    Excellent. Thanks. Before this, I was using switch layers and it looked horrible.

    Hi pop, so an easier way to tackle the hand staying on top would be: For the animation with the character having one hand out, you can just move the recieving character above the giving character and For the second animation with the character having two hands out....just make sure you're done with all the animation for that character, then duplicate the character and move the duplicate above the giving character, then hide all the layers in that character except that hand you want on top...And bam! It works like magic...it stays on top.

    Thank you for the video. I am a newbie to the animation. Your tutorials are good learning material.

    Good tutorial, you could create a reference layer move it to the top and hide everything but the hand on the 2nd character.

    But how can I do a hand shake between two characters?

    Your videos are very helpful! I have 2 questions for you: 1) can you do a tutorial on spinning/swirling? Like if a ballerina/ice skater/whoever were spinning? 2) This is probably remedial, but for some reason I have to animate my gradients to move with the image - shouldn't the gradient be locked in and move with the image? What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you for your lesson! What tools do you have in the "other" section?

      The other tools I have are a couple of great camera and scene manipulation tools that Orson Galore made awhile ago. You can see how they work here. ua-cam.com/video/1Y9og8vy1XA/v-deo.html

      @Techno Stone I can take a look at it if you send the file via facebook.com/poptoogi in a message. My rigs always have to bone layer folders. One for the body and one for all of the facial features. That way I can bind the entire face bone folder to the head bone I created in the body layer.

    Hey Poptoogi, thanx for another helpful tute. Been out here watching for some time now. I was wondering if you are doing videos for clients as well and perhaps share your approach to potential clients?

    I see that you’re manipulating the present via the hand. Do you think it’s possible to move the present using the bone it’s bound to even though it’s connected to the hand? I’m thinking you could move the second present directly behind the first and make it visible right before the second character’s hand is in place. Then hide the first. That way both hands will be in front of the present. Possibly unlink it and link it back. Or a third copy of the present just for transition purposes.

    • @Poptoogi
      @Poptoogi  5 років тому

      Yeah, that was my original plan because you can link and unlink the present bone or manipulate it while still connected to the hand. I think I could have just manually moved the bone for a few frames to get it into place but I couldn't place the second present behind the first because the characters are in completely different group layers making that hard if not impossible to work since you can't use animated sorting layers from one group to another. In the end, the little add on clip at the end seemed to work best as it only took a minute or two to make work.

    For the hand on character 2 couldn't you copy and paste her hand as a separate vector and put it in front of character 1? Then position the hand at the same spot in that moment and make it visible for that one frame similarly to how you made the present visible/invisible? There might be a better fix but surely that would work.

      Haha never mind. I paused the video before watching your add on at the end 😝

      Yep! That's exactly what I did at the end of the video and how I made it look correct in the intro clip Enjay!
