It was a surprise interview. He had no idea.
This is just speculation but I think Howard earned a lot of goodwill when he interviewed Hilary Clinton.
He did such a good job with Hillary. If she gave her interview during the 2016 campaign she probably would have been President.
The Hilary interview. It’s clear that if she’d had the balls to go on before rather than after the 2016 election she would have won. It really humanized her and busted a lot of the myths.
