I've been captivated by her ever since she broke through and nearly won the 2015 Open at Turnberry. For me, she has the finest swing in golf at the minute. That's not just a golf swing, that's a work of art. Makes most other tour pros look like they are rushing. I'd even put her alongside my all time idol Seve in terms of a classical, graceful swing. There's something about that impact to follow through position that is just so graceful and repeatable under back 9 major pressure. Serious props due!

@@mikewilsongolfHi Mike. I have been playing golf for 30 years, and I have never seen a ladys golf swing as smooth and powerful as hers. She was on BBC this morning for the top 10 big news for golf in 2020.
I'm very proud of her as a strong Korean woman golfers ! Merry Christmas and Happy new year!

Her head positioning and movements are top rate, which contribute to the over all swing.

Missed here how near the top of the backswing when here hands come up her arm pushes her head up slightly. to me its the signature move of hers. She doesn't lower the shoulders at all, but sort of pre sets the shoulders for the downswing and then just pivots them. Most players have the left shoulder down at the top of the backswing and the shoulders at a steeper angle. She keeps the shoulders very flat, almost as a set for the downswing. That way she doesn't have to drop the right shoulder.

I'm not sure if there are some subtle nuances throwing off Jin Young's swing here now in the summer of 2022. I know she was dealing with some wrist issues last yr, and I wonder if that propelled her to make some adjustments in her mechanics.
But just looking at some of her swings from the lpga instagram page, it appears that her head position gets slightly nudged or jostled by her lead shoulder at the apex of her backswing.
Anyways I'd be curious to see a breakdown on her now, a couple yrs after the above video analysis.

I’m a super fan of Jin Young Ko and predict that she will be at the top for a long time as long as she don’t get much coaching from pga pros in USA.
Her rotation inside the barrel is supreme. What in your opinion is the way to execute her backswing. It doesn’t come in and around as far as I can see. Looks more straight back and UP. HOW does she do that?

I think a lot has to do with her strength and flexibility,I've seen how hard she works on her YT channel, her dedication and work ethic are both awesome and inspirational.

I think there is a subtle shift that gets the backswing going. Its very subtle and think most pga pros do have it.

Mike: I notice at the top of her driver swing her left arm covers part of her face (although on a very good plane) which “may” cause her shoulders, during transition, to be parallel to the ground -almost no tilt! I can imagine some very odd golf shots coming from world #1. Your thoughts? Charlie

Lift the left heel and she is pretty close to Sam Snead's golf swing. Both of them turn/turned in the barrel, stay on the same plane, keep the spine angle to the balanced finish, and have a certain fluidity to their swing. Sammy's left arm was even more ramrod straight at the top of the backswing due to the remarkable flexibility he had. Bodes well for Ms. Ko's future.

Yall need to stop it with the swing analysis videos. Seriously! Us hackers have enough problems. My experiences with this game for the last 5 years had taught me that analyzing professional swings is the worst thing u can do. For us hacks, the best way to improve our ball striking is to stop hitting so many balls at the range to figure it out. Go figure it out on the course. The reason why we sucked for so long and never improved is because we practiced our swings off those matts. The matts give false positive. What feels so good on the matt doesn't correlate on the course because we are trying to repeat a swing that works on the matt but doesn't work on real grass. Read that sentence 10 times. In addition, We need to stop focusing so much on how each of our body parts must move in the golf swing. What we should focus on is how to make the golf club become an extension of our body. And let the body moves on its own. Our body can do some amazing things without us interfering. We don' think about how we walk or run. We just do it. The same can be said about the golf swing. Just go out there on the course and let it happen. Don' be too concern with how ur body move during the golf swing. Let go of the need to analyze every moving parts. Sometime u hit the ball straight and sometime u don't. We all know how to hit the golf balls cuz we all hit at least a thousand times on the range. Just let go and let the body takes over. Don' analyze too much. If u do this, u will enjoy ur round much more and have fun hacking away.
