BTS was disrespected by the industry because the industry was afraid of them. A small company invested everything in them and the big companies were afraid. They changed clothes in bathrooms. welcome to the BTS rabbit hole, each song is different, each clip tells a story with a different artistic point of view, BTS' creations are like a box of chocolate where each candy reserves a new surprise flavor. You will be surprised every time. You can start by adding titles like : Idol, Dope, black swan, blood sweat tears, fire... and that's just a very small start.
MIC DROP was addressing haters but ON was addressing the darkness and light that they battle within themselves. Fame is a two edged sword and they have to try to maintain a balance with the fame and with the darkness within themselves. They're fighting to not let the darkness win.
This song is about keeping your head up. Even when it feels tiring and painful, keep going strong because you have goals and dreams. All great things are worth sacrifices. Sometimes even living feels like too much. 'Regardless, bring the pain. I can handle it. Even if my knees hit the ground, as long as they are not buried, I am unbeaten and I will get back up and carry on.' That kind of sentiment. :)
One of my favorite songs of theirs lyric wise, is Black Swan. A song about music being their world, and what do you do when the thing you love no longer makes you feel something! Because of my parents, my whole life has revolved around music. In 2020 when my dad died suddenly, one of the strange ways I reacted to that was not wanting to hear music of any kind for months. I didn't even realize it til my sister pointed it out. I basically had to fight my way back to the thing I love most, and BTS sure as hell helped with that!!! I don't leave comments usually, sorry about this depressing way of recommending a song 😊
I scrolled through some of the comments, but didn't see if anyone mentioned this. BTS' albums are thematic and based around a concept. Map of the Soul: Persona and 7 are based on the writings of Carl S Jung. Many newbies react only superficially to BTS songs. And that's fine. But their lyrics have many layers. ON is about their struggle with the shadow. According to Jung, the shadow is the part of the psyche that holds someone's deepest fears. RM sings "I'm not unafraid..." He acknowledges his deep fear because he knows that the higher they rise, the harder they'll fall. If you react to Black Swan pay close attention to the lyrics. They explore their shadow side even more.
This is actually years after Mic drop. If you get into the rap line and listen to the cypher’s it’s basically all telling the haters. Also a couple of early solo songs by Agust D(Suga) also addresses the haters
They recorded with the UCLA marching band and a choir from LA. This was filmed in LA as well. There is a really neat behind the scenes for making of this video.
This song is talks about their journey, and it's about self reflection. They will keep going on and on, no matter what. They are basically saying this is how we live, and we will continue to keep going on and succeeding, because that is who we are. And they are also saying to their fans ARMY, we are here and will walk with you. They filmed this at Sepulveda Dam in Los Angeles County, and they had the UCLA Marching Band and Sienna Lalau with THE LAB, dance crew from LA. They are their back up dancers when they are in the USA. Sienna choreographed this routine. This is their title track for Map of the Soul: & album released 2/20/2020. Right before the pandemic hit. They performed this live at Central Station for the Jimmy Fallon Show in New York City. Epic performance.
Most of bts songs are not just songs ..they are medicine ..that what make them special.. And are talent as fu*k.. Thanks for the reaction .. You get 7 purple heart💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thanks for your reaction, I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to more by BTS, already subscribed.. You can watch 4 vocalists and 3 rappers separately also. House of cards, The truth untold, Zero o'clock by the vocalists, and Cyphers 1-4 by the rappers. Then you can go over the songs they perform together . I highly recommend you watch their live performances. They are insane and extremely talented.
Thanks for the reaction. A song for the haters is defitely DOPE MV. Would love to see you react to it. The choreo is off the chain but defitely message for the haters.
Glad you enjoyed this one! This is one of the songs that really helped change my opinion about what BTS and kpop could be. This one came out in early 2020 while MIC Drop came out in 2017. Like others, I'd also recommend Black Swan. It's from the same album and does continue with the theme of pulling yourself up by your boot straps. After that there's plenty of MVs to go back to in terms of age. They have such a deep catalog you could be busy for years reacting at this point! And that doesn't even touch on their solo work from the last year. Good luck! I hope you continue to enjoy the journey!
Mic drop I believe was before this song. This keep getting hate ever since the beginning.. But they have 4 singers and 3 rappers but they all can rap and sing
Like most BTS songs, there are layers to the lyrics. Sure, this could be an anthem to standing up against adversity. But “On” is part of the Map of the Soul series, which is based on the theories of Swiss Psychiatrist Karl Jung. This song is referring to the shadow portion of our soul, the darkest regions of our subconscious.
I saw your Mic Drop video and liked how you kept working out the lyrics. It’s like a literature class. Love it. RM is so poetic and their songs are meaningful. Keep up the good job!
Great Job!! Loved your reaction!! and Welcome to the Family, Army. This is only the beginning. This particular MV is one of my favorites along with Mic Drop. "On" mv was one of my first and I was hooked from then on. I consider myself a baby Army, 1 1/2 years. I loved the respect you should, your insight into the meaning, picking up on things, really I had not noticed with the dancers and music. I will be curious to see your reaction to Taylor's Guide to Bangtan 7. Your level of respect will grow. Army will watch , we /they love it. I have seen over 20 times. I cry every time. Suggestion do sooner than later. It goes by quick and gives you a history plus a look at each individually. They are over-comers. They took a lot and give back a lot. Music with meaning. Also, if not already mentioned ( even if you do on your own time) check out this on Jimmy Fallon at Grand Central station.
You managed to fall into the BTS rabbit hole, welcome! 😆 Please go on, you will not regret it: Fire; Black Swan; Blood, Sweat and Tears; Fake Love; I Need You; Idol; Butter; Airplane Pt.2 etc. etc. Apart from BTS videos, their solo stuff is great too. Check out Jungkook's Standing Next to You + I highly, highly recommend you Agust D's trilogy: Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala, in this order (in BTS he goes by Suga and for solo, he's name's Agust D). And one of my other favourites: Jimin's Set Me Free Pt.2 Thank you and subscribing for BTS content 😄
Since you're loving this, you would really love this performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (one of their biggest fans and supporters), or even the dance practice.💜
BTS lyrics being motivational/inspirational? I would say about 75% of their lyrics are like that. Maybe more. They are all about trying to give courage and comfort to their fans who are going through tough times, as well as talking about their own tough times in the lyrics of their songs so people know, “hey, BTS has gone through this too.” I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve heard over the years of people who were contemplating giving up, even taking their own lives when the lyrics of a BTS song gave them the strength that they needed to keep going. Because even though most of the lyrics are in Korean, if you’ve read the subtitles for that song before, or watched a lyric video for it, if you hear that song again you know what it’s talking about even if you can’t understand specific words.
You are correct. I’d like to add that the reason they are so relatable & effective at motivation it’s because they actually HAVE “gone through it”. That we know of so far, at least two have dealt with su*c*dal thoughts or attempts. Several experienced poverty. Some have experienced depression/anxiety and/or other mental health issues. Most have dealt with insecurities regarding looks, weight, body type, or abilities at some point(s) in their lives/careers due to relentless criticism (both from external forces or from within themselves). Yet they haven’t given up on life or ever tried to make it look they’re “perfect” or have “dream lives”. They faced the hardships head on, lifted each other up & just kept doing what they love. Yes they have money, success and fame, but those things come with their own troubles/dark sides (“shadow”, “dark wind” “beautiful prison”) and don’t equate to or guarantee happiness. But as long as it keeps them fulfilled, they’ll tackle the “pain” that comes with it. You can FEEL all of these genuine emotions in their songs/performances and if you have experienced any of them you can’t help finding “community” with them.
ON is more about letting ARMY know, about their bond as a team & where BTS is going with their career path. Honestly; That's one of the most LIT things about BTS. They keep us informed by leaving us clues in their videos. You see, they used to make clue videos for ARMY to figure out before a new album would dropped. A few years ago, I was so wrong about so many clues. I was absolutely sure their album was going to be called Shadow. I would have bet money but I was so wrong. The other thing you should know is: they are so clever in their marketing. They did 4 video's for ARMY. This one; ON, Kinetic Manifesto, ON music video, ON, Dialogue. This a video in the production video highlighting how the song is made and last, they shot a behind the scenes video at the video shoot of ON Kinetic Manifesto.
I had the same impression with Mic Drop. I thought, based on the lyrics, that it was the last "haters" song, and they probably meant it to be or they meant it to be at some point when writing it. BTS is all about growth and becoming a better person and that's hard to do when you focus too much on detractors. I think the songs after Mic Drop, if they addressed haters, it was done differently. For example, I'm not sure when Idol was written, but the video for it came after Mic Drop and it also addressed haters, but it was less "chest thumping" and more "You don't like us doing this? Well, this is us doing it again but more!" 😂 ON from what I can find is more like "fear/pain is going to happen, try to not let it stop you". If haters are addressed, it's probably as being one of the causes of some of the pain/fear. Like you said, more of a motivational intent. Enjoying your reactions! 🫰💜😊 Welcome to the rabbit hole! 😁
Most definitely. I spot on either this one and thank u so much. I can only imagine where this rabbit hole is going to lead me. It’s so much great music!

