Solti s tenure as conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra was absolutely amazing. I used to buy on vinyl records all of his recordings with that marvellous Orchestra of the Mahler Symphonies
I great performance! I think something we can all appreciate is that Solti and the orchestra took and played Les Preludes seriously. They didn't just dash it off as a popular work. Thanks for posting this video record. Great conductor, great orchestra!
Frederick Nietzsche the philosopher said that life without music would be a mistake. Another quote from ??? "Music is what makes gods of men" I remember this piece from the first Flash Gordon tv series in the 1950's when I was a child, which pretty much dates me. This version is amazing
What a performance! I've been looking for this rendition for a long time as it matches the first time I heard it watching the original Flash Gordon serials in the 1940...
Late coming here. It was old memories of that very series that brought me here. It was shown on broadcast TV for so many decades and so many saw it as children. The music at closing was always the best part.
There is so much tenderness and care in Solti's conducting. What is beautiful man he is! And the sound blossoms like a flower, and the breaks and rests are like an infant's yawn. The master leads with crisp tempo and thorough control of the orchestra that does not seem forced at all. The sound is together and cogent. But there is still motion forward and life to it. It is a sort of performance that will not make you cry but make you smile and happy.
Outros tempos
This performance by Solti with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra is awesome! It is a pity, however, that the CD he recorded with the London Philharmonic does not have this "POWER".
Solti😮
the electricity of Solti is incomparable!

The best of the best Brahms Symphonies was by Solti and The Chicago Orchestra.
The best performed conductor interpretation I've seen until now of that masterpiece of music or vice versa!!!

I like this interpretation of the piece
musicalité puissance et charme tout Sir Georg
maravilloso!
Sublime.
labored and steel-like rigidity. You can always count on Solti to deliver.

Good Lord, what was Georgs hurry? Is my playback speed set high? So many cadences approached like a subway turnstile.

Merci infiniment !
10:10 i think the clarinet played 1 wrong note. That is only very small mistake.
Yes--good ear! The 1st clarinet played D sharp instead of D natural, as written in the score!
