Choosing a Shoe and Size

After trimming the front foot on this horse, Bobby Menker decides what Kerckhaert shoe and size he thinks will work best for this horse. Bobby has been using quite a few of the Steel Comfort Sport front shoes and likes the protection and support they give and given the pasture area this horse is in, they should be more secure than the unclipped shoes that were on previously. The Sport is the newest version of the Steel Comfort and has clips placed between the 2nd and 3rd nail hole instead of 1st and 2nd. They also have a slightly wider section in the toe and the heels have been marked for either drive-in or screw-in traction devices.
