People needs to understand when he says 50k for the snake that he's not really going to sell it. It's the time he's spending to prove the gene that justify this "hypothetical" price. I can't wait to see what going on 👍🏻

That new gene Clown girl is intense! Super interesting project. The most I've spent on a snake so far is just under $1k, but I'd go up to $1.5k or so potentially for the right animal. I'm sure I'll add a couple to the slither fam this year. Playing the market is part of what makes snake breeding fun, that balance of risk and reward!

Nice. Reminds me of Odium, but maybe a bit crisper with that color intensity increase instead of just the fade. I wonder if they would interact.

IMO normal, wild type ball pythons are quite beautiful as is. I couldn't justify spending thousands of dollars for a different colored but equally boring (personality wise) snake. To each their own I suppose.
They just are boring in rack systems you cant see behavior in a tube... give it a big tank and it will explode behaviorwise...
Not to mention that a lot of inbreeding goes into proving a lot of morphs.
That clown with the "new gene" is definitely nice looking for sure but to be honest i've had an albino ball group that would always toss hets that looked very similar to that plus some wacky pattern, unfortunately i didn't pursue that project and ended selling it off due to personal reasons but to be honest i think his "new gene" would most likely end up being sold for $1000 on the high end but more realistically it'll probably be worth a couple hundred dollars as a single gene
tbh I really don’t see anything but a nice normal and a lot of wishing, but I appreciate how careful he is about not overselling it. Nothing wrong with having a few dinker projects, as long as you don’t try to sell them as anything else until you’re sure, and thats exactly what this guy is doing. Glad he is having fun and I hope either this project or another dinker of his proves out someday.

At the end of the day - it’s still a ball python. With a different paint job, yes. But still a ball python. There are so many other species I can’t imagine a room of ball pythons mostly. That being said, the most I’ve spent is 5-600. The most I’d spend, depending on the species and definitely not on a BP- 1k-ish.

I also have breeding projects with Varanus Flavirufus, Varanus Acanthurus, Cyclura Lewisi crosses, iguana delicatissima, and various species of boas. I still have a blast with ball pythons and morphs. To each their own. Thanks for watching the video and chiming in.

No shot at you, But would you still say this for the people who only have or keep Green Tree Pythons, Emerald Tree Boas, Corn Snakes, Bull Snakes, Crested Geckos, Turtles, Iguanas, Blue Tongue Skinks, Venomous, Etc, but still pay thousands of dollars for the different morphs of those animals.
BloodyScales I like animals first for what they naturally are. Secondly for their paint job lol. I don’t like normal BP - I’ve owned plenty and their just not for me. I’m not saying breeding projects or having more than a few of one species is bad or anything. I have 5 hogs for a snow project, 4 carpets for a snow project. I get it, you need a bunch of the same thing to achieve a breeding goal. But if it’s just to keep the animal as a pet - I don’t want a BP personally. Very cool what this guy is doing with his breeding collection. Finding one difference in an animal and building on it, I hope to do the same with my hogs.

Personally I think the most I would spend would be £400 (around $550), but beyond basic morphs, I don't have a lot of interest ... I understand how much passion and work goes into these projects, but after a while it doesn't sound like husbandry or keeping animals, more like spouting specs and chasing the next big thing. But to each their own, super congrats on your 100K Dav, you deserve it!
A complete lightweight so $600 for my olive was my max 😂, even then 😅

I have a lot of black pastel and Ghi balls, many people asked me about the difference between bp and normal. I always say imagine black pastel is hetrozygous of melanistic ball python, people think het Pied and het Ghost have a hint so I just say okay black pastel is just a manistic ball with a visual het. Those codoms that look 'normal' usually have higher potential than the 'obvious' codoms like pastel😂Haha I am not a pastel hater, I mean pastel don't go well with every single combo.
By the way, I just did an unboxing video of my most expensive snake purchase. It is a $7000 ball python.
So I understand that people keep snakes in racks. But why keep them in opaque bins? Don’t snakes need to have a day and night cycle?

I paid 300 for my Bumblebee Python and 800 for my Ivory Python that is completely white and has no coloring, like straight bright white no discoloration anywhere that's why she was so much and she's something to really see, I love it
Love the beauty of these animals, but I can’t personally justify spending thousands of dollars on any pet - dog, cat, snake, bearded dragon - when there are animals in shelters. But... that’s just me. I admire what dedicated breeders do in the same way I admire my favorite artists. This is less about the animal than it is about art.
I bought a hog island boa for $350 and that was my top dollar. I also spent $300 on a normal pied ball python a year ago. I just have a hard time spending more than $400 on a paint job for a ball python.

Most ive ever spent was 550 for a male pastel banana g stripe a long time ago from N.E.R.D. which was actually a deal then idk what itd go for now. He is beautiful, with zero black spots

I kinda get what he's saying. He really doesn't really want to let go of offspring but if anyone REALLY wants to buy it from him, he named his price. But it's not like he really wants to. It kinda shows that he's more for the love of the project rather than the money. If people really want to invest in it, they have to buy it from him at his price and has low expectations that it will sell. I have some nice looking imports that I plan on doing the same so i understand how he feels. I'm really excited with what I'm working with and don't plan on letting most of them go.

Most expensive single snake I have purchased was $1,500. There is no ceiling to what I would pay for a snake if it's worth it to me and I have the money, its a good deal in my mind!

I paid $100 for my Rosy Boa. He was 27 grams at the time which made him $3.70 per gram. Worth every penny.

-Even tho it wasn't asked, the cheapest snakes I have were $30 garters from Florida.

Ball python breeding is heavily dependent on what the snake being produced is for. If it's for another breeding project the prices are justified but if I'm looking at buying two different snakes and one of them is substantially higher because it's 66% het for something, but I'm buying it for myself as a pet and not an asset to a breeding collection I'm going to go with the snake that's more reasonably priced.

My Mojave Girl, which I suspect has something going on, she is from Texas and has the same spot on the back of her blushed head and on both sides as well as a blushed line in the middle between the dots her dorsal Stripe is super messed up for a plain Mojave part of it is hourglass shaped and holes in the dorsal stripe the pattern matches nice green/gray flames, the popcorn coming up from the belly, she's going to lay any day now(sire GHI pastel), I got to save this video for reference, I plan to put together a video when the eggs hatch if they hatch fingers crossed

For my Paradox I spent 2.5k on her I honestly would have spend up to 4k on her probably maybe 5k and on my Super OD RA Pastel girl she was alittle over 1k if she proves het for pied (shes 50%) then I'll be extra happy!

Do you dislike every dog breed and think none should exist? Granted some were utilitarian, but many aesthetic. Humans have been breeding different animals for looks since we've been breeding animals lol.

@@AuroraExotics I think the major difference here is the dog breeding is done and over with(many years ago). As far as I know people are not still breeding dogs in the same way they are snakes to create visual abnormalities lol. I'm against breeding ANY animal on the planet specifically to create a trait that is appealing to humans but TAKES AWAY the quality of life of the animal. Some morphs 100% do take away some quality of life from snakes--
