Fabulous playing, interpretation and recording! I started learning this piece 7 months ago on my 75 birthday. I can play mov 2 and 3 . I started cello with no musical background other than listening on my 70th birthday.

I am sure you spent many days marking up your score for your particular flourishes, fingering, and bowing. Could you share it? I put the whole score into Musescore so I can easily mark up the music and print it for learning.

@@louispitagno9422 Thanks. I can now play m2 and m3 from memory. Now I need another year to make it sound good with a little vibrato.

Me too. I’m 73. Such a thrill to be learning this at this stage of life.

One of the most beautiful music pieces that I heard recently. Like an elegy.

I just love the delicateness of the harpsichord in the background. Or is it really in the background? To me this is baroque. I used to know a friend from such a young age, 12 or so who's parents were music teachers and he took up the cello, he drifted away from all of us as he got accepted To Julliard and didn't go to our graduation. Later he became a member of the Milwaukee symphony orchestra but very sadly got MS at age 46 or so and died at age 56. I can't imagine the effect of him not being able to play any longer at such a young age. Now when I hear this music I wonder what were his favorites? Back then we didn't have texts or E-mail so could not keep in touch.

Your interpretation and ornaments give such a new carácter and fresh air to this piece that was much needed. Enhorabuena!

Hahaha, yes one could say so! But I don't want to give the impression to play on a proper baroque cello. I use a baroque bow and play on gut strings, but of course the cello has a modern setup. I play without an endpin just for fun. It gives the possibility to move the body and the cello much more freely and I like that a lot!

@JohannesRaabCellist Indeed, and realistically, this is a classical setup. So in HIP you're a classical cellist playing vivaldi. Which is quite cool
