    This video is perfect. Much more helpful than all the blogs/articles I was reading on how to choose a surf foil. Cheers.

    Awesome video! If I could share any tips:
    If you are new to prone foiling, the board is key. You want a board that’s longer and wider and has stability. It will give you the stable platform you need to find your backed and get in the foil. A slower and more stable foil is also preferred.
    Don’t be afraid to start with used gear. You’re gonna learn quickly and grow out of it. But it’s often gear you need to form fundamentals and then you’ll know what to get.

    Thanks for this video it helps a lot. Been surfing 40 years and wingfoil this last two and riding waves comfortably. I’ve been thinking about prone foil and used my Naish hover 75l with my fone phantom 1280 85cm mast for a session the other day. I’m only 65 kg so it seems like the foil aspect is covered. I’ll use the board for a while and then invest in a proper prone foil board. This video helps a lot interesting info about the stab I’ve been thinking about messing around with that for the winging changing from the c275🤙🤙

      @@Wksfr fine and dandy chose a really soft crumbling wave to go out on. Did two 45 minute sessions to try it then on the third was able to paddle in get up and ride around 50 meters. No pumping back out I’ll start giving that a go once I’m settled catching and riding waves.

      Nice! great to be in a position to have all the kit and some of the skills you need to make a start, your 75L will help figure foot positioning. For sure the stab plays a big part in stability too, it's well worth playing with it when you're looking for more/less help with grip.
      Prone foiling is not an easy journey, but the reward is well worth the effort! Keep in touch if you need any advice.

     @poseidonwatersportsuk This is super helpful info.
    I am about 80kg or 175lbs and looking to prone/surf foil here in Hawaii as a beginner.
    Would a 5.0' x 20.0" 44L prone board be an ok spec to start with?

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk  Місяць тому +1

      thanks for watching.
      5'0 44L sounds a perfect first board.
      you'll start eyeing up something smaller once you start linking waves, but until then that sizes will really help your wave count

    What a great,video. I will start with the spitfire 1030. What about the boards, which brand do u recommend for a 35l board? Thx

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk  8 місяців тому

      Nice foil choice, just be aware the 1030 has stacks of lift, so it’ll make pumping a dream, but steep sections and your pop up could be tricky to hold it down, maybe worth putting it towards the back of the track to begin.
      Hydrofoil wing screws can be a handy tool when figuring where is the right place to sit the mast for correct lift.
      There’s loads of good production and custom board brands now days. Shapes are always developing and some designs are more suited to certain locations, it’s worth contacting your local shop for the latest. If you are in the UK welcome to give us a shout.
      In short a few that come to mind - Armstrong, f-one and freedom have a solid range of production options. Appletree, Amos and swift make lovely high spec options.
      Plenty more good brands too.

    Thanks a lot for the precise info.!!! I have a question, If I buy my first setup from a brand, let's say f-one, then I can use wings from other brands with that mast, fuselage and stabilizer.??
    Can I mix the equipment or I need to keep buying the same brand in order to improve my setup.?!? Thanks in advance.!!!! 🤙🤙🤙

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk  7 місяців тому +1

      good question, boards have a universal track so you don't need the same brand board and foil, but should be aware that mast position is important and some brands like to fit further forwards or back in relation to your rear foot, and whilst there is a small amount of adjustment you should research to avoid a clash / poor tuning due to opposing positions.
      All foil systems are unique to the brand and whilst they will be designed modular so you can change components, the fittings differ hugely between brands and parts are not compatible with each other.
      Ie. an F-one foil will not fit on an armstrong mast.
      There is a growing amount of after market adaptors to bridge components, but realistically you should take your time choosing which foil system you invest into as once you've put money in the mast, fuse, wings and bolts you are committed to this brand unless you want to start fresh.
      Welcome to give us a call for advise on making these choices

    4,5 really? I just read the advice on gong: To be comfortable we recommend removing 25 to your weight in order to define the ideal volume. For example on the Lance:
    If I weigh 65kg, I take 25 off, I get to 40. So I’m going for the Lance 5’0.
    If I weigh 75kg, I take 25, I get to 50. I go for the Lance 5’4.
    If I weigh 85kg, I take 25, I get to 60. I go for the Lance 5’8.
    They dont even have 4,5...

      Nice video by the way! not so much info out there so this helped so much. Do you think gong could be a good place to start as a begginer?

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk  4 місяці тому

      Choosing size is all subjective to your size, local conditions, previous experience and how steep you want to make the learning curve vs how often you want to change your kit.
      Watching back our video nearly a year after filming it, I should have spent more time chatting about board size. I would say going 4'5 / 35L is suitable for an 'average' sized person to learn in average conditions who gets plenty of water time and doesn't mind a challenge.
      It's probably a bit optimistic for most and not the easy path to learning.
      If you are looking for an easier path, now days i would recommend going up to something like 5' x 40L.
      But i'd advise people to be careful going too big when learning, because not only is 50L+ hard to duck dive, but you will also find it hard to control and pump once on foil, particularly if it's an older, wider design of board
