The corkscrew over the midway remains one of the most iconic parts of Cedar Point. Wouldn't be sad to see it go as an old, unpopular ride, but retaining that visual icon especially as it relates to guest traffic is essential too.
I was just talking about this with my bf! I hope they close corkscrew and just leave the iconic "corkscrew" section as a memorial piece somewhere in the midway!
Can we PLEASE make this a thing in real life??? Not just the coaster itself but the whole plaza, the theming, everything about that just hits all the right spots!
Corkscrew brings the pain. it's at the end of it's service life. the new coaster concept sure is pretty, I love the colors but I think something more akin to Hangtime would be more appropriate for Corkscrew's replacement
Keep in mind: this roller coaster as well as Maverick, have an entire lore story behind them created by CP which you can read around Frontiertown and the story isn’t finished yet.
I like the idea of a RMC T-Rex if a park will ever go forward to install one. If not, a MACK looping hypercoaster would be nice. That way both of Ohio's parks can get a different kind of MACK rollercoaster as I would like Kings Island to get an Xtreme Spinning Coaster or a multi-launch coaster (with the back of each trains having a spinning car like Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach) sometime this decade.
@Theme Park Predictions & More! I think I have feeling that Six Flags Great Adventure might get RMC T-Rex over B&M Giga than Cedar Point because the park is turning 50 years old next year. And I think the coaster will be 400ft or 500ft tall than El Toro and Kingda Ka. And it can put near by Medusa and themed to Viper or something. Or it might located at near by Cyborg and the coaster will go through a new main entrance to the park like Cedar Point’s new entrance. That will make change Great Adventure’s future forever. You’ll should do Great Adventure 2024 RMC T-Rex predictions video soon please?
I love this idea. I have a feeling we will find out this season towards the end, that 2023 will be the last season of corkscrew, or 2024. I feel like this summer when they announce the full plans for dragster, it will include the death date of corkscrew. Either way I am going to force a few rides on it this season just incase they do a hush hush " Oh yeah last season was the last season for the ride" and start tearing it down.
Some fantastic ideas as always! Love the channel and the content. Thank you. I think corkscrew’s days are numbered for sure. I think cedar point with its next coaster will try and break some record. Specifically I think height. Years ago they teased a T-Rex. And I think if they were to do a T-Rex they should try and break the 500ft barrier. I have so many ideas for the park too. For one the Mine Ride needs to go too. I think they can do a ride like Time Traveler there or some kind of Gerstlauer infinity coaster. Another forgotten part of the park is frontier town. Past millennium there is nothing until you get to Thunder Canyon. So maybe they do a T-Rex in that area of the park. Keep the content coming. I love looking forward to your videos.
This new RMC coaster is better than anything I could ever imagine. Unless Cedar Point somehow brings a version of Velocicoaster to the Roller Coast, this is it. This is the one. Also, I really hope they complete the boardwalk area with the one thing the park truly lacks - a dark ride like they have on the East Coast with the Doo Woop singers smoking cigs under the boardwalk.
@@TommonSensePro I dunno, why do some parks have more than one wooden coaster. Why do people want multiple RMCs. Why does McDonalds have a B8g Mac, but also a quarter pounder and then a McDouble. 🤡🤡🤡
@@ScottyMania313 you are describing different kinds of burgers. The types of coasters you are mentioning originally are the same type. A blitz. Parks may have more wooden coasters because they may be smaller in nature for the little ones and bigger for the bigger people.
I LOVE the idea, but this is Disneyesque stuff that I don't think Cedar fair could ever really do. But... I challenge them to it because I would love to see Cedar Point get to this level of theming. It is, after all, the Disney of the North.
I think it looks pretty insane. Wow! I've heard whispers from Wonderland about a 2025 new coaster. Don't know what it would be. Maybe Mack Spinner, another B&M, a wing maybe or a launch, nobody knows. I'm excited, Cedar Point attendees are gonna have one heck of a crazy coaster.
