      Just like AO 2018 was the easiest Slam for Federer outside clay. Novak was injured. Rafa was injured. Federer defeated a Grand Slam winner (Cilic) at the AO 2018, just like Nadal defeated a Grand Slam winner (Del Potro) at the US Open 2017.

    • @jameswalker6864

      Logan Legend Also, Federer is always reportedly injured at the US Open (2017, 2018, 2019) so that doesn't make Nadal's victory less impressive. It's not like Federer is any force at the US Open nowadays, as he has not won the title since 2008, nor has he been close to win the title since 2009.

    I think that hard courts, in tournaments around the world, often produce the best rallies and points, because the ball travels quite fast, though not as fast as on grass courts, so the points are not as short as on grass, where volley and serve players hold fort. The ball also bounces relatively high, but not as high as on clay, allowing for a variety of shots, including topspin and slice. We see a lot of incredible ground strokes, volleys, tweeners and shots in general at the US open. I hope to see another great one this year, following Wimbledon which starts in 2 days. 🎾💥

    • @Sanjinator1
      @Sanjinator1 5 років тому +9

      @@JohnTaylor-vg6cy Possibly, can't rule it out entirely and although I respect your view, I would have to iterate that good Griggy had more time to set up/get into position so some mental predetermination could take place (lob was on too) whereas Rafa's was purely spontaneous and there was only one option available to win the point. It had to be pin point precise in the corner and his best shot in his artillery; the banana! He also had no idea if his old legs could even get there in the first place and then to execute that much spin on that scorcher of a shot on the dead run, on a completely dying ball that was oh so close to a double bounce was absolutely ballistic to witness! Demonstrable control on that level? Sweet Lord it's rare, especially pronounced when delivered by the respective player's naturally non-dominant hand :)
      With all that said...the one against Verdasco's wicked slice @ AO '09!!!! where the net WAS an obstacle, that, for sure, we're never going to see again.

    One of the best matches in tennis history : Nadal VS Medvedev ( US Open 2019 )

    • @pauljohnson6019
      @pauljohnson6019 4 роки тому

      One of the worst, from Medvedev's perspective, this was his best chance, to win a GS, but he choked, even when he fought his ass off, to take it to 5 sets, what's worse, this choke led to a greater choke, a few months later, poor guy must be having nightmares for months- esp at wtf 5-1 up, 40-30, worst choke ever- in tennis history, beats 40-15 Wimbledon Federer!

      @@pauljohnson6019 dude , nothing beats all the choke jobs Fed had against Djoker at US open and Wimbledon.
      Medvedev never had a match point against Nadal. You delusional.
