I very much appreciate these reviews.
I just noticed how alike the general color of our pfp's are, so, I thought I would say "hi"🙂 pretty color🍐
Not related to the topic but I really love the embroidery on your cardigan!
I do too :) I wonder if the green one will have some or not
I’m glad you said something because I do have sensory issues and sticky things are a big one for me
Came here to say this too! ❤
Thank you for your preserverent testing and reporting of these handles.
Me, I think if my hands hurt, I would want the cushion of the soft one, and wrap it in some sort of soft fabric (3d printed items can be rough to my skin when I get sensitive)
You might appreciate taking some sandpaper to the items, to make them smoother 😊 printing in high quality also helps with smoothness.
@@jessicaneal8553 good to know, thanks. Good for when my hands don't hurt, tho. Sometimes even smooth surfaces hurt because they're "too hard".
You could try the grip tape for tennis rackets
I love this handle so much. I use it all the time i love the weight.
I've also seen a lot of people using tennis balls, mini tennis balls, and even makeup sponges
I've used the handle. The gaskets like to slip and they're fairly fragile and you cannot buy replacements. I think I would like the handle more if the gaskets were a little longer, more robust and you could buy replacements.
I had a hook push through the end of the rubberised handle haha
One could possibly put some kind of powdered starch on the sticky part to make it not sticky. Ive found that works on most sticky rubber and silicone. But they probably could've made it textured instead.
I have heard good things of a brand called Chunky boy craft that has ergonomic handels. Never tried it my self tho.
I love my chunky boy handles!! They can be difficult to get the hooks in and out of though. So I tend to just leave my most used sizes in mine and use my cheap Amazon “ergonomic” hooks for other sizes. I will eventually buy more chunky boys as it is the most comfy one I’ve tried.
I had one of the boye ones a few years ago and I hated it, it felt so clunky and it actually hurt my hands more as I felt I had to grip it harder!
Did you see the beautiful flowers on your cardi ?
Before I got to the end I was going to ask about your opinion between this one and the 3D printed one, and then you mentioned it 😅 (also if I’m remembering correctly, didn’t that hook get stuck in it?)
!!!! i haven’t done any big crocheted projects recently because my carpal tunnel acts up before i even finish a row, with this device it lookin like i can work on some bigger projects! thank u for sharing
I wonder if something like grip tape for tennis rackets would help with the sensory feeling
I have also had the unfortunate event of my crochethooks with rubber covers to sort of melt when left in a wip for to long of a time or set near a window. they become sort of sticky and oily and leave a residue on your hands and project so I would be scared that it would happen to this handle aswell
That sounds gross, did it come out in the wash or was your project ruined?
@@armedvsokord if I remember correctly it did come out!
It looks like a lint roller that was adapted to be a ergonomic crochet handle!
Definitely good to know your thoughts on the rubber surface. There are not many things that bother me but a sticky rubber surface is definitely very uncomfortable 😣. No thank you.
I managed to pick one of these up from a bargain basket for a pound last year haven’t really given given it a proper go yet though
I feel like it would get awfully dirty with lint and dust in no time, so storing it would definitely need some thinking. I wonder if it could be cleaned with water and soap like those reusable lint rollers and don't lose it's stickiness.
In your last video you said you had to push the gasket over the flat bit in the middle and it was difficult to do! Someone else said they break easily and you can't buy replacements, so would it not make more sense to push it on from the other end and then you don't have to force it over the flattened part! 😊
Would a bit of talcum powder or similar help with the stickiness?
The hook handle looks like a fishing pole
it looks like bottom plug.
Interesting.... I don't have any 'normal hooks' since I've already started with ergonomic ones (I've got hand pain due to hrs of handwriting for study and hours at the computer (also for study) and I've a shoulder injury too 😅😅😅
I know many people love these large handles, but they absolutely kill the arthritis in the my thumbs. Tried a few but no thanks they are horrible for me.
I have severe RA, and I absolutely *love* this handle.
3D printed plastic would be hard & slippery, so what's the point of that, then? Also - I don't know *anyone* who owns/can afford a 3D printer 🙄
I think the craft community conveniently "forget" (🙄) that disabled people exist and have a right to have access to to tools that THEY need, without snotty comments or erasure.
I am so tired of people thinking ASD, ADHD & "neuro diversity" are the only disabilities that "matter", so nevermind caring about anyone else.
The gaskets slipping on the inside is very easy to fix, simply use three at a time.
Spongy pencil grips & makeup brushes degrade quickly, and they are much more of a "sensory issue", and they get *filthy* very quickly.
But sure, sneer at accessibility tools.
Great job 🙄
I presume this is the only video of mine you've seen so you don't realise I'm also physically disabled?
I'm testing out lots of crochet tools to find what's best for me. I acknowledge that whatever is best for me might not be right for you. I'm just trying to show as many different options as possible at different price points in the hopes I can open people's eyes to some options they might not have thought of.
As for what's the point of the 3D printed one? For me it's lighter, which is better for me and my needs. And better for my crochet tension. I'm also told many public libraries have a 3D printer for the public to use.
I totally agree that the craft community overlooks the needs of disabled people but we're in this together. I'm happy to celebrate the increased awareness around neuro divergence while acknowledging there's still a long way to go for wheelchair users like me and folks with other physical conditions.
I don't have a lot of tactile sensory issues but I HATE sticky hands. 🤢
