  • Beef ribs are my favorite part of the cow. So I decided to cook a rack of beef short ribs on the ASMOKE AS700P pellet smoker as my first cook. Here's the recipe for my Man Cave Magic #1 seasoning blend:
    Man Cave MAGIC #1
1 cup kosher or sea salt (fine or coarse grain is up to you)
1/2 cup freshly ground black pepper
    1/2 cup granulated garlic
    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
    1/2 teaspoon MSG (also optional)
On THIS rack of ribs, I took about a half cup of the Man Cave Magic #1 blend and added 1 tablespoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of ground cumin, and 1 teaspoon of ground coriander.

Traeger Pro22 or this Asmoke? Not sure if paying more for name brand without updated features of this one? This one on sale through home depot for $399 right now.

Tough question... I think both are similar in food output quality. The water feature on this ASMOKE is really irrelevant in my opinion. I don't see that it adds anything at all to the cook. In a showdown I would buy the Traeger if it was a choice between the two simply because Traeger is a very reputable company and they have been a round a long time.

So, because of the amazing deal, I went with the Asmoker 700. Running my first brisket and I can't seem to keep the temp down anywhere below 200. Did you have any issues with the display temp being 15-30 degrees higher than what you selected on the dial? If so, how did you handle? Thanks for sharing your info on this grill.

Nice video. Thanks. Looking at the ash all over the grill and the fact that you're spritzing the ribs indicates you're not using the ASAC system (the four trays in the drawer under grill filled with water - they are not just for flavoring). Using that system all that ash would settle down into the ash tray in the drawer. And you would have evened out the temp inside the grill and benefited by a faster smoke. Without that system, you're not using all the grills features. Will you be using that ASAC system in any upcoming project? Now that you've used the ASmoke Skylights 700p would you pay $799 for it? (I realize you may have received a complimentary grill for your expert review which is fine I do reviews on other type products and receive products for review.)

I would not pay $799 for it. I think there are better systems on the market in that price range.
