Super helpful! I'm from Maine so the 3) 12mm bolts were tough, Much patience/heat and PB Blaster. I needed vaseline to get hose on the far right to slip over inner plastic O-ring on connecter hose. Erased codes and I have my fingers crossed the won't come back.
Great video… did it give off the code P0456? (Which is small evap leak) my check engine light came on out of nowhere. The traction control is blinking and the vsc light is on… car runs great still… replaced gas cap, alternator, and mass airflow sensor… I’m stumped
Yeah that’s the code I have too! 2013 with 150k Thinking of doing this as well. CEL/ABS light came on and I did the alternator 10,000 miles ago. The only thing I can think of is I overfilled the tank on accident recently I was at over quarter tank and gas pump said over 10 gal which I know is not correct. Did purge valve canister on engine back driver side of engine. It stop throwing these codes but their is still something wrong. Has to be vent or this. When I'm pumping gas it will stop pumping 3 gallons short from topping it off. I have to pump very slowly to get it topped off to full. Keep everyone posted.

@@JuanGomez-gb6ce I had taking it to my mechanic and he couldn’t find the issue, but he located where it’s coming from. He found it weird that it’s only coming from behind the block no where near the fuel line at all. He ran a leak test nothing, checked fuel pump nothing . Did it fix your issue replacing the heater part?
2014 throwing codes po441 and po445 . Replaced purge valve and had it smoked tested. No leaks after smoke test and still throwing codes. I'm going to change the charcoal canister assembly and hopefully that will fix it .

Does a dealership, for instance, have to do a "smoke test" to determine what a P2402 DTC error message determines? I'm curious as to how they/we determine the exact part so one doesn't have to change out 2-3 parts before resolving the P2402 message.
That code is related to the evap pump being shorted internally and it would require checking the wires and the function of the pump. I would not perform a smoke test for this code
Hi dear , good job , please help advicing , if the purge valve or the charcoal camister have anything to do with extra fuel consumption , i just purchased a corolla le 2017 and terribly it consumes 20 liters for a 100 km , and it is only 33,000 miles the car is still brand new , no check engines or other pilots , but i also noticed that when i switch the key on before ignition the eco pilot that is located under the check engine doesn't appear with the other pilots (abs, check engine .. etc) , that desappears in 3 seconds if everything is fine , is that normal jn thos type of car , knowing that the eco system on top of dash board that controls my pedal keeps eluminating sometimes depending on acceleration , please help , and thank u in advance .
Hello, I am no sure why you would be getting poor fuel economy, do you have a lot of extra weight in the car? Are the tires properly inflated? Good air filter? that's where I would check first! Yes i replace purge valve canister solenoid, gave my 2016 corolla 5 mpg better fuel mileage. Also replaced spark plugs because they foul out if this system isn’t working properly.

So what were the driving symptoms? What code(s) did the computer put out? How did you know the canister was the problem OR did it fix your problem? My relative's is throwing a P0441 code. I know about the Purge Valve in the engine bay which can cause this code as far as i understand. The gas tank cap was no longer clicking on installation so that was replaced. If the code is erased, the check engine light can stay off for days and then suddenly turn back on--same code. Nice for you to show the video BUT you should give more background on WHY. Is there fuel pressure that we need to relieve? Do we need to remove any fuse? How about disconnecting negative terminal on battery since we are disconnecting electrical connectors? Thanks.
If it makes you feel more comfortable to disconnect the battery go for it! Just make sure you have the security code for the radio beforehand. There is no fuel pressure in the system that we are working on here. Just the ventilation for the tank. Certainly, don't have anything that could cause a fire nearby!
Recently my car has been throwing the P0453 code, it’s a 2017 with 54K miles. Since then I’ve noticed my fuel efficiency has drastically lowered. I’m talking driving 3 miles and losing 8-10 miles worth of gas. There’s no gas leak, but the evap system code keeps coming up. Should I take it to a mechanic to diagnose the exact issue so then I can fix it myself or just replace the entire canister?? I just don’t want to spend so much money on such an expensive part relatively speaking, for then that not to be the problem and it just ends up being some dumb sensor in the evap system.
I’m having the same problem. Thinking it is the vapor pressure sensor (fuel tank pressure sensor ) but can’t seem to find it anywhere. I’m guessing it’s either built into the charcoal canister but I don’t see any wiring for. Smoke test the car and found no leaks. Thinking of just replacing the canister but taking second opinions.

