  • This step-by-step DiY tutorial will show you how to make a perfect bag for when you don't want to haul around a clunky purse. It's wee, it's got a nice long strap... plus lots of pockets to fit your crap. (Hey, that rhymed!)
    As usual, you can adapt this bag to fit your needs - make it bigger smaller, longer or shorter strap, more pockets, less pockets.... You know what I say: get wacky.

  • @dianer8881

    Glad to see that interfacing is not really needed.
    Fusing each piece to light, medium or heavy interfacing along with wadding, batting, fleece or stabilizer seems confusing and costly. I still haven’t figured out which ones are appropriate for each project.
    Some tutorials say the padding protects what you’ve placed inside and other tutorials say padding is needed to make the bag stand up.
    Typically, glasses and electronics already have their own padded case.
    I wouldn’t want my bag to stand up on a dirty floor. I usually keep my purse on my shoulder, on the back of a chair or place it in my lap.
    And I’m always thinking of pick pockets. I prefer to have all pockets on the inside. If I kept my wallet, keys or phone in an outside pocket, they could easily be taken when in a crowd.
    Thanks for presenting zippered pockets that don’t require an extra piece of lining.
    Love your purse videos! Please do more! I’m looking for reversible shoulder bags that don't require interfacing. I prefer a button closure without a flap. Various pockets inside. Simple, yet functional.
    You really have the knack of good design!

Yes I make my own fabric bags to sell as my kind of job (Entrepreneur)
    which I does called my slow job because I mostly only do it by orders or sometimes make some just for fun incase an event pops-up that I'm interested in; I'll have n more bags on hand that time around. Anyways This bag look like the perfect bag to joking in around the garrison where we lived.

  • @crochethappy3786

    At 3:13 when you are putting in the zipper and cut that piece, how many inches is the top part? And how do the pieces match up if you are taking seam allowances for the zipper attachment? so is that piece 1 inch more? Seems not to correspond to your beginning measurements. thx

    • @smarmyclothes
      @smarmyclothes  7 років тому

      The pocket at 3:13 is "Pocket #1" in the beginning diagram with dimensions. The smaller "top piece" is 7" x 2.5". After sewing, it will be the same size as the "main bag"/lining pieces - 7" x 8".

    This is my second attempt at making this bag. The first attempt I didn't watch the video all the way through so I got the measurements mixed up but this attempt I'm confused. In the beginning you have the main linings as 7"x8" but the main bag pieces 7"x6.5". Is it supposed to be 7" or 6.5" long?

    • @smarmyclothes
      @smarmyclothes  4 роки тому

      Both the lining and outer bag pieces are 7"x8".
      The 7"x6.5" piece is part of a pocket.
      Hope that helps!

    • @alexishollis1580
      @alexishollis1580 4 роки тому

      @@smarmyclothes in your video everythiing is even. i had to trim everything to size. i get lost because why is the lining 8' long if the bag is only 6.5' long? i feel like I am doing something wrong. i increased the width to 8.5' because i'm using a 9' zipper but i keppt your other measurements the same and the bag isn't coming out how i had hoped. i did your other bag perfectly but this one is giving me a run for my money.

    • @alexishollis1580

    • @smarmyclothes
      @smarmyclothes  4 роки тому

      @@alexishollis1580 I think you're getting confused between the outer/main bag and the outer pocket, which is sewn over top of one of the main bag pieces.
      00:46 shows the measurements for the lining pieces and the outer pieces. All four pieces are 7" x 8". Note that the outer bag is shown as 1 piece leopard and 1 piece blue polka dot.
      00:53 shows the various pockets. Pocket #1 has two pieces. The bottom piece measures 6.5". The top measures 2.5". Once the zipper is inserted, you should end up with a piece that is roughly 7" x 8".
      2:48 shows the actual outer bag piece on the left (leopard) and the pieces for Pocket #1 on the right (floral).

    • @alexishollis1580
      @alexishollis1580 4 роки тому

      This is hilarious. So I did it right the first time but I thought I messed everything up so I had like two break downs and said screw it. So when the pockets are added on it's supposed to measure 8" long?
