I am watching your videos from the United States, and what I truly enjoy seeing are the trains in their natural background, especially the beautiful English countryside. You do a great job capturing the wonderful charm of the landscape as well as the trains. Love your cinematography Kyle.
Good old Class 47's. On freight train duty's, support on steam hauled specials, Intercity days, London Eusterrn to Shrewsbury, changing locos at Wolverhampton
I was at Immingham loco in the mid 70"s. We had many Type 4's based there. Lovely locomotives to drive (number two end was the quietest) 47370 & 47379 were the prototypes for what eventually became the HST. Caperble of working in multi. 2750hp x 2! Fantastic engines. Sadly missed.
I have to say, to me there is no better sound than a Class 47 with the taps open with a heavy load on! Its absolute music to my ears and I could sit here and listen to it all night! More of the same please!
I grew up next to the Brighton main line so the only diesels I saw or heard were 33s and the daily 47s on the Brighton-Manchester cross country trains. Still love the sound of a duff working hard, just a shame I so rarely hear it these days Had the pleasure of a rail tour to Sheffield a few years ago behind Britannia 70013 "Oliver Cromwell", but I think I was more excited with the 47 haulage on the way back - brought back so many memories
Very enjoyable 11:40 of Sulzer burble, starting on this kind of freights they sound the best. Were the BFYE, 2 tone green FYE and large logo machines all from the Riviera stable?
Hats Off to you Kyle for another amazing video! Of the 555 Class 47s built originally by Brush only a handful remain in service with operators like Riviera Trains and Colas Rail Freight. Built in Britain = Built to Last!
Tons of footage from Donnie station, donnie was my old stamping ground... i left there just after the electrified the area around the time of class 91 testing and 89001 was around.
Miss the Sound of these on Mainline Railways, Replaced with Foreign Made Locomotives nowadays, Being born in 1973 always loved the sound of the Class 47 and Certain Classes Made back in the Late 1950s to the Early 1960s and Early 70s, Todays Generation of Trains haven't got the Distinctive Clag Sound.
Great collection enjoyed that. Would you allow me to lift a few bits of the sound track to use as backing for a model rail video I am planning please. I'd give credit and a link back etc.
Amazing rail video! Lovely images with Class 47 Locomotives, passenger and freight trains! Great engines sound and smoking! Also wonderful places and awesome landscapes! Good work, Kyle! Thumbs Up All the best & Respects from Romania Andrew
WBB Minerals What's the deal with the company do they own their own rolling stock & hire in a Loco? Sorry for sounding such a plumb, never seen such pristine equipment before!
+TheAudiostud I don't know all that much about WBB Minerals either, although some of their wagons are based at Doncaster. They're used to transport sand between Middleton Towers and Monk Bretton, Barnby Dun and Goole. GB Railfreight (GBRf) have the contract for this, so they provide locomotives for such workings.
Its amazing to see these locomotives hard at work on freight and passenger workings since there are abouts 50 years old. I think by 2030 or 2035 most of the Class 47s will be withdrawing or preserved.
Love watching these thrash videos but can I ask when you have 2 trains back to back both pumping out power are the controls linked simultaneously to each other or are they separate locos with separate controls both manned ??
Thank you. Most of the time on the the national railway network they are controlled simultaneously with the use of cables running between the two locomotives. However, sometimes the latter method is used, more commonly on heritage railways where two locomotives may have issues connecting together.
My favourite locos. They always looked and sounded the business in my eyes, besides the fact that they did so much, so well, for so long. Handsome is as handsome does!
The British Rail equivalent of the SD40-2 technically speaking is the class 59, it was built by EMD and near identical mechanically speaking. Only the class 59 had a different body shell design for BRs narrower loading gauge.
Excellent video and compilation - I love the diesel Class 47 (backbone of the BR network in 70's and 80's) along with the 86's and the Intercity 125 - shame that they were re-engined.
The BR blue large and small logo and BR two tone green are my favorite liveries also the intercity and rail freight liveries as well. Stick with the classic liveries and diesel loco designs there more better to look at going past through stations and countryside's plus they sound better. Modern diesels look good but they just don't sound right to me I like the class 37s growling sound and the class 20s chopper bike sound also the 47s sound great as well in this video.
I am a big fan of 47s, and think this is a good video. However, I would ask whoever films them, why can they not pan round and follow the engine as I don't really want to see carriages or trucks, just the engine. Thanks.
Thank you for watching. In my films, I prefer not to pan round onto the subject being filmed. However, if I make another film similar to this one of the 47's, I'll take this into consideration, for the viewing benefit of yourself, and perhaps others as well.

