    Good info here, thanks! I find Warrior Difficulty to be fairly well balanced. Zombies start getting bullet-spongey at Survivalist imo.

    Bullet sponges and nerf bats is not true difficulty, give us more interesting zombies or mechanics and mini bosses at higher difficulties Fun Pimps! Reward harder diff :D

      mini bosses don't make sense in this game however it could add or make survival harder in some way other then bullet sponges

      Give zombies on Insane the ability to jump gaps effectively, navigate thin stretches so long as they are unobstructed, and a much better attack on the approach (IE, they're more likely to time hitting you when they close the gap).

      I wanna see Goliath zombies and monsters; ones more meant to be base/wall destroyers and big damage dealers. I also wanna see vultures be a bigger threat (like big swarms), and bees should make a comeback along with other bugs/dangerous critters being added (but no spiders). Lastly, there should be more gun variety instead of just one single 9mm pistol, one single SMG, etc.

    Feral sense is insane on console because the zombies can detect you when they're not fully rendered in. Say you're walkimg down a road and theres a zombie in the distance facing your direction, im pretty sure its possible for it to detect you before you can even physically see it because its so far away the cosole hasn't physically rendered it in yet.

    Great video, alings with the values I figured on my tests as well. For the harder difficulties I believe that warrior reduces the player damage by one sixth, which is 16.6666...% and so on, survivalist by two sixths (or one third, 33.3333...%) and insane by three thirds or exactly half. An interesting point that governs this topic is also figuring out which damages are affected by difficulty. From my experience it governs most weapons and traps, but the main groups not affected are explosives (grenades, dynamite etc. but not molotovs) and passive traps (mainly spikes). Excluded is also dart trap, for some reason. Feel free to make a video of it if you feel it's worthwhile, it would be interesting to watch!

    I wish that "the amount of damage you do" and "the amount of damage you take" could be changed separately.
    I would LOVE to run with zombies doing Insane damage, all of the time (exciting!). But I don't really enjoy super-tanky enemies (tedious af).
    I would use Insane incoming, and warrior outgoing, and never change it.
    A20 does have better scaling for incoming/outgoing damage though (compared to A19). It used to make enemies even more tanky at max diff.

      Feral Sense sucks though.
      It's kinda fun when outdoors. but when you're in a POI, all it does is make every single minute filled with constant groaning & wall banging downstairs.
      It's not hard, just annoying.
      And it screws up Agility pretty badly.

    I could have sworn that increasing the difficulty also changes some of the “default” settings in the other customization options. (The game giving suggestions on how to setup the zombies at that difficulty if you will rather than changing them outright.)

    i like to put the difficulty to low as possible cause all that does is increase or decrease their health pool, and zobies should have low health, easy to kill. so the way i make it harder is by making them always run, max zombies and now the feral sense

    5:20 Personnaly i think they need more options or spread some out like the difficulty splits it up into damage done and damage taken.
    Kinda like zomboid does with zombie lore. let us make heavy hitting, but weak zombies that are every where and will follow you for ages.

    Can you do a series with gigachad settings like insane, always running and permadeath. Im sure there is more difficult settings but would be interesting to see something actually challenging for you. You could modify the dmg numbers for insane diff

      Gigachad settings are a lot of fun, but not in "week 1". When you're running around with a pipe rifle and a stick (or _just_ a stick), gigachad settings are outrageously dangerous. The chances of ending the series in week 1 to permadeath is quite high. By sometime in week 2 though, it's much easier to manage.
      Basically, the natural difficulty curve of the game doesn't scale very well with game stage. It can be fun to try though, and if you make it through day 7 horde, you're basically home-free. Definitely do try it at home ;) but it's a tall ask from a content streamer who's cashing checks on having a series continue a while.

    I hope server options and difficulty gets much harder .. I have to scale zombie amounts massively when I play in a20 just to make it hard even at insane.

      Same.
      I wasn't sure if the game just got really easy, lately, or if I just got that good.
      The zombies are more of a nuisance, now, even at low levels, than a threat.

    I also adjust the block damage for scaling difficulty to my taste. Usually easy mining, and no sledgehammer hands zombies.

    I've been running into considerably less drops from killed zombies. But if this is all difficulty does, it's probably a placebo effect caused by avoiding more zombies than i used to (i wanted to try playing on insane for a bit just to see if i could. So far it's doable, but damn does it feel boring and needlessly unfair. guess that's why it's 'insane difficulty' though).

    Difficulty also affects Rage and Super Rage chances.
    R SR
    1: 0% 0%
    2: 15% 1%
    3: 30% 3%
    4: 35% 5%
    5: 40% 8%
    6: 50% 15%

    What makes the zombies move faster after taking damage I assume it is a standard mechanic that I just noticed more on higher because you cannot kill them as fast?

      oh i forget about that cus i usually just play nightmare anyway and it doesn't do anything on that setting but, it's called "rage"
      I'm not incredibly familiar with it but it doesn't seem to have much to do with difficulty itself

      we use arlene because the spawner is alphabetical so we go into the spawner, scroll to "zombie " and then click the first zombie. Arlene.

    Isn't retaliation rate determined by difficulty? (By retaliation I mean the rage caused by damage dealt)

      I'm not aware of that being a "rate" as much as just a chance to happen with each hit, if it takes more hits to kill, then it's more likely to trigger.
      It's also caused by other things but i'm not super informed on those things so i'll shut my face on that.

    I miss the option for every player to pick their own difficulty on a multiplayer server, since it just modifies the players dealt and taken damage every player should be able to have their own setting without making it weird. Some players may want more challenge than others and I dont like lowering the difficulty for myself just to fit the lowest skilled player.
