One of the most beautiful albums she's ever done. Wish I could have been there. I have the DVD also. So much much fun and ballroom dancing. Simply lovely as only Carly can do❤
This entire album is wonderful. So just "My Romance" "Torch" Film Noir " I LOVE this woman especially this side of her. I have this DVD aboard the Queen Mary. It's so , so beautiful and so is she. 🌺 There's ballroom dancing , lighting is perfect. Wish I could have been there.
This is what we get, when Carly controls the notes and having real musical fun in singing this jazzy-style. Carly is always very nice to listen to, thanks Carly from the Netherlands!!!!❤❤❤
The most exquisite love song of the twentieth century delivered by the goddess of romantic ballads. I love the detail in the arrangement, clothes and photography. You can tell the artists are themselves enchanted when they deliver a performance like this.I hope god lets me hear this one for all eternity.
My name is Cale Guillory, and I am from Monroe, Louisiana (where I am still living), and I love Carly Simon’s music. Especially this song. I have watched this video so many times, and I have decided to watch it again, as I think I can come up with different lyrics to the tune of this song, based on the qualities of Hurricane Laura, who just came through yesterday.
What incredible coincidences ... !!!!! It seems that those of us who bear this beautiful name have the same story ... !!! Some of our parents for this topic give us this incredible gift ... today that who is no longer to whom I owe my name ... my mom is when I value my name the most to my parents who are no longer with me I thank them deeply for having made my life the happiest ... for all the places in the world where I had the privilege of being ... there was a piano and someone to play it as in many other stories they played the Theme for us ... the most incredible thing is that EVERYONE had the Theme in your repertoire ... !!!! Mommy to heaven again THANK YOU and to both of you to heaven THANK YOU FOR THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE YOU GAVE ME ... !!!
I love this song, so I was sampling some of the renditions and to my surprise (Not sure why) Carly's was the best. Her voice is haunting and ethereal just like the movie.
@@deanronson6331 thank you so much I love Johnny and I will listen to it a song that you might enjoy if you have not heard it already is Ruby by Ray Charles simular to Laura a song about a beautiful but somewhat mysterious woman it's also connected to a movie Ruby Gentry the song at the end makes a bit of reference to Laura when the backround singers end the record by singing she's NOT a dream
@@johnfulton4061 I'm familiar with "Ruby" and Ray's version of it. I'm a big fan of his, but that particular tune doesn't come close to "Laura" in my mind. One suggestion deserves another: Julie London, "Where Are You?"
Totally hit the mark square with this vid. Excellent music, Carly's voice is flexible, dynamic range, timeless. She performs everything with exception. Thanx for the great vid!!!!
Lead-in with Haunting: There's always someone, haunting someone, haunting someone, I can't sleep easy, cause I'm afraid of dreaming And then the memory of the dream There's always someone, haunting someone, haunting someone Laura is the face in the misty night Footsteps that you hear down the hall The laugh that floats on a summer's night That you might never quite recall And you see Laura on a train that is passing through Those eyes how familiar they seem She gave your very first kiss to you That was Laura but she's only a dream She gave your very first kiss to you That was Laura But she's only a dream Yes she gave your very first kiss to you That was Laura, but she's only a dream A dream, a dream
Thank you for the info on the artist, I love this movie and love the song. Jackie Gleason and his orchestra does a great job of recording this instrumental. Thanks for your comments.

I think David Raskin wrote the music in 1944 when the movie came out and Johnny Mercer (Days of Wine and Roses, Moon River etc etc) wrote the words several years later. I recently bought the movie on DVD and Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Clifton Webb, Vincent Price & Judith Anderson are all very good and Otto did a nice job of directing!
I was just watching this concert tonight. Can you upload Carly's version of YOU WON'T FORGET ME.... It is sensational! Thanks for this one! Her voice is stunning!
every so often one of the older customers who come from my line ask me if i heard this song or watched the movie. i have yet to see it but i love the song.
It seems the various artist involved with LAURA from director Otto Preminger, star Gene Tierney, and Charlie Parkers rendition to Carly Simon version is all good! - Gene Tierney, one of Hollywoods greats!.
My take on it is that David Raskin wrote the instrumental song for the 1944 film, Laura, and that in the following year Johnny Mercer put lyrics to the music. The lyrics are based on the character Laura from the film.

@mjazzguitar A couple of weeks ago, I was watching Season 1 of Saturday Night Live, and Carly Simon was the only musical guest who didn't appear live. Instead, she filmed them ahead of time. They said it was because she wanted to watch herself on the show, but if you're right about the stage fright, that could explain it. Either way, it was a great performance. She always gives great performances.

I wouldn't have thought Carly Simon and "Laura" could be a good match and I thought wrong. This is great!
One of the most beautiful songs ever & I was smitten by Gene Tierney when I saw the movie as a young teenager.

I love this! She is a songstress of the first order! Made this Classic all her own!
Stunning! It is obvious that Carly Simon inhabits this song. Lucky for us we can see her masterful interpretation. Thanks for this!
Beautiful song sung by an even more beautiful woman!
How cool is this! My favorite song, from my favorite movie, sang my one of my favorite singers.
Howard Johnson sung
The laugh that floats on a summer night, that you can never quite explain ... As Benny Green said, the Johnny Mercer lyric brings back one's youth.

They didn't cut any corners with this arrangement, that's for sure. It's unusual now to hear what an orchestra can do with a song.
My take on it is that David Raskin wrote the instrumental song for the 1944 film, Laura, and that in the following year Johnny Mercer put lyrics to the music. The lyrics are based on the character Laura from the film.