Nice...I agree! Get rid of Corkscrew for something exciting and updated Power Tower. Still don't know why CP has updating Power Tower with the new modifications S&S has available now!
Eventhough my home park is Great Adventure I would LOVE to see Cedar Point introduce the world's first T-Rex. I was thinking King's Island should be the first but after seeing that layout, I am hoping Cedar Point seizes that accolade because honestly they deserve it.
Hope you never quit the speculation vids, man! Not many other channels do this and it helps with the downtime in the offseason. This new layout looks sick and I love the idea of a space theme. I wonder if this area might even trickle past Coasters Diner, as they could incorporate a 1950s/Alien conquest theme kind of like they're already doing for Halloweekends. Perhaps there's even more theming that makes it's way past the current stage into Millenniums queue, since that's already future themed. I always thought a great place for a new coaster would be where the stage currently sits; the track could make it's way over Perimeter Rd and into the newly cleared land where the old dorms were. Either way I think there's lots of changes coming over there and it's exciting stuff!
I love Corkscrew! It's the only looping coaster I feel comfortable riding that has a side down car. I hope that if they replace Corkscrew, it'll be a similar thrill level as Corkscrew.
I think the main reason Corkscrew has remained this long is just because the actual corkscrew element looks good on the midway, especially at night. It is a visual icon, much like the big wheel. Nobody rides them, but they look nice. It definitely is on prime real estate.
I just don’t see Cedar Point making that big of an investment on a prototype. I think it’s a big risk given how rough Wonder Woman Golden Lasso has gotten. Is it possible that single rail coasters wind up having short life spans and what if the T-Rex track winds up being even rougher than a Raptor track as it ages….or maybe Wonder Woman is an anomaly due to the extreme heat in San Antonio. 🤷♂️

Interesting video. Few thoughts 1) Cedar Point does not tend to get the first of a model, at least in a long while. Steel Vengeance was not the first RMC, but likely the best. No doubt, space is an issue for Cedar Point, making me think that Kings Island has a brighter future. Two, no RMC installs since 2018, will RMC and Cedar Point work together? I also don't think that the RMC T-Rex is the best fit for Cedar Point. Their best bet would be to get a Mack Extreme spinner XL Version or a 4th dimension coaster like X2, a 300 feet version. Also wonder if Worlds of Fun getting a new coaster shows a new direction to give the mid-tier parks like Valley Fair a new attraction. With the money spend on dragster remodeling, they may want to rest for a while and help other parks.
They just built a family spinner they aren’t doing that. Although would be a good fit. A trex would be unlike anything most people have ever seen and great for publicity. Think about how far the closest single rail is
I’m pretty sure everyone has always wished the dragster had a longer runtime than just 1 hill. I really hope that’s what they do! I agree that the corkscrews days are numbered. It can’t stay there forever and I think it’s going sooner than later. Even on a busy day you can usually ride the corkscrew over and over with almost no wait time
I herd rumors of Dragster being re-themed to Ferrari because of the trailer If it’s true, I would like to see an all new Ferrari land similar to the area over at Port Aventura and maybe the Raptor/t-rex could be themed to that! I think it would be pretty neat and who knows then maybe everything could all open in 2024!
If I were a betting man, I would place my bets on the Corkscrew going bye bye, and the new Dragster expanding to its place and still holding the iconic tophat.
I would be super happy with this, because it looks like Gemini would stay. The latest speculation I heard was that Gemini might be the one on the chopping block, and I would hate to see it go
Gemini was SBNO all of Halloweekends 2022. Even during the summer days I'd go with my ex Marissa, we'd notice that Gemini would be down and/or doing test runs about half of the time... summer 2022. Not good for its long term outlook
I don't think Cedar Point will get a T Rex because of the relationship with cedar fair and RMC but they can fit some other rides in like a modern woodie in especially if they move the maintenance buildings somewhere else. Something like Mystic Timbers or Prowler would be a great fit.
