  • This election coming up in November may have the most impact on the health and well.being of seniors and baby boomers of any election in modern history. It could directly impact how much money seniors receive for social security and when. It could also derermine who can and.can't qualify for health care prior to age 65, and what care you receive after age 65. At the local level issues that impact nomads and folks in rvs, vans and campers boondocking and camping could be affected. How about whether or not you can place a tiny house on your property or afford to stay in your home due to increasing house taxes or insurance based on who is elected as County assessor or Insurance Commissioner?
So much attention is being given to the race for President and so much rhetoric is being flung out there that many of the issues that could have a devastating impact on our day to day lives and the people who decide these issues are being overlooked.
In this video I share some of those issues and who some of the people are who will make decisions impacting seniors. I encourage each and everyone of you to do your research on the various candidates from the President all the way to your local officials and their positions on critical issues that could impact not only your financial well being but quite possibly your life if you cannot get the medical care you need.

Ask what Party gave us Social Security in the 1930's? What Party gave us Medicare and Medicaid in the 1960's ? The President needs a House and Senate Majority to pass legislation to protect our Social Security, Disability Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Taxing the wealthy their "fair share" will provide funding to maintain these programs. (I personally believe all citizens should have the same health care that Congress awards itself as a lifetime benefit for serving in Congress)

    • @lizholmes176
      @lizholmes176 12 днів тому

Congress does not award itself healthcare as a lifetime benefit. Congress pays a portion of their own healthcare while they serve and then have the option to pay for their healthcare through the same system when they retire...just like the healthcare that I currently have and pay for after retiring from the private sector. What exactly is a 'fair share' to tax someone that took the risks, worked hard and became wealthier and planned better than someone that didn't earn as much or plan their financial needs? I don't understand why anyone would think it's ok to punish someone that was mindful with their money should be taxed more to pay for someones benefits that were not mindful of their life and money.

Thank you for your research & thoughtful commentary.
Three points I'd like to make: We have to carefully research the positions of the candidates ourselves. The candidates purposely misstate their opponent's position in very emotional & inflammatory ways.
Second: There are many discussions about enacting price controls on food or rents. Again, research for yourself what the impact of price controls are. Don't take a candidate's statements at face value.
Third: A candidate's position on how to curb inflation is very important. When inflation increased, the value of a fixed social security payment decreased. Vice versa, if inflation decreases, the purchasing value of your social security improves. I think this is more critical that social security policy because inflation has an immediate impact on our daily finances.

They're gonna fix you within 10 days and throw you on the streets. No matter if you can find a place or not, they're gonna say it's not their problem. That's how cruel sentence cities and towns can be so Gloria is right about that. It depends on where you live and what part of America you live as America itself is. What Project 2025 says about Medicaid
Medicaid is a free or low-cost national public health insurance program designed to provide coverage to eligible low-income adults, pregnant women, children, older adults and people with disabilities. As of March 2024, more than 82 million Americans were enrolled in Medicaid.
Project 2025 calls for Medicaid’s federal funding to be converted from its current model - the federal government paying a fixed percentage of states’ Medicare costs - to a model in which the federal government pays a block grant (or fixed amount) to each state, regardless of their specific costs.
Block grants have been floated several times over the years. Such proposals are typically “designed to fail to keep pace with expected enrollment and/or health care cost growth in order to deeply cut federal Medicaid spending over time, relative to current law,” according to a report on Project 2025 from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
In 2017, a Medicaid block grant plan proposed by Republicans would have slashed Medicaid’s federal funding by more than 25% over 10 years and 30% over 20 years, according to a Congressional Budget Office projection.
For those receiving Medicaid benefits, Project 2025 also proposes coverage with “time limits” or “lifetime caps” to “disincentivize permanent dependence” on those benefits. And while the proposal is vague on details, it suggests that the incoming administration eliminate Medicaid protections and reform mandatory versus optional Medicaid benefits. Some of the benefits that Medicaid is currently required to cover are X-ray services, rural health clinic visits, nursing home care and early prevention and diagnostic screenings.
Project 2025 also proposes adding a work requirement, “similar to what is required in other welfare programs,” as well as raising premiums for higher-income beneficiaries. Eligibility should be redesigned, too, the plan reads, “to serve the most vulnerable and truly needy and eliminate middle-income to upper-income Medicaid recipients."
One recent attempt to impose a Medicaid work requirement led to thousands of beneficiaries losing coverage. Arkansas added a Medicaid work requirement in 2018 and removed it in 2019. During the nine-month period the requirement was active, roughly 18,000 enrollees lost coverage, according to The Commonwealth Fund, a health care policy think tank.
The Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank, said lifetime caps on Medicaid benefits could cause “devastating coverage losses.” Specifically, the approximately 18.5 million beneficiaries who qualify for Medicaid based on income alone - around 20% of those receiving Medicaid - would be particularly at risk of losing their coverage.

What have they been doing & how have they been voting? Are their actions lining up with their talk? Are they putting Americans first? Are they spending money overseas & supporting wars? Not to be deceived by what they say they're going to do but what have they been doing? We need a safe nation to be in to be here & have Healthcare matter. Yes aid & funds for Medicare is important. But..sorry we need to help others but giving Medicare to millions of people coming into this country is taking away what's available funding for us here. Many who say they are pro Medicare & pro seniors are the ones inviting foreigners into the US, giving them funding taking away from Americans. Sorry it's the truth. Everyone who makes this amount stops having it taken out of their check. They no longer make contributions. The suggestion is to raise the cap to $400,000 which would add an estimated net revenue of $66.5 BILLION. This is much more reasonable and realistic.

I know so, so many people who are battling with health issues --diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. But most don't even begin to research why it would be that they're in a state of such compromised health. I'm 79 and about 4 years ago I began doing research on various subjects that I was curious about and was I ever surprised at what I found. At that time, I had an A1C of 7.3, blood pressure at 160-170 over 85 or so, on a good day. Then, I totally stopped eating sugar or anything containing sugar; stopped eating processed food, like lunch meat, snacks, etc. I am now completely off of all medication and all readings are now normal. But I had to be curious enough to find out what was going on. End of sermon.

Hello, I have discussed the American Election with many of my friends. I live in Australia. We all agree that whomever is elected for president has a huge job in turning America around to what we previously knew it to be. So much has changed in your country over many years. No country is perfect but we see such differences in the general living conditions and finances. America has around 300M population compared to our 27M. I hope that all Americans can turn your country around to have a Medicare system similar to ours. Bless you all in up coming election. Cheers xxn
