I really hope Pimax keeps developing this interchangeable lens system on their future headsets, i think its a great idea.
There is no need for a one size fits all headset in PCVR, the whole idea of PCVR is that you can customize it based on your needs.
Also, it's great to see you telling the fov of the standard lenses truthfully. The website STILL has the horizontal fov falsely advertised as 125. Please tell someone to update that.
It's a different tool Developers of Headsets use.

Isn't this achieved by reducing the binocular overlap? I have seen reports that it is... if so, this reduces the appeal significantly tbh.
For reals no mention of this?
The early samples did reduce overlap, but it was still better than the aero.

Any comment on the reduced binocular overlap of the Wide FoV lenses. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Wider FoV comes with some compromise...

Great to see Pimax keep pushing the limits of wider FOV, it's my biggest gripe with current headsets, My Quest 3 isn't enough and it does break the immersion constantly seeing the side of the goggles.
A little out of my price range but I hope one day to get a proper VR headset with wide FOV.

barely more fov! still does not compete with thier older headset fov like my pimax5k+ which I still swear by today after 5 years.

Just keep in mind guys, that the mirror views used in this video are misleading and do not accurately represent the FOV increase you will get. This is because Martin has the Wide FOV headset in a position that is further back/away from the planes dash in the cockpit, which will make it appear as a wider FOV than it actually would be if the person was positioned in the exact same spot, relative to the dash. The same effect has occurred in the steam VR Home Screen examples. Just thought I would note this so as to avoid any disappointment if considering purchasing.
Would have been nice to have a mention of the binoculars overlap reduction that most commented on with the prototype versions too.
For me personally, this is still not significant enough of a FOV upgrade, for me to get rid of my 8KX and buy a Crystal sadly. 120 degrees horizontal is my minimum horizontal FOV that I’m willing to compromise down to, which hopefully the Somnium VR1 will provide early next year. Then will no doubt grab the Pimax 12K. 😅

Do these work with the HonsVR prescription lenses for the Crystal?
Martin been changing lenses since HTC Vive, such a wonderful feature. I wish I could change out my lenses on my PSVR2 I have a small smudge from my prescription glasses rubbing them. I would buy one of these crystal headsets if it would work on my PS5. I wonder how many more of these Crystal headsets you guys, would sell if it we’re PS5 compatible… 🤔
And also if it could play my Quest games in standalone mode. It would be the all in one headset. If it could do all that… I would gladly buy one of these. 😉👌
I'm wondering what is the point of the original lenses now, if the new ones are just as good but wider fov. Why not just ship with the wider lenses as standard in future?

Hello,after a few days my pimax crystal stopped working.After inserting a charged battery,the red light on the start button is on.I can't turn on the standalone mode and I can't connect the crystal to the pc.I tried some advice from you tube,but still no change.Is there any solution or is it necessary to send the crystal to the service?Thank you in advance for your advice.
100-115 FOV is not nearly enough. Minimum for me is 140. 8KX has great FOV but the binocular overlap kills it. Fingers crossed for 12K.
What headset do you have that has 140 degrees that ISN'T the 8k / 5k series? I can't think of a single one that reaches anywhere near that high.
I'm excited for these new lenses, I love the crystal for DCS, so much better thatn the HP Reverb G2 and even better that the Aero in my opinion

FOV is so underrated in the VR industry. Pimax is one of those companies who will do what others won't.

do we know if existing VR prescription lenses will work in them or do we have to order new ones when available ??
I doubt that my VR Rock lenses will fit as we had trouble with them fitting on the 35ppd lens due to my high prescription.
VR Rock produced a set of bespoke mounts to solve my problem.
You said the Pimax is bundled with the 35ppd glass lens? Are these already attached to the PIMAX? or are they an accessory?
They come with the Pimax attached. No need to buy the 35ppd lenses separately.
I don't understand why these lenses are teased, but cannot be ordered, or actually why they are not just an option to choose when ordering a crystal in the first place

You talk about the pre-production lenses already reviewed, but I thought the production lenses are different? Without a variety of reviews on the actual lenses I cannot go ahead because in Aus. there is no way to try them out.
The lenses are still not available, nobody knows when they will be. When the production lenses will be available (in several months I hope) there will be probably still a lot of time for the independent reviews to test them.
Lack of eye-tracking on the high PPD lenses is quite disappointing, I’ll be curious to see how chromatic aberration is on these wide FOV lenses
Hoping my prescription lenses will be compatible with the new lenses….. was this tested?

Probably another overprice accessary. 140 fov advertise on Crystal and this should be included but i guess its gonna be $150 to $200 accessary

Do not buy the HMDs. They are terrible with bad chromatic aberration and distortions. Stay away and save your money. And 2:33 they not NOT HAVE edge to edge clarity.