Yeah modern woodie would be definitely a good thing because that's one element that parks like Kings Island, WoF and even M.A. hit on but CP is sorely lacking. After Mean Streak closed the only option at CP to ride a woodie is the laaaaaame Blue Streak which is a (borderline) kiddie coaster. Something like Texas Stingray, MT, Prowler, yes please. Or a Mack coaster like Copperhead Strike.
My prediction is after the new Dragster opens, we won't see a new coaster until 2027 and my prediction is we'll see Snake River Falls get removed along with Frontier Fling and we'll see a nice GCI wooden coaster there. The only wooden coaster CP has is Blue Streak so they're in true need of a modern woodie. This GCI I predict will be part of a continuation of the Frontiertown storyline created for SV. My idea for the story is that a bandit teams up with Maverick to take back Frontiertown from the 3 outlaws in SV's storyline. Also, CP has been focusing a lot on families lately so a GCI would make a lot of sense. I also predict somewhere in between Dragster (2024) and GCI (2027) that we'll see the boardwalk get more additions. I predict the second level of the coliseum gets converted into a nice boardwalk style dark ride (maybe a reincarnated pirate ride) I also predict their sling shot to eventually get moved to the boardwalk area and given a nice lighting package similar to Daytona Beach's sling shot. Then, you can put a nice thrilling flat by Gemini. I also predict CP Shores to get something new soon.
Makes sense, except Frontier Fling could get moved to the boardwalk (and be given a new name obviously, like boardwalk fling or whatever) ... I doubt CP outright removes a highly profitable upcharge attraction, even if there's another one like it in the park. An elite GCI Woodie like Texas Stingray or Mystic Timbers, Prowler etc but a little better than those--would be good. Putting that upcharge fling attraction in the family section makes too much sense from a financial standpoint for CF. Just like with Six Flags Fiesta Texas putting their upcharge slingshot attraction on the Fiesta Bay Boardwalk which is mostly a kiddie section.
I think a T-Rex belongs at Cedar Point but I feel like they r gonna wait for someone else to install one first. Plus I think they would really want to try and break some records, as the T-Rex is the perfect platform to do so on.
That’s my bet parts gotta be expensive for that ride and spare train frames gotta be hard to come by there’s Three of these left in N.America oh never mind 4 bat at KI I see dying out
Agreed, they even tried the VR experience…(wouldn’t bat an eye at Mantis/Rogarue being sold to another park as well) . I grew up at CP, but it’s time to keep the Roller Coaster Capital alive.
For me, I can look past a rough, boring, lack of airtime ride experience if the ride has good history. So when I get back to cp now that I have gotten over my fear of coasters. I might like it
Going along with CF not being afraid of removing history, I think it's also time to remove Magnum. That ride is incredibly worn out and almost uncomfortable to ride now, same with Corkscrew. Magnum takes up a ton of real estate and is in a prime position to put something incredible. Also, this entire concept looks really, really good. Well done.
Oh I remember corkscrew the best at CP, because it's one of the few coasters that's ever made me physically ill to the point of forcibly expelling my lunch
well the thing is a stratacoaster has lots of maintaince . i think if ur idea rollercoaster could be made with launch section it would become a new topthrill dragster only faster higher and with more elements
Corkscrew may not be memorable to you but to me in 1979 when i was 10 I first rode it and Gemini and it was very memorable. It's the perfect ride for the people who are not ready for rides like vengeance.
