ups new, because born in 77 and my highest equipment with 14 was a Dual CS 5000 with a simple Ortofon OM body.
