Nicely done👍 good job ! Mici is definitely a way to go at any kind of barbeque they want to throw at or any grill party, the only thing is that when are freezed before cooking the meat will shrink and they need fiddling turning to all sides to be well cooked but once done they are finished they are so rewarding in taste just with bred, mustard and pickles ! ;0) 👌😋

Don't use translated version...it sounds strange...actually, personally, i have no ideea if their name it actually has a conection with the romanian word for "small" or it is a simple coincidence. Like, the most sadic joke of my childhood " prăjitură" which means "fried" but also "cookye" ...my grandpa used this trick with me, just imaginate me when i thought i was asked if i want a cookie and i got some sort of fat-meat dish...not fun 🤣😅

As a tip from a romanian "exiled" in america you should use a Plate on the gas grill when you are roasting mici because you need intense heat to build up the crust to maintain the moisture inside the mici also in the same note if you are buying the already minced meat always choose the hight fat 15% one. Just some little tips for the next time you cook "mici",use fresh garlic in the recipe, less baking soda or it will be hard to digest, before to put them on the grill you can rub them with a bit of vegetable oil.and when they are cooking pour beer over them and i will sugest you to use an charcoal grill or natural coal resulted from burning wood, the flavour is a lot diferent than the gas grill ,and the last tip as an romanian bbq maker,we don't close the lid of the bbq,we kinda sear the mici over high heat and quickly turn then upside down regular so they don't burn or taste burned, greeting from Romania good luck, happy holidays wish you all the best

Another "secret" ingredient to make perfect MICI is to cook them on COAL grill instead of gas grill. Why?? The coal also gives its own flavor to the meat, its called smoked flavor. On a gas grill you are missing out on that. It may seem like nothing but trust me, it makes a huge difference.

Mici (or Mititei ) are actually part of other cultures that got in Romania during older wars with Turkey empire the only difference is that Turkey recipe includes beef & lamb (usually baby lamb or baby goat) they cylindrical & longer and are cooked in the similar way as kebab meat and the spices were more predominant instead of beer (since they are part of muslim culture) but in Romania after the Turk empire got back the traditional cuisine of Romania did it's own recipe with what meat was most popular beef & pork and beer + baking powder to make them moister and juicy being cooked much better on the barbeque & grill..

Like "mici" for example, we all know that is made by someone who ran out of that carcass, and that's all. @@Yasin_Affandi Never use bird meat to mici... chicken, turkey or else.... Initial recipe was contained horse meat, like 3 part beaf, 2 part lamb . 1 part horse (late 1700 to middle 1800) but in 20-th century was excluded. So, basically are to sorts - beef/sheep or beef/pork . Can also find sometimes mixed. Reason for the two variations is that originally, mici were prepared in Wallachian's Inns or caravansaray's, were used tio stay many muslim/jewish traders and they didn't eat pork.

I am from Romania and I love the fact that you love our country and our food and that you actually managed to cook our food back to your home and shared it with your family. And don’t worry about the size of the mici because actually “mic” in Romanian means small and “mici” is the plural for “mic”

Hey guys, love your videos! Congrats on your first Mici recipe! Great job! Btw, Ivana said she would love to try cooking ciorba de burta (but she never cooked tripe); well, you can buy tripe already cleaned and cut, ready to be used for ciorba de burta, not a difficult recipe; try Nofrills for example. I mean, she made Mici, isn't she? looking forward to see your next adventure and enjoy your time at home.

God this brings back memories. I grow up in the '80 ,'90 in Romania and on few holidays ( 1 of May , 23 of August and other) a usual order for 4 people was 100 mici and a case of beer (24 x 0.5 l) . Young and reckless and no embarrassing photo or video of the aftermath. Fun . Thanks Ion from România