Mic Drop was released in 2018. ON: Kinetic Manifesto Film and MV were released in 2020. You will find there are songs addressing their haters throughout their discography. They tend not to address the haters as much over the last few years. Unfortunately The hate, racism in xenophobia still continues to this day in spite of their success.

BTS got tons of hate and disrespect, they could continue to talk about it. After I read the book, I discovered a lot that was going on that the Fandom never knew. Because they came from a small label, they were not respected. If they got to perform, the performance wasn't aired like the other artist. They werent given a dressing room and made to get dress and practice in the halls and next to the bathroom. Even when they started to get more fans and people buying their albums, other fandoms would accuse it as invalid votes. Imagine people actually calling the "Grammys*" to criticize their COUNTING of the votes. FYI - there is actual evidence and transcripts of these convos. BTS debuted in 2013 but didn't get any real recognition until late 2016. The hate and death threats increased after this. *This is a WHOLE other issue with Billboard and the Grammys using BTS for views, changing the criteria for awards when it doesn't apply to American artist and when they WIN, they change the rules again. We are waiting on them to say that you must have a residence in the US... well PDBang got that covered as well.
@RetroQuinReacts I hope you know, you're in for a treat! There's no other group like them, they are and remain unique 👌 😌 thanks for checking them out. New sub💜

Ur very welcome and thank u for supporting. I’ll be checking out those suggestions
"They all showed up!" ❤❤
Absolutely!
I gotcha and I appreciate u for clarifying the dates for me as well. Seems like no matter how great u are, the hate will always be there
@@RetroQuinReacts xceleste racism Hardships video and her Nobodies to Legends are important videos

The dance crew is made up of World of Dance Season 2 champions The Lab, and the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. They are performing near the Sepulveda Dam. This MV won for best choreography at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Thank u so much and appreciate u for sharing this information ❤️❤️
Loved your reaction!
Thank u so much ❤️
BTS got tons of hate and disrespect, they could continue to talk about it.
Thank u so much for sharing this
