thank you for the informative video. my K6 1000 just started fluctuating gear information today. I actually use the indicator, as I've never ridden a bike without one. bad habit, I know, but that fluctuation is so very irritating. cheers!
When I'm riding my gear position will jump around. Then will start working again after a couple of seconds. It just starting doing this the other day. And sometimes my neutral light won't work unless o put the kickstand down. Any thoughts? Or could the sensor be my problem? Any advice would help thank you.
Justin Montroy the sensor could well be the culprit, the bike uses it to figure what gear your in and when it acts up you can get all sorts of odd data on the dash. a good clean may sort it, if not a replacement should do the trick!
It´s so easy to fix GPS. Take it out and submerge it under alcoohol for a half an hour, always moving it as if it was working (clockwise and counter clockwise) . Let it dry and repeat the procedure for some minutes more. I assure you, I had the same problems and I solve them at coast 0.

hey can you please tell me what size allen wrench socket you use to take out the gps sensor and is your bike a 2006 gsxr 1000 i have a 2005 gsxr 1000 but they should be the same @Daniel Wellby
I am going from memory its a 4mm, could be 5mm, cannot remember off the top of my head, our bikes are identical, K5/6 had minor changes, fairing design and not much else, you can follow the vid, your bike will be the same! have fun
Hello! Why did you changed that GP switch? I have an gsx-r 750 k8 and it has some oil leakege. Initially, I couldn't find where this leakege comes from; but the clues made me think that the source is from that GP switch. Did you had some problems like this? The GP switch is the same like yours. Thank you!
Gabi, when the switch starts to go it can cause some issues with gear change and other odd gremlins, I didnt have a leak, if all you have is a leak I would just swap out the o ring before you sped money on anything else. cheers
I changed the exterior O ring from the gp switch. It's ok now; I made a few test to see if the leakege stopped. And it's stopped! Hope there will not be problems from now on. Thanks a lot for your information.
hi mate, i have a couple questions about how your sensor works... do you have an email or something i can contact? in short im making a paddle shift system for racing car, but to create closed feedback loop, i need a device to sense the gears, i wanna try use a potentiometer but we're having trouble trying to figure out where to fit it on the engine. i want the sensor to take an analogue input and send it to my micro circuit to feed back into my shifter to tell it to shut off once the gear has definitely changed. for neutral im just going to use the neutral sensor.
+Akomarongg I cannot help Im sorry to say, I simply replaced a Sensor manufactured by Suzuki, I know my way around wiring, but what your asking is about 20 levels above my pay grade/knowledge.
+Daniel Wellby ah damn, i assume the sensor in this video is just a potentiometer right? i was thinking of fitting it into the shift drum. otherwise it's a purely times system for me :( thanks anyway
can any one help me with my suzuki rf 600 r.. starts up fine but when i put it in gear itcuts out . could this be the neutral sensor , as i'm having lots of probs with the electrics , because it has been sitting under a pine tree for 5 years with minimal cover. was working ok but its not now , any clues to what it may be

Cleaned it several times. With 33,000 I guess it's time to buy one. Great video. Thanks bud
Awesome video! What's the size of that end you put inside the 10mil adapter?
Do you have to drain the oil before changing the GPS
No, you dont have to drain any oil.
Thanks for the video helped out a lot took mine out and cleaned it now it works great
yh the blue handle "key wrench" what size needed?
hi mate, great video, i have to do this at my k5. One Question: for which purpose is the grey cable about your gear shift lever at 0:33?
+GSXRTeo that was for the quick shifter I had fitted, I found it was the best route without getting anything in the way. Cheers

Hi Gabi! My switch is leaking oil. I'm going to clean it and re-install it to see if this stops the leak. 83 Honda 650 NightHawk.

I realize its 8 months later and you most likely have fixed it by now, but sounds like the kickstand sensor
Mine cuts off when I try to put it in gear first or second....any idea what might be wrong?
Cant help further than the vid, replacing worked perfectly for me, for the sake of a few quid and an hour swapping its worth a try.
Sounds like your side stand switch dude
hey did you ever figure it out
Great vídeo! Thanks a lot from Spain
hi buddy where and how much was your gps? cheers
Bought from Dealership, can't remember how much as years ago but around £60 I think!?
ok cheers mate
That sensor cant repair ?
how do you know if you have a faulty gear shifter sensor
The gears don't display properly
it looks almost the same with rgv250 vj22 gps.