Great video! Don't realise how much you miss the exhaust beat of the big Sulzer power units!
+tony wilson Thank you very much!
absolutely love seeing these 47s doing what they do best, and to see them in the large logo livery is just amazing, feels like going back in time.

Great synchronised clagging from the doubleheader at 2:28!
AndreiTupolev Thank you very much for watching Andrei, Cheers - Kyle.
Marvellous footage, Kyle. It gave me butterflies!
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I thought the Class 37s and Class 47s got replaced by the newer Class 66s on freight services in the 1990s
Great collection enjoyed that. Would you allow me to lift a few bits of the sound track to use as backing for a model rail video I am planning please. I'd give credit and a link back etc.
Thank you very much. Yes, that's perfectly fine.
Top man, thanks very much :)
Is it just me or do the Brush engines on 47s and have the same whine as the Paxman Valenta, VP185 and the 56 Paxman Engines.
When you see two locos together, towing nothing- why have both running? Surely one running and towing the other while off will save diesel?
Amazing rail video! Lovely images with Class 47 Locomotives, passenger and freight trains! Great engines sound and smoking! Also wonderful places and awesome landscapes! Good work, Kyle! Thumbs Up

Love "The 47" Great to see them looking so good! They sound awesome! Thank you for taking the time to produce a "Cracking Vid" Great Work, Well Done!

I can't decide which thrashes better - the 37 or the 47 - love em both!
Was most of this filmed at Doncaster?
The 47 at 3:01 sounds like she's misfiring on the way up the revs 47843?
Almost sounds like one cylinder wasn’t invited to the party.
Hi! I live in the US but love Kyle's videos. Can someone tell me what "Thrash" means?
Thank you. 'Thrash' is a term often used to describe diesel locomotives when they are on full power, therefore making a lot of noise.
Its amazing to see these locomotives hard at work on freight and passenger workings since there are abouts 50 years old. I think by 2030 or 2035 most of the Class 47s will be withdrawing or preserved.
CM Headbanger most already are withdrawn. they've been going since 1962 and only a handful left
From Bruce Dickinson to David and Gareth Icke - all train geeks. The days of ripping the piss are over. Rejoice and enjoy.

Aaaah!!! Even to an American the beauty of Brush thrashing looks beautiful! Same with P42s and other GEs.
Thanks for watching.

These, the 08s and the 37s are right preservation cannon fodder aren’t they? There’s about 30 of these preserved right?
A very enjoyable video, more 47's on freight than I have seen in a while too !
+Diesel man mike Thank you!
Nice and neat engines ! Lovely to see them in heritage liveries.
mureseanu976 Thank you very much for watching, Cheers - Kyle.
How are these 47`s allowed to go solo when they are old locos?
they are still very reliable despite their age
Wat richard said thats why and they will out perform a lot of modern shit nowadays so shut up
Ben Conway so shut up? Are you 6? Moron
Great video, just love those big Sulzers, sheer music.
Thank you.
Excellent video and compilation - I love the diesel Class 47 (backbone of the BR network in 70's and 80's) along with the 86's and the Intercity 125 - shame that they were re-engined.
Only some of the 47s were re-engined and became 57s
I thought all the freight services are normally Class 66s
Such awesome footage of fantastic machines!
+Dan O'Rourke Thank you!
Dat turbo on the second clip... :O
SUPERB and Enjoyable. Well thought out locations
Thank you.
Very pleasant sound!
Thanks for watching.
fantastic most of these Doncaster ?
Thank you. Yes, quite a few of the shots were at Doncaster, where the 47's were fairly common during 2014/2015.
Cracking video love the 47s denis
Thank you.

Great video! It's nice to see that the English rail cars aren't all vandalized with graffiti like they are here in the U.S..
Thank you very much!
I guess that what us Aussies and Americans would call an Alco.
Great Video. Thanks for sharing.

I prefer the fixed angle personally. Coming or going :-)
