I've been MDD since childhood. There were moments in my life I could more or less control it, but most of the time I've just enjoyed the other realities. Sometimes the emotions I have got there are so strong and real, that I'm afraid I could stuck in the worlds of my imagination for good.
What attracts me most in the activity is first the possibility to some degree control anything in my fantasies - people, places, time, feelings... However at times the stories just flow on their own and the heroes of my fantasies are acting independently. Second, it's the way for me to feel strong emotions, I'm only able to feel when I'm "there".
I was trying to fight my ability for years without big progress, but once I was taking ADs and wasn't able to dream which was awful. It made me realize MDD is a part of my personality and I won't be myself without it. The imaginative world is so much better and interesting than the reality and safe at the time. It's a movie bank and a library that's always with you. I understand, it's just a way of escapism, but as long as it makes one's life better who cares.
I was diagnosed with TLE a while ago and had a turbulent childhood which must've influenced my condition.
I'm curious if I had a talent and wasn't lazy I possibly would be able to write a book or make a movie. Is the ability to write down the fantasies of one's imagination the only difference between a writer and a MDD person? Could the former have the same kind of imagination I've got but has got a gift to create as well?

I am sure many writers are capable of immersive daydreaming and that the capacity for vivid fantasy enhances their writing.

Omg wow I had such an intense yet beautiful cry tonight stumbling across this condition on UA-cam. It was like a break through I was desperately needing. For so long I didn’t even know what this was I would do, the worlds I would create and go into at Will and stay in for hours. Let alone finding out there are so many others going through the same thing, really makes it a lot less taboo and embarrassing for sure! Gah honestly thank you so much for these extremely informative and researched videos!!!! And for quite literally discovering this! There is so much relief in just now knowing what it is and becoming aware of the steps to deal with it healthier. I’m curious if there are any other transgender individuals like myself who used this ability to quite literally survive in secret growing up. Anyways thanks again ur an absolute legend!!!

I believe that MaDD has a direct link to trauma and dissociation within the context of ASD, particularly high functioning Autistic children. The nervous system is already over-taxed in these kids, and then when you add abuse on top of that- you get an already highly internal individual needing to protect their nervous system even further. The subconscious mind then turns to dissociation to escape the reality of the individuals’ situations. The motor and repetitiveness is the expression of stimming which includes pacing and other repetitive movements- also aiding in keeping the individual within the dissociative fantasy. Work is done within this mode- aiding the individual to understand social dynamics and constructs and practice them in a safe place(in the imagination). Music helps to regulate these impulses and direct them to the tone of the emotions the individual is needing to express or understand. There is release from this and a gratification which can lead to an addictive/immersive probability. These children are experiencing this particular form of disassociation because they are on the Autistic Spectrum. There is far more to learn about Autism and its variations. Caetextia Theory is a good place to start I think.

I want to comment that when Dr. Somer brings up "stereotypical movement" at 16:35, he mentions rocking back and forth, pacing, twirling things... it is much worse for me. I sometimes get as far and acting out strangling someone, yelling, cursing him or her out. This behavior is inhibited a lot when i am in public, when i am aware that there are other people nearby who are not interacting with me but could observe me. But when I am alone, as so many of us are most of the time these past 12 months, I do not have this inhibition and i slide down into this extreme degree often and don't catch myself until my heart is pounding with the exertion. Then I am worse than embarrassed - I am ashamed. This is distressing and dysfunctional. So it is a disorder to me.
So I am on a mission to get my MaDD under control. If they could come up with a treatment then maybe I could get get my life back.

Read my comment. No more waiting. You are the one who started changing the structure of your brain ( even if its not your fault). Now it is time to reverse that to its original state. I can't be waiting for a magic pill to come out from this research and change your whole brain structure. Time is needed.
