In '98, they played at the Church in Philly and ended up staying at my apartment. They also got to listen to my girlfriend breakup with me and start to move her stuff out. Breakfast was awkward.
Dang! That guitar guy was able to make it sound like there are two guitarists in there. He strums hard to accent subdivisions while his fretting hand is doing melodic patterns. How was he even able to pull off that technique back then? Simply genius.
Just discovered these guys on Spotify. I already liked a lot of other D.C. bands like Fugazi & Jawbox (& anything else J. Robbins has done since) but WOW, did I ever miss out on these guys! FANTASTIC BAND!
This is in my forever playlist! I love your music soooooo much. It got me thru my long hour drives to work and back from my first job after college and between band practice.
hope you have learned a lot of new stuff since then. i have been playing a while but i am a slow learner. just happy that i am at the skill level where i can play parakeet
@@bodybydada The 11/28/99 show was with Rainer Maria and was on the main stage. It was a Sunday and I have the flyer. If this footage is from the backstage, maybe it's from the show on 10/6/99 with Two Dollar Guitar? That was backstage.
I used to go to a lot of shows at the Black Cat and 9:30 Club back then, but I never knew anything about Faraquet. I saw a lot of fantastic bands in my years in DC, but obviously I missed a lot too. Thank you for sharing this here.
so glad to have stumbled upon this. Was a big fan back when they started - though they never came to the UK. Devin & Chad's new band is called Medications - check them out
How I never heard of Faraquet before is a mystery to me, I grew up in the DC region & thought I knew about its better & more interesting groups in my lifetime. This is very tasty stuff. A little Leo Kottke influence to my ear, maybe it's an homage to Takoma Records & John Fahey.

:O
I'm gonna name the novel I'm working on this ^
that's quite a story, lol
hahaha sorry...
"Jed it's me or Faraquet. You have to choose..."
Its so unique still to this day. Nothing touches this
I have been playing similar shit for years and never heard of them. Its really awesome to see someone do this shit so well. I love his guitar work.
Karate
They definitely influenced Jank.
@@ktakyontrue didn’t even think of that
such a good guitar player!!!!
A band immensely talented and way ahead of their time.

This drummer gets slept on. His right hand has some crazy endurance, he holds double time on the cymbals through most their songs
Funny thing is, drums wasn’t even his main instrument.
He’s so fun to watch! Love the way he bounces around

I saw them open for Fugazi back in the late 90's in Nashville. Still one of the best shows I've seen.
I miss this band. Opened for them in NC along time ago.
what band???

My apologies, the 11/28/99 show was indeed on the back stage. Thx again for the footage!

Their guitarist had to have had a right wrist of gold. Goddamn.
Wow '99 I was 10 years old then. I love this band
richard ayoade on drums
I thought the same thing
Is there nothing this man can't do?
Does everyone with glasses and curly hair look the same to you.
Come back Faraquet! Medications rules too! I would love to see you dudes play live with Fugazi and Three! (and everyone else of course)......!!!!!
Holy Cow!! Thank you so much!
King Crimson meets Slint and Unwound!

I saw Medications in Brazil must've been 2006 when I lived over there, incredible band..
for everyone not aware the drummer just recently learned how to play, he normally played bass i believe.
one of those 1001 brilliant shows that I have missed.. thx UA-cam!
even the video looks like a recording of a don caballero show
Sounds like them too since you can barely hear the vocals😭
So much talent.
Dudes such a good guitarist
this is awesome! thank you!
OMG! Cut Self Not! Dude guitar is soooooooo sick!
kinda insane when 2 of these guys are playing their "second" instruments...god damn what a band
This kicks such tremendous amounts of ass.
@hate5six please do some Faraquat. Pioneers so ahead of their time, still so intense and inventive. One of a kind
no wonder these guys were so happy to play in Pittsburgh. people cared and were into it!
"We"re cool" lol I would've been going fucking crazy
Dischord Records forever! Hail DC! Burning Down the House.!

How this doesn’t have more views, I’ll never know. Wish I could’ve seen this band live. Does Ocampo not like coming to the U.K? 😂
What an incredible band! Do they still exist or play live anywhere in Germany or Europe?
They broke up a long time ago now. Look up medications and the effects for more stuff from the same guitarist.
@@blagdiesel thank you!