I like the optimism, but unfortunately I've got a feeling chances of it happening are slim to none for a few reasons... 1. Cedar Fair as a whole seems to be a lot more geared toward family attractions these days, so they probably aren't going to invest an exorbitant amount into a giant new coaster right now. 2. The Dragster project is supposedly expensive enough that it scrubbed the next major coaster from Cedar Point's plans, making it unlikely they've got one coming in the next five years. 3. Cedar Point is actively trying not to retire any more attractions until they've increased ride capacity, as they've been struggling with overcrowding the past couple years. 4. Unlike the rides you mentioned, Corkscrew is quite reliable and Vortex's closure gave them a lot of spare parts to keep it going for quite some time. 5. I've heard multiple people in the know tell me that Cedar Fair was displeased with all three RMCs they purchased due to mechanical issues and below anticipated ROI, and as such has no current plans to work with RMC on future projects. Personally, I think Cedar Point's next big coaster will probably be some type of wooden coaster (that probably won't come until the late 2020s), some other park will announce a RMC T-Rex in the near future (BGW 2024?), and Corkscrew will outlive both Gemini and Iron Dragon (and possibly Cedar Creek Mine Ride). But I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Everything points to Corkscrew getting removed. With modern coaster designs it has become more of a carnival ride. I think there is more room in that area of the park to expand as well. Looking around the section where Matterhorn and Scrambler were you can see a few sections that can be reused based on my visits the past two years: - There is a small gift stand that can be easily relocated - Right next to it there is what appears to be a boarded up building that doesn't seem to be used - There's an outdoor employee break area that I never see employees using - The corporate building is probably going to be relocated to downtown Sandusky - They have to decide how much of that maintenance shed around the water tower is needed - There is also a dead zone once you get past the corkscrew entrance I also think the power tower is getting removed, they only have two towers operating at a time and it would make sense to rebuild a launch tower and a drop tower elsewhere. My prediction is 2023 is the last year for corkscrew and the grand re-imagining will open in 2025 while we watch construction throughout 2024.
Gemini is going too. I think they’re going for a height record on the new one. I also think t-Rex. Top thrill is just getting reversed and a new relaunch I think
I am on the same page as you with cork screw being gone soon. But what if they close both cork screw and Gemini. Replace Gemeni with a dueling infinity coaster and a couple of new space themed flat rides and then your prediction also. That would be amazing! Especially with the infinity’s lighting package!
@@ArrowThrills I love Gemini but it is outdated and the only reason I would want to see it gone would be to replace it with another racing/dueling coaster!
I plan to make a video about this, you you can't still this theory but in dragsters reimagine video from cedar point, it says "A new formula for thrills" But, what if they were teasing "A new FORM of thrills" meaning It would be something the world has never seen before. Just a theory
How about... Instead of tearing down coasters we look at the possibility of a 5-6 story parking garage and convert a big chunk of the parking lot back into park space? Cut the parking lot down to 1/5 of its current footprint and increase the capacity, and have room for a whole lot more attractions!
@@KeepRidinCoasters Sooner or later, the park is going to have to make some really huge investments in infrastructure, and the parking structure would help to expand both the park's and lot's capacity. Also, both solar energy generation and EV charging are going to be critical, plus it could be a source of revenue.

Also, Iron dragon might be biting the bullet considering the addition of a family coaster (wild mouse) iron dragon wont be as important to the park.
I think Corkscrew's days are probably numbered. While I don't expect something this big in that plot I would love it.
Well done.
To be honest 4 coasters at C.P. should be on the chopping block. Mine Ride, Corkscrew. Gemini & Magnum
Not magnum :) never lol
Magnum is painful now. I've been riding it for 25 years. It used to be so good.
@@thereason9301 id rather they tear down rougaru
Rougaru is so painful for me
3 of those coasters are fine.
@@_Jeandel_ that ride wasn't good as mantis or rougarou.
Oh I remember corkscrew the best at CP, because it's one of the few coasters that's ever made me physically ill to the point of forcibly expelling my lunch
I love the idea
Nooo! Keep the corkscrew. Get rid of rougarou instead, it’s got a rattle worse than corkscrew.
haven’t been to this park in over 3 years :( but i will be visiting this year can’t wait !
Honestly since parts are an issue I’d love to see Iron Dragon removed and a new Vekoma family invert go in that plot.
Me too
well the thing is a stratacoaster has lots of maintaince . i think if ur idea rollercoaster could be made with launch section it would become a new topthrill dragster only faster higher and with more elements
Corkscrew may not be memorable to you but to me in 1979 when i was 10 I first rode it and Gemini and it was very memorable. It's the perfect ride for the people who are not ready for rides like vengeance.
