Then I noticed the reduced pinna of Mega5EST 7th Ann, in the graphs, so I EQ'd the Canon 2 to be similar. to M5E.. liked that a lot (less pinna than Canon 2 non-EQ). So I bought M5E, but I didn't get the same engagement from it as the Canon 2, so sold the M5E. Now have the Pilgrim arriving next week.... Seductive is the word I noticed you used... can't wait to compare to my Canon 2. Only one you mentioned that might be an upgrade is the Butastur... that one interests me. PS I take it you didn't keep the Canon 2 after you reviewed it?
Thanks for another comprehensive review! I've been debating whether to pick up the Pilgrim, or save up a bit more and go for the Volare. Would you have any plans to do a review on the Volare? I've kinda made it a point to not make any iem purchases before hearing your comparisons first! 😁
Try just using a hair dryer on the earhooks, they'll quickly soften up and you can remould them to what you find more comfortable. I will end up getting the Pilgrim, no doubt. The tuning is right up my alley.

Might sound like an unusual request. But can you give your views on the Pilgrim vs. CCA Hydro? I saw your video on CCA Hydro and it seems like it punches way above its weight. If CCA Hydro comes close to Pilgrim in terms of performance, it would be a blind buy for me.

The love, level of investment and dedication that you have to the hobby are very special. What you do to the IEM community is certainly relevant! I already own the Performer 8 (love it!!), I agree that the bass is precise but not quite strong. I’m interested in buying the Pilgrim. Do you think they complement each other or there is too much overlap? If you think the overlapping between them is a thing, which IEM could work as a complement to the Performer 8 at this price range? I’m also considering the EM10.

The Pilgrem is incredible as is the DaVinci Either would be a great complete for the P8 Another one worth considering is the Dynaquattro from Bynary Price is also about 250us...so cheaper than Pilgrem. Nice warm old school musical presentation.
well, got the Pilgrim in. Seductive is the opposite of what I'd call it. Has the strangest midbass I've ever heard... look at the graph... bass doesn't start elevating from midrange until 140Hz. 150Hz to 300Hz bass is completely zero. Probably b/c of that missing midbass, the upper mid/treble region seems at the same time lacking and harsh. Strange. So, yeah, not seductive to this ear. To me this is a completely failed tuning. Notice what they did with Noir... put midbass back in, and reduced treble somewhat (same fat/stubby nozzle btw). That is not to offer an alternate tuning, that was to fix a failed tuning. Now that a few weeks has passed, it is clear nobody actually likes the Pilgrim... not even if it were half its price. Show me anyone who reviewed it that says they reach for it vs. other IEMs ... at all. I tried 10 different types of tips in different sizes, even trying putting an O ring at the base of the nozzle. I had a good seal with decent subbass, but I didn't find any 150Hz - 300Hz bass energy. Neither did HBB's graph.
@@ManicMindTrick sure, I can see how that would work., but more like 125Hz and 250Hz. Unfortunately the fit never worked for me, so eq'ing wasn't really an option I'm glad I got to try it for a few days, ultimately flogged it on.
A decent amount of people in the community can afford $400 IEMs. Whereas only wealthy audiophiles could afford an Elysian IEM in the past. Its a very noticeable difference.

They buy these shitty $10 earbuds thinking it all sound the same, and all the rest spending hundreds are just brain-dead.
not brain dead. Its called preference, purchasing power, financial status. Like any other hobby or community, there are very cheap and bloody expensive options. Heck even fountain pens, hair pomade communities and etc have this kind of price ranges
