Peter Gorobets, Harpsichord,
Christoph Croisé plays on a cello made by Joseph Guarnerius filius Andreae made in 1721 in Cremona, generously loaned to him by the Beare's Violin Society (www.beares.com/beares-interna...) and on a replica of a Tourte (father) baroque bow made by the Italian bow maker Walter Barbiero. Peter Gorobets plays on a replica of a Michael Mietke harpsichord (1700) made by Christian Rothe (cembalobau-berlin.de/) some years ago.
Recorded at the Friedenskirche Berlin-Charlottenburg, Germany, 9.2.2020)

Great playing 👏👏👏 Greetings from Turkey 🇹🇷
Thank you very much greetings back from Switzerland 🇨🇭!
My favourite interpretation of this piece, thank you for this wonderful performance.
Thank you!!
The combination of two stringed musical instruments that have a high-tensioned use of changed harmonics and a dignified energy are impressive. Thank you!
Thanks so much 🙏🙏🙏🙂
maestro

@@CCROISEC luego nos echamos un duo de rossini o un dragonetti, online porq soy de cdmx
Le duo s'est bien rodé et surtout le pianiste qui n'a plus besoin de sa partition et s'exprime bien son ressenti. Super
Merci beaucoup!!🙏🙏🙏
One of the best, better balanced renditions with cello. Perhaps the first I see with Baroque cello.
🙏🙏🙏🙂
Superb performance. So demanding on a four string baroque cello. Bravo!
Thanks so much 🙏🙏🙏
Lovely playing, thank you so much!
Thanks a lot 🙏🙏🙂

@@CCROISEC btw..Those shoes are totally BOSS!
John Stuart thanks a lot 🤣🤣🙏🙏🙏
Very nicely played, but why are you using a Baroque bow in conjunction with a over-all modern 4-string cello, wich requires thump position (contrary to a 5-string-instrument) for this piece and has also an endpin?
I was using a Guarneri filius Andreae cello from 1721 with raw gut strings and baroque bow by Walter Barbiero… I change a lot between baroque and modern set-up and don’t take out the endpin since it doesn’t change anything sound wise …
@@CCROISEC I only saw the long fretboard, which I guess isn‘t original in any sense, the angle may be more baroque, but thump positions aren‘t.
I am so interested in this, because I am training this piece on a modern five string Luis and Clark carbon fiber cello with modern bow but in 415 tune…
I‘ve tried gut strings but they didn’t match with my cello soundwise, don‘t know, if I used the wrong gut strings or it is a problem determinated by design.
@@trabouliste1037 yes that’s right! The fingerboard is not original at all and if it would be completely baroque it would be with a straight (to the corpus) neck… which puts less tension then on the cello, but of course is quite a huge difference in playing (I used this complete baroque set up in my Bach Suites recording…) but in my opinion what makes the biggest difference is: gut strings, baroque bow and no endpin… I personally like that combination… I used Aquila gut strings for A and D and gut and silver wound pirastro chorda for G and C!
Beautiful, sensitive playing, but there's a balance problem: the right hand of the keyboard, carrying a part as important as the other 2, is very quiet.
Yes it’s super tricky to get the right balance between cello and harpsichord! In this recording the cello is put a bit in front!!
@@CCROISEC This is a Baroque cello (or at least Baroqued), comparing to other performances (with modern cellos), this cello is the quietest I heard in live performances.
But still, a Viola da Gamba has a still thinner sound.

Hi Christophe, wonderful performance! What kind of string did you use on the cello? It seems that the cello has a modern string holder. The sound is gorgeous
I used raw gut for A and D and wound gut for C and G, pirastro chorda! It does have a modern string holder but I just put the gut strings on it!
