Just another miracle gadget you don’t need. I need my $30 more. But thanks for showing us.
Great vid. Love your reviews. One thing I'd like to share about the fishing line. The stuff on your spool is known as a "braid", or "braided line". Mono-filament would be the clear stuff you've probably known forever. Couple differences between the two, also reasons I like to use them for a kit like this: 1) Braid can be a smaller diameter for an even higher rated breaking strength. I.E. A 20 lb test braid can be around a 4-6 lb mono diameter. So, you can fit more line in the same space, and it'll be stronger. You could probably pitch a tarp with 30lb test braid. Reason 2) Braid is less likely to retain a memory when wound around such a small spool. What that means is, if you had mono wound tightly around a small diameter spool, when you unwound it to use it, you would see it retain a curl about the size and shape of the spool. That will make it difficult to use and cast, as it will not want to come out straight, but will want to be spring-like, and return to the shape of the spool. Braid won't do this. You'll be able to pull it off the spool, and have no trouble throwing it out and having it fly straight. Remember, though, when you tie your knots, braid is usually a little more slick, and will require more friction in the knot, i.e. more twists.... Thanks for reading. Bonus: braid doesn't stretch so much, and it's easier to feel a fish take the hook, and hooks set more quickly.
I’ve made a complete kit for fire starting, fishing, sewing and tape dispensary nearly the same concept with using those rubber tube “fishing tackle” tubes- I got a collapsible telescopic fishing pole with a small reel (I believe an ice fishing reel) the whole kit is 11”length x 3”wide - wound 3 spools of fishing line, 2 spools of high tensile nylon sewing thread, one roll of leka tape, one roll electric tape, inside the tube I have a small kit of needles, safety pins, waterproof matches, a razor knife, a full nylon fish rope, 3 bobbers, fishing lures, bait holders, and tweezers... it’s very compact and invaluable- have fun preppers! Great ideas are from sharing what we got
Ive found you can cut the tape in half and use the space to wrap waxed twine for leatherwork, or bank line and make it more useful.
I have duct tape on credit card, over 100 ft. 130 lb braided line found in a trash can at the pier
wrapped on carpenters pencil, and 2 sizes sewing needles stored in drinking straw sealed with lighter.
Cost less than $2
Great idea with the straws!!!
PVC for survival situations, let’s check it out.
For $15 I can buy a really decent cigar in a tube that will hold twice as much stuff
I think this is a great idea and own 2 of them!!! Good job on this video and to Exotac for thinking outside the box👍
Perfect gift to the ones that have everything ✋ Thank You Brother!
God Bless America Amen!
I wonder if you could get an xacto blade in there too. It would give you a cutting tool.
Very nice on adding the safety pins, if you've ever had your button on your pants "leave you" you'll appreciate having something to hold them together until you can sew a new one on! Keep walking with our KING!
Good review, like all yours. Like it.....haven't seen your reviews for a while....
God Bless
I think it's a great idea. Just because I've got all that in my bag...I still stand by: one is none, two is one and three is best. You bet your a.. I'm ordering one and checking everything else they have. Thanks for the posting. You're appreciated. 👍👍👍
I've carried nuts/machine screws, finish nails safety pins, split rivets, needles, etc in a metal 35mm film canister these past 50 years. Replenish every so often as req'd. Perhaps Exo Tac has a Suggestion Award Program. Perhaps you might suggest they build a 6 inch Fire Piston. They're 90% there already. Have them include a relief valve at the end to hold the plunger in. Cheers.
I had this same thought. Seems like the cap would be hollowed out for additional items of it isn’t already as well (eg buttons).
I bet the outtakes for this video are great
Ha, just received mine from Massdrop! Good tip on what can be fitted inside - thanks!
That's so cool and cute! I will be making one of those.
probably for less than they are selling it for...and custom, to boot!
Since you have the fire cord I'd try to put a few strike anywhere matches in the tube
I watch your channel all the time. On this one I have to say you should have these items (all two dollars worth) in your bag already. So who would pay 30 bucks for this gimmick. I'm surprised you recommend it.
