      My dad says being part of the family means to help, the parents can’t do everything thats why kids should help, they’re not slaves, the dad isn’t whipping them or putting them in servant cottages. And all you’re seeing is them teaching these teens how to act, its not a show about how much love that dad gives to his kids, thats why you’re not seeing him give any love.

  • @zzz938
    @zzz938 6 років тому +76

    okay, let's start. there is a time in the lives of teenagers that they might not get along with their parents, they might fight and that is okay. this is normal. teenagers try to find themselves again because they are not kids anymore. they used to depend on their parents to do things for them, but now they have to be independable and that is really hard. so on one hand, it is okay to show them how to do things because they need a good role model to teach them things, either their parents or in this case the strict parents. But sometimes it is also okay when you let the teenagers relax and be with themselves even for a few moments.
    what i did not like is that instead of the parents to work and provide food and whatever in the house, they made the children work with them at 4 in the morning. if someone woke up at 4 how can this person concentrate well at school and do well?? + the mother did not have to cook sooo many times. my mom cooks the night before dinner and we eat something quick for breakfast. So, in the end most of the things were just too much for me to believe. I would like to say that this is my opinion, i study psychology and i know things about teenagers and development. unicorn love!!

    ,, i wouldnt have a good attitude either if i was forced to clean public toilets in an office at 4am in the morning, then being forced to go outside in the cold at 6am as punishment for swearing instead of eating breakfast. i think this dad needs to realise raising your kids like this isnt healthy. forcing them to wake up at 4am to help you do YOUR job (especially on a school day) isnt healthy. forcing them to saw wood as punishment instead of having breakfast isnt healthy. what this will teach the kids is that its okay to get other people to do their labour, and that its okay to give them unnecessary punishment for something so small as a swear word. i really hope people dont take this episode as a parenting lesson.

      All the kids are pretty much adults. Does she really still need to be a stay at home mother. Surely if her kids are so hardworking and capable, they could make their own breakfast, lunch, do their own washing. There are 7 adults in the house, cooking one meal each and one or two household chores za week would be more practical than working at four in the morning

    • @gabyp8788
      @gabyp8788 6 років тому +9

      Karly Kimura Where did you see 7 adults in that house? There's the mom and dad and five kids between de ages of 16 and 9, the other kids the adult ones are clearly not living at home. And there's no way that house is going to run with the kids doing 1 or 2 chores a week, specially considering they live in the freaking desert, the amount of dust alone it's scary.
      And honestly waking your kids at 4 am it's not so weird, it's not about when you wake up, it's how many hours did you sleep, they just have to go to bed early. I have a lot of family members who wake their own kids, way younger than that, at that hour just to get them ready for school in time before they go to work themselves, and they have a lot less kids.

    • @karly2190
      @karly2190 6 років тому +8

      @@gabyp8788 Im sure a 9yr old can make there own breakfast, lunch, do their own washing. Everyone in that house is old enough to look after themselves, my point is a good majority of the tasks she fills her day with, the kids could do themselves.

I also cant get behind the host parents talk with the natural parents and it's to do with the editing of the show , condescending af. We've had your kids for 7 days and all of a sudden we know better. Sorry I think the host family operates internally that way but one week isn't enough to make a long term difference.

    Ariel may have been ‘rude’ when she said it but she was right. Why should the kids have to wake up at 4am to work and support the family when the Mom doesn’t bring in any money. It is not right for kids to work without pay under the assumption that the family will suffer if they don’t when only one parent is willing to join the workforce.

      I really disagree because I think kids should go to work with their parents and participate in what their parents do. Doing that kids learn the value of a 💵,
      especially,the entitled ones. I think having children go through that experience teenagers in particular ; They will gain work ethic for the rest of their lives. Kids may resent you when they are young because they may not understand what you are trying to teach them. When they get into the real world , as they progress in their careers because of work ethic that you instilled in them they will be thankful

    • @mebutnotme.Khan78

      @@angrysportfan they've got all their adult life to work
      Kids should be kids while they're kids. Not little slaves.
      And it won't necessarily give them work ethic.
      They could still grow up to be lazy good for nothing's due to being made to work so hard as children.
      As soon as they're adults & can make their own decisions they could easily think nah fuck that 🤷‍♀️

    If the dad can't support his family, then he needs a better job and/or mom needs to get a job too. Not the kids responsibility at such a young age. And that mother, OMG, cooking and cleaning and caring for your family is what comes with having a family. It's not 'work'! There are moms out there doing everything by themselves and clearly doing a better job than these parents

    • @marilynmazzotta6403

      Why should the Mom do everything, and then have kids who don't know how to cook, clean, and take on responsibility. I bet those kids in this video all get great grades at school, and all will be successful adults. We had our kids, learn how to cook, and clean by the age of 11. They are all now extremely successful, and they did that through hard work.

Reminds me of the satire of EM Forster's A Room With A View where they had to say the letter S because it was rude to say stomach. That book was written over 100 years ago and even then it included people saying the letter S instead of stomach to make a point of how stupid it was to do that and to emphasise that that was an outdated and old-fashioned thing to do.

    The host family were the ones who decided to have so many children, so if you don't want so much housework to do don't have so many children if any. I've never agreed with children being made to do housework either, because last time I checked they were children not parents and are probably tired out after the programming I mean education system known as school and have to do homework on top of that. It's one thing if the children choose or offer to help, but quite another if the parents or whoever is supposed to be looking after them to expect the children to do that stuff automatically.

He went back to Tafe last year and also started an apprenticeship in butcher and works in a butcher shop. He started at 13. But stopped being a rebel at 16yrs.
