@@starofthesea1943 Yes, naturally the rain is quite heavy and loud so we can't record too much - but we have made a video about it - ua-cam.com/video/R1GpIgI1p9A/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing! Wouldn't it be difficult to maintain and market when you have so many varieties with in a small area. You need different measures, watering etc which varies from one to other. Also when you marketing you have to find multiple traders/buyers as you have to deal with too many varieties and all in small portions. Please share your experience on this.
these quantities are looking small in this video because we have shown you around 1/8th of an acre. We have the same crops growing in other parts of our 12 acre land as well. Hope this clears up your query
Hello Mam, I from M.P started my own small Permaculture Farm just a few months ago. I am growing all kinds of vegetables in half of the area the other half i have left for dense tree plantation or food forest would appreciate your suggestions on the same. I have planted different types of trees on the boundary like Neem (both bitter and sweet), Guvava, Lemon, Moringa, Mango, Banana and quite a few papayas. This was done mostly on experimental basis and to create a mix of trees rather than mono cropping. All trees are 10ft apart except for Banana and Papaya which are planted in between two big trees like Guava and Neem
Lapped up your video. It was a feast to the eyes and informative. When do you know its time to remove the sunflower crop? Do they flower only once? What do you do with your harvested cotton?
Once the sunflower is at its peak (the seeds are the biggest and the petals have dried up) then you know its time to harvest the flower for the seeds. If you wait a day or two extra, you may even see some flower seeds being eaten by birds - that's an indication that you should definitely harvest them. Yes each sunflower stalk flowers only once. With the harvested cotton, we made 4 quilts last winter. Planning to make a shawl with the cotton from this year.
i din't understand what you said.....the sugarcane is 2 yr old or the seeds from which you grew are 2 yr old ? .So do you buy seeds every time , don't you use from your previous harvest .Are these GMO seeds or heirloom , desi.ThankYou
It's wonderful how ambivalent you were towards the wildlife visiting your crops. What is your total area ? Have you mentioned it before? Apologies if you have. Also, how often do you come to the farm ? Again wonderful video and editing by the girls. (Better to keep the names out). :-)
chopped and directly put on top! Green compost is what the ginger needed. They dry up and degrade on the raised bed itself. Hope this helps, thanks for tuning in!
One of permaculture's design principles includes leaving a wildlife zone in your property. We rarely see snakes and other things because we have left space for them - they still have a habitat! If we had cut all the trees, cleared all the land and used chemicals to farm - we would have encountered many more animals as they would have no place to live. We live and let them live - that's our aim.
silver oak and casaurina are the tress planted on our boundary in the form of windbreak trees. Hope this helps. Want to know the advantage of windbreak trees? Watch this - ua-cam.com/video/Wul6TLSF7oU/v-deo.html