Confused why you would need a waterproof container for a sewing needle. This thing reads...gucci gadget garbage.
@Bob Jones - Agreed . I have never understood the "mini kit" mentality when a water proof vitamin bottle can be wrapped in duct tape and gorilla tape and holds far more items for less than 10 bucks .
Money talks.
Thanks for the discount Sootch! just went to exotac bought a bunch of stuff including the ripspool and the Titan
Very Cool survival repair kit Sootch00. As always long live the republic my friend.
I wrap duct tape around a bic lighter. 2 uses.
40 S&W Great idea, but actually it’s 3 uses, prevents your box lighter from cracking with the tape around it😊👍
I've never attempted to use it as tinder...may hafta try that. Thanks etron.
I got just one for my EDC. It's just too cool.
I would get one if the added a second spool on the other end with some wire on it, still a cool product
You can push the needle with the cap !
This is the type of thing that you don’t think about until it’s too late
Would have been cool to make it a fire piston also.
Just a quick FYI…compasses find *magnetic* North, not True North.
This is similar to the med bottle I have my repair kit in but looks alot better
Gr8t idea, crazy expensive
Everytime I see cool survival gear, I think of my Dad's never-used gagets and unrotated supplies.
Armageddon happening - "I'm saving it for an emergency."
I love you, Dad.
would you ve able to fit a small ferro rod in the needle compartment?
Joe, I don't have one of these, but just eyeballing this tells me if you could put a small ferro rod in it, there wouldn't be room for the needle, which defeats part of the purpose of the item. I guess you could take a piece of tape and put it around the end of the needle to preserve the point and slide it in alongside the rod, but you'd likely have no room for anything else in the space. And if you try to pack too much stuff in there, you won't be able to get it out. Hell, buy one and try it to see if you can; if it doesn't work, you still have a nice piece of innovative kit to add.
Get a water tight vitamin bottle and wrap it with gorilla tape and cordage .
@@QuantumPyrite_88.9 even thin-walled pvc with end caps (maybe a touch of epoxy to hold the needle). could make quite a few for $30.
@rkaag99 - I'm not slamming the product advertised , but my pocket kit is a plastic cigarette package container available at any tobacco shop for 2 buck$ . Bank line , fishing line and gorilla tape is wrapped around the outside .
Heavy duty , light duty and suture needles are inside . Heavy duty carpet thread and fine monofilament which can be used for sutures or sewing . Small button compass , ferro rod , home made fuel tabs ,fish hooks , sinkers etc .
Needles and fish hooks are together with common clear packing tape and easy to get at .
@@QuantumPyrite_88.9 I'm with you! I wasn't knocking it either. Looks like some good machining. I was simply looking at cost vs functionality. Nothing more nothing less... no lines to read between. Like he said in the video, 'can you go cheaper, sure'. I have 4 family members so I have to multiply the cost of everything. It adds up quick.
Put gun oil in the container and use the needle as an oiler just an idea.
Take a black or red sharpie wand wrap your duct tape around that. Then get an altoids container drop in your fishing line and hooks and sinkers, throw in your matches and needles and save yourself money.
greyman in the getto today huh
I am confused... is it braided line, or monofilament?
Braided line. Stronger than mono and won't take a set and become a slinky, lol.
💚💚💚
This is actually really cool, and even the price isn't too bad. Small little stuff like this always seems to be pointless or too expensive - not the case here
Good find S00tch, thanks for showing us.
Or just throw a roll of duct tape and a spool of braided line and mono with a pack of needles into your pack. Doesn't take up any room at all and it's way cheaper.
a roll of duct tape doesn't take up any room at all?!?
wow
Cool idea but I ain't using duct tape if its not gorilla tape
It will point to magnetic north !
Yes, but only move the magnet in one direction when "loading", usually put water in non ferrous container, float needle on a leaf and allow to settle down and not touch side of container.
Thank you.
A roll of tenacious tape could go far.
Exotac is good kit.
$30.00 ?
This is obviously geared towards city slickers. Imagine how much duct tape, thread and etc you could buy for $30 usd.
