In hindsight the fact that the Romans lasted as long as they did is impressive
The fall of the Roman Empire is the worst tragedy that happened to Humanity.
*best
The fortifications of Konstantinopel were one of the best investments in history.

What an epic siege ! Can't wait to see it! 🔥
Amazing as always! thanks HEB
Thank you very much, KHK!
It's always amazing to see you around!
Best Map Among UA-cam History Channels in my opinion Excellent job you are not in the place you deserve
You know im here. Enjoying as always.
I simp for this channel and I ain’t ashamed of that.
Great video mate
Once again, great informative video which also sheds light on the many theatres of war in which Heraclius fought to eventually win the war. I do personally miss the 3D animations, but I hope the less work you have to put in now will make it more sustainable on the long term.
Perhaps you could have used some 3D animations for depicting the siege in this video? I really don't know how much work it is, so forgive any rudeness on my part. I just really liked the animations.
On a positive note, narration, information and map animations are spot on again! Loved the video
Edit: spelling error
Thank you very much for your valuable feedback!
I'll try to give you the complete picture while being brief. I also love 3D animations, but they are incredibly time-consuming and focus-intensive. So, due to time shortage and some health-related issues I've faced this month, I decided to use a more "traditional" approach, that is, 2D animations.
On top of that, if I wanted to include 3D animations or even simple 3D models, that would have meant that I'd make whole models for the appropriate period from scratch since I don't have already made models for Byzantium or anything close to depicting Avars or Nomads in general.
So, I'd need to make both 2D and 3D assets, even if I included simple 3D cut-scenes because my 3D shots are entirely made by me as I don't use scenes from video games like total war.
That's why I decided to make a fully 2D video for this month.
@@hocestbellumchannel thanks the explanation, that does clarify everything. Hope the health issues resolve!
Already looking forward to your next video, really liked this one as well!
Thank you so much for uploading this video. It is helping me get through the pandemic!
Thanks for this great video
The evil Scythians, Alans, Tocharians, and Sogdians: Brother, can we join you?
This video was awesome!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you for watching!
Loved it.... Make more!!
Great work as usual! An intriguing war for sure, where the real winner is the faction that waited on the sidelines for the opportunity to pounce on a weakened empire and take it over.
Fascinating video!
Your narration gets better each video. Really impressive!
Thank you very much, Thraim!
Your video made my day. Thanks
Thank you for watching!
New subscription from me, great video the graphics and the extra information of what is going on in the region is very informative 👍
Thank you very much and welcome!
Nice video mate! Although I, kinda, liked your 3d versions of battles, this 2d and map focus I think will be more appealing to a great number of people's. So your Chanel will grow faster and you could maybe even try to go again for the 3d version, at least for the battles.
Amazing works! Love that you are using this voice again. So much better
Thank you very much!
Good to be see you again
A topic rarely covered by YT channels.
I comment rarely but ......
well I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your excellent productions. I owe all my knowledge of this subject to you and other UA-cam channels. For a student like me who cannot afford to buy many books it is really a blessing to see ( and learn) unbiased true history. Please don't stop. Will become a patron whenever I can.
Thank you.
God bless you.
You are very welcome
Weird how you have such high quality content and only 21k subscribers.
I'm struggling to figure this out myself...
But thank you very much for your kind remarks.
Great work HEB!
Sometimes when I feel ike im having a bad/stressful day, I just think of the life of heraclius... man talk about stresssed from birth to death!
Truth be told!
He was so accustomed to pressure that he probably didn't even know what "normality" was. haha
@@hocestbellumchannel 😂 so true! Man lived in the pressure cooker
well done like to see more like this
Perfect ❣️ !
Dude dont quit its been 10 months since you posted something yo are as good as all the other great history channels out there
A change but a welcome one
Oooo this is gonna be good!
This was unexpected :) what a good time to finish my midnight dinner
Hey, my friend!
While you are preparing your midnight dinner, I'm trying to cope with the summer sun!
@@hocestbellumchannel haha I hope you're doing well over there!
Great video as always! - but im just wondering, what happened to 3D model shots? That should've been used it as a B-Roll especially when you explain the origins of the Avars.
@@MalayArcher Yeah, excellent question.
Because of my schedule this month and some unexpected things that delayed the whole process, I decided to streamline the production a bit for this particular video.
On top of that, even if I've used just 3D model shots, that would have meant that I'd still need to make the models from scratch, which isn't an easy nor a quick process. So, since I didn't have anything already made for this period of history, I used a complete 2D coverage.
@@hocestbellumchannel Understandable! I can tell from your 3D style takes a lot of time to produce let alone a huge to render the whole thing! Looking forward with Octavian Civil War on History Marche :)
banger episode
Hoc Est Bellum another great video. When you cover some medieval battles you will have more views.
Very cool and nice map graphics stuff lol
*A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. :)*
Which software do you use for the maps? Looks great
Well done, but why I see 2 names one on top of other: Sassanid & Rashidun Empire?
And if its not a secret, were are you from?
but the rest is fine keep up the good work :)
I'm proud to be an avar❤
I like
Well done documentary, but for the love of Jupiter, you should narrate faster. Sounded like you were struggling not to fall asleep yourself. I had to put the video speed up to 1.75 - 2 in order to not doze off and lose concentration on what's going on lol.
Forgotten to speed up the narration a bit.
In most cases, I narrate slow in an attempt to pronounce the words clearly because there are a few who struggle to understand my accent for some reason.
I also found that speeding up the video at 1.1 sounds much better. 2 to 1.75 sound too cartoonishly fast for my taste, to be honest! haha
>Coordinating an attack with the Turks
Top ten anime moments
👍👍
Avars are with same ancestry as Mongols.
No
Silly Avars next time bring a boat or two...
these events actually were revealed in Quran and according to our tradition makkan Quraish mocked the prophet for saying that the roman would defeat the Persians
and also btw every Muslim believes it
That's pretty interesting.
I wasn't aware of this detail.
the Roman's made it so close to modernity.
what a shame we have lost our true historical bed rock in the west.
İs it so hard to admit. Avars are turks??
Yes they were. So much so that even Eastern Romans began referring to Pannonia (present day Hungary) as “Tourkia”. Even after Magyars came and settled in the area, king Geza, the first Magyar king, was referred to as King of Tourkia. One can easily type “king of Tourkia” on google and see Byzantine images. It is almost a reflex of present day europeans to erase Turks out of European history.

Serdica is the modern day capital of Bulgaria...
so slavs have a navy :D
The Avar individuals showed their highest genetic affinity with present-day Mongolic and Tungusic peoples, as well as Nivkhs. A genetic study published in scientific journal Current Biology in May 2022 examined 143 Avar samples from various periods, including elite and commoners.
How did they live with the Kushans, Sogdians, Tocharians, and the peoples of Central Asia, and you say they were from Mongolia? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😊