If you give 2.7 acers to Phantasialand they would probably build 3 hypercoasters 9 intamin multilaunches and 5 flying coasters
Right? Ha
As long as it's not a B&M Hyper or Giga I'm confident it will surpass SV.
😂
Bro we don't need anymore Hyper and Giga Coasters in Ohio were good
Who knows kings island could get a small sized RMC T. rex 👀
That would be legit
I think they are more likely to put an RMC trex in the unused car park down the side of the normal carpark as it is a massive plot of land
I doubt this would happen, but I kinda love it
Thank you! :)
Magnum is coming down too
7:31 Area 57? Come again?
Whoops!! Lol meant 73
@@KeepRidinCoasters or how about 72? Final answer!
I’m going to predict a Mack extreme spinner for this plot of land .
Everything points to Corkscrew getting removed. With modern coaster designs it has become more of a carnival ride. I think there is more room in that area of the park to expand as well. Looking around the section where Matterhorn and Scrambler were you can see a few sections that can be reused based on my visits the past two years:
- There is a small gift stand that can be easily relocated
- Right next to it there is what appears to be a boarded up building that doesn't seem to be used
- There's an outdoor employee break area that I never see employees using
- The corporate building is probably going to be relocated to downtown Sandusky
- They have to decide how much of that maintenance shed around the water tower is needed
- There is also a dead zone once you get past the corkscrew entrance
I also think the power tower is getting removed, they only have two towers operating at a time and it would make sense to rebuild a launch tower and a drop tower elsewhere.
I want an RMC single rail at CP, my home park. I was thinking maybe they would relocate rail blazer, but I like your vision better! 😉
I love the prediction! I wish RMC could make that T-Rex a 300 or more foot drop :) That would be neat! Keep up the great content :)
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!
wild mouse topped steve!!!!!
Tony Clark did say that there next major coaster will top SV.
If Exodus is a Mack, they would probably build this too.
I so hope your right! I can care less about any food options....bring on bigger coasters!
If Cedar Fair took out Vortex at Kings Island......without a doubt they won't think twice about taking out Corkscrew !
I am on the same page as you with cork screw being gone soon. But what if they close both cork screw and Gemini. Replace Gemeni with a dueling infinity coaster and a couple of new space themed flat rides and then your prediction also. That would be amazing! Especially with the infinity’s lighting package!
Or something like twisted colossus and have 3 RMCs in one park
Naw mannn Gemini should stay
@@ArrowThrills I love Gemini but it is outdated and the only reason I would want to see it gone would be to replace it with another racing/dueling coaster!
If they tear corkscrew down, they should leave the actual corkscrews over the park as a decoration
If its replacing corkscrew that would be cool. Maybe even have a final corkscrew tribute
With how rough the single rails coaster can get, why is everyone still drooling over the T-Rex?
I plan to make a video about this, you you can't still this theory but in dragsters reimagine video from cedar point, it says "A new formula for thrills" But, what if they were teasing "A new FORM of thrills" meaning It would be something the world has never seen before. Just a theory
Tear down power tower too
😂
What was Tony supposed to say? "Nope, no coaster we'll ever build will be better than SV, sorry" ?
I know right lol
How about... Instead of tearing down coasters we look at the possibility of a 5-6 story parking garage and convert a big chunk of the parking lot back into park space? Cut the parking lot down to 1/5 of its current footprint and increase the capacity, and have room for a whole lot more attractions!
I wish! But that would cost anywhere from 300 million to 1 billion dollars. That would be amazing if they could afford it
@@KeepRidinCoasters Sooner or later, the park is going to have to make some really huge investments in infrastructure, and the parking structure would help to expand both the park's and lot's capacity. Also, both solar energy generation and EV charging are going to be critical, plus it could be a source of revenue.
RMC, Yes!
Would love!
If this happens, all 6 cedar point coasters (still in operation, excluding wicked twister) will be full circuit.
Wow that’s true too!! Good observation!
That would be the scariest first drop ever, maybe.
I’m curious how the pacing of the T-Rex would be compared to the Raptor
True! Yeah that would be interesting
