cactus one of the great memories of driving down the Baja. My first knowledge of whats really inside a cactus. Cactus wood is incredible. Creosote plant, had no idea. Well done episode.

Wow! I especially like the dead cactus carcass portion of the lecture (and the cuddly cactus with the super sharp spines). Q: why do so many desert plants have those wicked thorns, spines, and jaggers? Also, in the next segment, how about commenting about the desert wildlife…especially those cute frolicking roadrunners…maybe show some footage of their curious feeding behaviors. Thanks for sharing.

As always thanks SO much for commenting Joe. I believe it’s because there’s so little water in the desert that the spikes help protect the plant from predators who want to eat succulents which store water.

Don’t think there are roadrunners in the Sonoran. We didn’t see any or any other fauna, such as (Gregory) peccaries, look it up, so we couldn’t comment. Btw, Frank Zappa was so clever.
