I absolutely love all of your commentary and fun banter, And, and, I really appreciate the absence of background music (so unnecessary I feel, and can be so distracting.) I've been gel printing for about 1.5 years now (kind of obsessed with botanical prints and abstract landscapes) - Sooo glad to subscribe, and will go back and watch your other vids too! Great stuff Amanda!
Wow, thank you SO much, Kathy. What a lovely comment, I truly appreciate it. I’m so glad you’re here too!! Botanicals on the gel plate are super yummy, eh?
Reply to @brooksk818…I am in complete agreement. Glad I read the comments before writing my own…couldn’t have written it better. Soooo nice to not have the music
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been on a personal mission to try and get artists to understand that background music is not only distracting, it’s irritating - especially when they’re having to shout over it. What amazes me is that I understand that the use of music in the editing, and with copyright issues, it’s a nightmare to add. So, do yourselves a favour, take a leaf out of Amanda’s book here, and just avoid it altogether. Win win! ☺️ New subscriber btw - fun video and loved the results.
Hi Maria from UK, you’re like a breath of fresh air, love this technique I’m fairly new to gelli printing and can’t wait to try this. Look forward to catching up with your other videos. Thanks 😊
I really enjoyed this technique. I am making backgrounds for Christmas cards and this will add another string to my bow. Too much banter for my taste but others obviously appreciated it so keep it up.
Thanks so much, Carol, I appreciate your feedback. I’m new to making videos so still getting my footing, finding my comfort with the camera, etc. so the banter could come from a fear of silence or “dead air” or nerves maybe? 😂 Anyway, I’m grateful for your comment cos it helps me grow! This technique is a great idea for Christmas cards, hope you have fun with it! (Can you believe it’s almost Xmas already?!)
Cool effect! *The blue towels are "shop towels" generally used by mechanics. That's why they were in the trunk of the car. I love them in my studio too. I but them by the box.
Didn’t think to try mica powder, that’s a good idea!! I have some gold stuff here, I’ll give it a whirl. All about experimenting & playing, having fun! I like the thickness of the cornstarch/baby powder, how it gives degrees of sprinkle, small bits & big clumps 😂. Really glad you enjoyed the video, Shirley, & thanks for the mica idea, can’t wait to try it 😊
@@amandadevuonoart I’ve made paper too. Onion skins, run through a coffee grinder, adds sparkle to the finished sheet. Might be fun to try. Thanks for sparking my creativity!!
It’s pretty delicious isn’t it, Lee? It’s called Iridescent Orange Yellow (Pebeo studio acrylics high viscosity). I got it at Michaels & have blue and green as well, so shimmery!
I am very new to gel plates and wondering if you can tell me the name of the paper towel you use to clean yours and what is the best way to protect my gel plate when not in use?
Are you having fun with it, Julz? I find using the plate is a great way to let go of control. The blue towels are Scott Shop Towels. They’re great because they’re durable & can be reused a couple times. Good for cleaning up grease, dirt, spills. Can usually find this type of towel at hardware stores or mechanic stores. Men love to have them in the car & the garage 😂
Baby wipes work for me! Or, if you have really stuck on stuff that refuses to leave, try packing tape. Stick it over the dried gunk, press it down a bit, then pull it off!

You have the most beautiful hand movements when you pull your prints.
I do? Ooo, like a ballet 😂. Thanks, Linda, what a lovely thing to notice xo
Love this idea!! Always looking for new ways to create texture and background effects!! Thanks so much for sharing your ideas and discoveries!
Have (messy) fun with it Chris! Just had an idea to try with the gel plate but woke up with what feels like a cold (grr) so will film it another day!
Loved the technique! It gives me courage to try more things on my gel plate! Thanks for sharing.
That’s amazing, Lenella!!! Gel plate adventures are calling you 😊

You’re hysterical! I snorted my coffee this morning.
Aw 😂 glad I made you laugh but coffee snort burns like a sonofabitch!
@@amandadevuonoart so true! -thank you for your lively and still informative content! You rock!
the orange & blue looks like the patina that copper gets when aged
Oh I love that patina look, so textural & looks like history
Just found you on my UA-cam feed. So glad I did. You are so funny. And I love your creativity. Looking forward to bringe watch your vids.
Aw, thank you, sweetness ☺️. Looking forward to making more videos for you to binge 😜
omg you are so kooky good and entertaining.... deff watching more of you...also textures are awesome :)
Hahaha, thanks so much! Always happy to know my kookiness makes people smile (cos it often embarrasses my fam 😂)
Blues and greens, but blues and oranges or browns together are super combos
Yah, a nice reddish brown with blue is gorg!
You sound like me in my studio when I’m alone. 😂 I enjoy you.
🤣 love it! Thanks so much, Lisa
wonderful!!! THank you so much for sharing!
You’re very welcome, Jen. It’s such a messy fun process (I don’t like how the cornstarch squeaks between my fingers though *shudder*)
I hate the feel and sound of corn starch too so going to try this with talc and just shake from the bottle lol
@@tanyaknight1201 that’s what I need, a shaker! Dollar store here I come!!
Loved these textures Amanda. I especially loved the effect you vot from the petals. Amaziiingggg!!!❤❤❤❤
Aren’t they fab? Who knew cornstarch could create magic ⭐️ (1 negative - the dusty paw print trails my cats leave behind 😂)
You’re a character!❤

Love the orange shimmer colour and the red violet. Love your way
Oh my gosh, I’m addicted to that red violet…delish!
you crack me up! great vid!
😊 thanks!
Goooooorgeous😍
Thanks so much! Are you gonna give it a go?
Seems to work better if you turn the paper the other way up for the second print
Always good to look at things from different angles/perspectives. You never know what’ll show up! 😊
Love the technique, your personality and presentation. And PLEASE - go off topic. We don’t mind ❤😀🌺

How cool!
Such fun textural deliciousness!!
Nifty, smart presentation.
Thanks so much, Chris, so happy you enjoyed it 😊
I like it and going to try it. Paint Akvarell use a lot of salt and get a look alike effect.
Have fun!! Our studios are like little kitchens too (I’ve got a couple different varieties of salt in mine) 🤣

Orange and turquoise are favs. Never black; instead Paynes Grey or Indigo.
Mmm, I love Paynes Grey, total fave!! It’s so moody
