Today is the 49th anniversary of the loss of our brother. An historic marker was just placed by Jim’s apartment in Lindell, PA, last weekend. We remember them with love.
Holy Crap! Didn't know Maury actually had albums out...just thought he was an excellent hired hand by Croce. Wow!! ;-) P.S. You look very young to be a grandmother! :-)
+Jacques Jenseen Maury only got the chance to do the one solo album. I think he would have been just as amazing as Croce, had he lived. (Thank you for saying that, by the way, made me smile - I guess I am pretty young to be a grandmother! ;))
To be perfectly honest, Maury had three other albums as well. They were entitled: You Don't Mess Around With Jim; Life and Times; and I Got A Name. The contribution of Muehleisen in Jim's Music after Facets or Jim and Ingrid was as unmistakeable as McCartney's was to Lennon. You simply would never have had songs like Time In A Bottle, Operator and especially New York's Not My Home (compare Love Is Just A Passing Thing) if not for Maury teaching him descending baseline progressions which are present throughout his own music. Maury was a true gem.
These lyrics knock me out every time I listen to them. Croce had the fame, but the loss of Muehleisen was every bit as great.