I have one in my EDC bag got in a battlebox
For that price it should include the needle.
It does include the needle
50 inches of duct tape? maybe you mean 50 feet? That spool looks a bit larger for it just to be 4 feet of tape...just curious. I saw this on another video and really thought it was a great idea for a camping pack.
Hmmm...okay, I stand corrected. I looked at the site and it says 50" Oh well. When you turned the spoon on it's side it looked like a lot more than just 50" But then again...I guess when you roll that all up.......
I just go to the front desk of the nearest decent hotel and they will give you most of this stuff...save $30.00.
They have monofilament lines at a hotel desk?
@@warriorredeemed215 Of course the above was posted before Covid but usually needles, thread, safety pins, paper clips, maybe rubber bands...if you can think of a disposable product or substitute that might be of use in your kit you can at least ask. Some places do need to know you are staying there but not all places care. When looking keep in mind the more expensive the hotel usually the greater the perks.
Once in Bozeman Montana I needed some monofiliment for water sample cups I was using and was lamenting to one of the clerks that I would need to get to the closest fishing type store. He said "Wait here" and then came back with an old fishing reel and asked "How much do you need?"
True story. Thanks again David. LOL
@@bdh3949 yea. But remember it isn't just the items that exotac is selling. They are selling the organized and highly convenient packaging.
Obviously gathering these items is not so tough, but it is extra work and time. Not to mention as you said not all hotels guarantee said items.
This was in a Battlbox I think. Higher level subscription than I have though.
Braided monofilament line really? How can a line be braided if it's a monofilament? Sounds like the sensible prepper needs to go fishing more often...
www.cortlandline.com/products/braided-mono
Robert what are you talking about? That is great fishing line and is used by high end fisherman. No offense, but have you ever fished?....I mean for real?
@@benningtoncamper2852 Page not found...error?
@@jamescarmean2701 Worked fine 3 months ago...websites change.
$30, wow. That's why these companies go out of business. They really beat you over the head with
these prices. China comes along and makes the same thing for $4.99. I've seen the same fire starter
they make for $30 from China for $9.99. I really want to buy American, but I'm not going to cut my
own throat just so these guys can go buy a yacht.
Looks really good, but I got my doubts that 90% of the people owning it and 99% of those interested in it actually know how to use it effectively...
It´s like many women with a fancy kitchen but no cooking skills, or guys with a workshed, but no skills to back it up...
I´d like to see a bit more of the applications.
Talk about overkill
Slide a couple needles into some corrugated card, tape over the ends and wrap in thread. A sewing kit for a fraction of the size and cost. Wrap some duct tape around a piece of card or the middle of a q-tip and you're set there.
This is just a waste of space and money. It's needlessly overbuilt and borderline useless. Sewing with fishing line is a nightmare, just carry thread
:( everybody got his price, and yours was pretty low...
that's an amazing little kit!
I love your channel but damm why would anyone buy that junk
30Dollar can buy roll of duct tape and spool of braided line and sail needle than this smaller one 😂
too high ,buy, buy, buy, you need more gear
It’s nice looking but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. You can use a pill bottle that come in many different sizes and you can buy an “O” ring that fits the pill bottle and now you have a great waterproof container for a grand total of 0.5 cents for the “O” ring. I think I will fill it with a few cheap items and sell them for $10.00👍😊
Easily hand made, no need to spend $30
This product is way to expensive for what you get. 👎
Too expensive.
Church and state should be kept separate.
You're not required, by anyone or anything, to watch the video or subscribe.
disappointing ,,,,,,,
Crap.
EXOTAC - for when you decide you need overpriced useless Gucci gear more then your own money.... $30 SMH.
Rooster I’m not too familiar with all there products but your comment was VERY funny!😂
gourmet gadgetry..lol
Waste of money here!!! I guess its for that person who has everything?!?!? LOL!
What a joke of a product that is.
Exotac products are overpriced!
the only people that find this old concept innovative is people like this UA-camr that wants to push products and make money. This set of gear has been around for years.
Exotac is overpriced gimmicky garbage 🤷♂️
You gotta be a clown to buy this