So I have seen these go bad at less than 30k miles, mainly from over filling the fuel tank. Check with your dealership if that is under warranty for emissions systems!
Well I'm tired of getting the check engine light same codes. Going to take the canister off and flush it out or blow it out before spending 450 Canadian on one. Crazy the cars less than 6yrs old and 45k miles and I need a charcoal canister.... I'll let you know how I make out lol
Little update... Last few fuelups the nozzle was kicking out. Took the charcoal canister off and blew the lines all out and put 50psi through the canister. Interesting thing was when I took the fuel tank vent off I got a small amount of water come out. Just fueled and nozzle did not kick off ... Could that have been causing the cel? Don't know but it's off for now. I havent ruled out the purge valve yet. Dont have the tools to force the car to do a purge cycle.... really trying to avoid a new charcoal cannister which is what i suspect the dealer would treat me with along with a $700 bill if i took it in.
@@666dynomax It would be expensive to have the dealer do it, if you live local to the Washington DC area I may be able to help you get a better price on the part. It is possible you had an obstruction and there should not be any fluid in the canister. Most of the time I see them fail from overfilling with fuel and then that fuel goes into the canister. There are a few other conditions that may have happened causing your gas filling to kick off. But Keep us posted! Happy Motoring

getting codes p2401 p043e p043f p2402 p2419 p0441 p0455 on my 2014. has about 45,000mi on it. How the heck would the cannister be bad. I was hopeful it was the gas cap or evap purge solenoid but somehow the data doesn't seem to point to either of those two. and the solenoid checks good. Pretty disapointing such an expensive part of the system didn't last that long...
We have seen this part fail a lot recently across all Toyotas and scions with this setup. One thing that is common with all of the problems was that the drivers fill their car up with fuel. When it clicks off they keep adding more fuel and overfill it. That fuel then goes into the charcoal canister and ruins it.
@@foxhoven26 charcoal cannister. in canada there is a filter 77706-12020 they came up with to prevent (?) help (?) it from happening again, seems to be common on the rav4 as well, I have not bought that part yet, i was contemplating selling the car so i didnt bother with it but now that winter is coming i may... it seems to be related to snow/salt/water from what i've read... and my old cannister did have water coming out of it when i cleaned it out
A shop quoted my friend $650 dollars to replace this, I don't understand how they think it should cost that much i'm going to offer to do it for him instead.

Boy why would it go bad? Cars are sure junk today, I had 3 Corolla's 84, 93 and 95 that went 300,000 miles with no parts. I now have a 2009 Corolla, since new it has had a new water pump, new rack and pinion, new alternator, new window switches, new air bags, new spark plugs, new ignition coils, new gas cap, new purge valve what a POS!!!!! I'M DONE WITH TOYOTA FOREVER!!! ONLY 99,000 miles on it going to give the car away!!
LOL You ain't seen nothing if you think that is a lot of rust! You think there are no rust problems in the United States? Try watching South Main Auto on UA-cam--- an excellent mechanic. See what he has to say about rust in New York State or any State in that area. Mid-west has the same problems with rust. Anytime you have snow, sand and salt for ice, you got serious rust problems. North Pole would probably be better BUT you won't see many salted roads up there.

From looking at it in the video, it looks like the leak detection pump is part of the canister and can be replaced separately.

@@Revitauto That's EXACTLY what the service advisor told me. He said to fill the tank until gas pump nozzle shuts off but never try to top it off.

Boy why would it go bad? Cars are sure junk today, I had 3 Corolla's 84, 93 and 95 that went 300,000 miles with no parts. I now have a 2009 Corolla, since new it has had a new water pump, new rack and pinion, new alternator, new window switches, new air bags, new spark plugs, new ignition coils, new gas cap, new purge valve what a POS!!!!! I'M DONE WITH TOYOTA FOREVER!!! ONLY 99,000 miles on it going to give the car away!!

LOL You ain't seen nothing if you think that is a lot of rust! You think there are no rust problems in the United States? Try watching South Main Auto on UA-cam--- an excellent mechanic. See what he has to say about rust in New York State or any State in that area. Mid-west has the same problems with rust. Anytime you have snow, sand and salt for ice, you got serious rust problems. North Pole would probably be better BUT you won't see many salted roads up there.
The way to replace this is to take it to a mechanic !!!
