Hi there Lee, it's been fun to see you got the same thoughts on the wing as I had :) And I love to see, that the wing gets you excited too. I ended up making mine a power cruiser capable of 60min and still being the lovely agile speeder. Be aware of the wings can start to flutter on a bad moment - which is the reason I stuffed some extra carbon into the wings. Your motor seams to be a brutal beast on that setup- Currently having the t-Motor F40-PRO II with 2150kv installed with 5" and it's nice. Build two will have take the TOKA motors to the test. Good luck with your wing and cheers from here
nice wing, I'm still learning to fly/crash a traditional plane at speed so I'd probably trash that wing in minutes lol. However I have scratch built a KF2 aerofoil wing from foam board and I'm thinking of doing the stupid idea of no flight control and learning to fly it with just a receiver servos and motor etc. After a hundred or so crashes/battery packs/rebuilds I might be proficient enough to buy a ready made wing. Stay safe Lee.
I'm just about to maiden my Ripper and I based it on your build with the same FC, DJI etc. Would you recommend I set my PIDs to what you have before maiden and then autotune afterwards?
Hi Lee, how did you set up your F411-WSE to have the DJI OSD working? I have the same flight controller board, and it only has 2 UARTS which are occupied by the GPS and the Crossfire receiver. Which means I can't have the OSD from the board on my DJI system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
I just got a hee wing f-01 which is basically the same airframe. Do you know how much reflex I need on the elevons? I couldn't find any Information from diatone or hee wing. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 No you didn't. You did mention the throws and they worked great for me. I flew it today and found I didn't need any reflex. With reflex it would start to pull up as soon as it hit around 80 km/h.
Hello Lee, I am Alexis from France. Thank you so much for all your video on this wing that would help me to build mine. I want also to fly with my DJI Goggles. I have seen that other people also use this FC MATEKF405SE but I guess that your choice is because of size ? In the framekit from your Banggood link, it looks like biblades are note included but what about all accesories for the DJI Air unit ? Last and so stupid question but I am a beginner with FPV wing, I will go with a TBS nano receiver. I have understood that this one should be soldered to FC but whrere do you plug servo ? On the FC ? Thank you so much. Best regards
If you are new then check out one of my build series. A modern build will almost always need a little cabling and soldering but using a Matek FC will help you get it working first time in my experience. See ua-cam.com/video/kHm9mE_IDeQ/v-deo.html for how to wire things up. I am a fan of the 411WSE as it is super small and perfect for compact spaces like this. Best of luck with the build!
Hi Lee! Thanks, another very good video! I am just a little bit confused about the throws, is it 8 mm total for the ailerons or is it 8 mm each way? The same question for the 12 mm elevator throw? All the best, cheers!
Enjoying the series on the ‘ripper’, really piqued my interest. Looking at getting one, ideally cheap and efficient build/flight, I’ve got a ex Nano Talon 2204-1870kv (with 2200mah and 6x4), would that motor be powerful enough? Find selecting motors a difficult issue! Thanks.
The kink in the control push rods is for tweaking the length by bending more or less with pliers since there is no adjustable clevis.

Thanks for making this vid, I just bought this plane and this info is super helpful. Good to know what throws I should start off with.
Helped a lot 🎉 still in this year would love some new pid tuning on this ripper

Do you have any video how you go about setting up and measuring the throws and the diff on setting evelator and alaron throws ?????
I have a lot of videos on simple and complex plane setup. With OpenTX, INAV, Vector, Kopilot and Arduplane...which one do you need?
Awesome review, Lee! 😃
Pretty interesting little wing indeed!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I make my wire links with a z bend kink, to make small adjustments by opening or closing the z-bend, to save weight.
I'm just about to maiden my Ripper and I based it on your build with the same FC, DJI etc. Would you recommend I set my PIDs to what you have before maiden and then autotune afterwards?
I'd leave them at the defaults for the version of INAV you are using and use an Autotune.. Best of luck!
Lee, any chance of you covering ducted fan sizing vs model size/weight similar to the prop/motor videos you did. Please

I did a video on that. If you Google 'dji osd f411 painless360' you'll see it pop up. I hope it helps.
Going to build that wing. I don't see receiver antenna. Where it's located?
I'm using the DJI FPV controller so it uses the same antenna on the Air Unit
Hi there from CA! how are you attaching the heatsink to the air unit?
It has it's own sticky pad and I add a cable-tie too..

Didn't I cover that in the video?

Thanks for posting. That must have been the omission. Glad you got it flying. Lots of models seem to have reflex built in... Happy flying!

@@Painless360 thanks so much. I am going to order and jump into this New world. Best regards
are you allowed to have mortar shell fireworks in your country?

8mm either way, 16mm total etc.

Check out my series on selecting motors and props. That setup doesn't look bad for a starter for 4s.. Best of luck!
Would it run on 2200 3s? For slower and longer flight time
Yes, you'd use the 6" prop in the kit.
@@Painless360 okay thank you :D

Hi Lee, at 10:37, the kink is meant as a means of adjustment with two pliers, pretty crap really, like you I prefer threaded adjustment links :-)
