    As a Packers fan, I used to hate Kaepernick, but for the right reasons, and that was FOOTBALL. He was so great. He destroyed my Packers defense TWICE in the postseason. He went to a Super Bowl and was very close to winning it, and he went to 2 NFC Championships. I hated him cause he was good. He does not suck. Put him in a good team, and he will be productive. There is a reason that a smart coach like Jim Harbaugh replaced a pretty good Alex Smith with Kaepernick. Harbaugh has praised Kaepernick for both his protest and play on the field.

    The NFL is a business. Now more than ever, businesses are sensitive not only to demands on product/service quality, but also to the social concerns of the consumer. The owners are not making any sort of value judgment regarding Kaepernick's chosen method of protest, but you can bet that if they won't sign him it's because they know that doing so would alienate a large segment of their fan base. At the end of the day it's about the money, and the owners evidently feel that the risk that is Kaepernick is not worth whatever his play rewards over and above other options

    The way people get blackballed and attacked in America for speaking a different opinion makes America in some ways similar to North Korea.

    Nobody told Cubans to get over what happened to them. Reminders of what happened to oppressed people are important, and Shannon Sharpe and Rob Parker were simply stating that when black people talk about their struggles, we have to get over it, pray, do not
    be a distraction, and so forth. However, when people talk about what happened to Asian Americans and Jewish people, they are allowed humanity. Also, Kaepernick is a human and as much as other players make mistakes they are allowed to be forgiven, but when Kaepernick wears a shirt, it is a line that some find unforgivable which is ridiculous.

    Comparing Castro to the Redskins really? Something most Native Americans that were surveyed don't find offensive anyways compared to someone who killed dissidents and capped the rights of the Cuban people for decades. People in Miami risked death out in a large body of water to escape that and you see no justification for them being torqued about that? I give up Shannon

    Interesting how multi-racial people identify themselves.. Kaep no doubt identifies as a Black Man, Joy's brothers apparently do as well, but Joy goes in another direction, like Tiger identifying as "Caublinasian" And while that may be true, you get the feeling it means "anything but Black"

    Its ridiculous that this is even a conversation. The dude is keeping himself out of the NFL. All he has to do is come out and say he will keep his social and political beliefs out of the locker room and away from game day. Hes not that good a of a player to take the risk of monetary backlash if you sign him. If he was a Tom Brady or a Aron Rodgers we wouldn't even be having this conversation because he would be worth it. But Kaepernick is not even a starter hes a bench rider. Of course hes not worth it.

    Why does Shannon bring race into EVERYTHING

    • @godbody2356
      @godbody2356 7 років тому +5

      This country was founded on race. "Manifest Destiny" is racist in nature. Thus race permeates EVERYTHING in America. If you don't like it, then do your part to dismantle racism/white supremacy and replace it with a system of justice.

    • @codycherrington2314
      @codycherrington2314 7 років тому

      God Body ok, I agree. HOW DOES THAT PERTAIN TO THIS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM?? I'm not saying in anyway that racism does not exist or that it's not a bad thing, because it is. Cap not being signed has nothing to do with the fact that he's black, it's cuz he sucks

    • @godbody2356
      @godbody2356 7 років тому

      In 2016, Kap threw for 16 TDs and a paltry 4 interceptions. His passer rating was at 90.7 and he threw for 2,241 yards... *ON A BAD TEAM!!!* .... In addition to that, his QBR was better than Ryan Tannehill you know, the guy in Miami he would have been replacing for this season....had he gotten picked up.
      The numbers don't lie.... at this point you might need to look in the mirror and see exactly WHY everything has to do with race in THIS country.

    • @codycherrington2314
      @codycherrington2314 7 років тому

      God Body tf do I have to do with racism? Why are u accusing me of anything?

    • @godbody2356

      Because for you to sit here and say a person who threw 2,241 yards and ONLY 4 interceptions SUCKS..... shows that you were too quick to discount, downplay, and prejudge a QB who white society deems unworthy... regardless of his stats.
      You are part of it.

    So when did this conversation shift from Collin to slavery?

  • @jeffreycouch79
    @jeffreycouch79 7 років тому +2

    In my personal opinion, Shannon is normally right about things. But when it comes to black kap. He is wrong every time. What he said about them needing to get over slavery (which was like 150 years ago) and Cubans not having to get over Fidel Castro (whose reign ended in 2008) is completely different. Your great great grandparents suffered it. You never met them. And there are young adults that experienced the stuff in Cuba. It is completely different. With the dolphins signing cutler, they managed to make an argument that all of America that isn't black is racist no matter what they went through.

  • @marcusrex77
    @marcusrex77 7 років тому +12

    Wow that was great! No body else gets discounted, or told to "JUST GET OVER IT!" But blacks are told that all the time.
    Shannon said: Not the Cuban refugees, not the Jews ...not women..... but hey you black man--- just get over it!

    I honestly don't think Colin Kaepernick is being blackballed by the NFL. I just think he brings too much baggage with him. Teams don't want that stuff around unless you are a superstar QB. Once the baggage outweighs the production on the field, teams don't think its worth it to have the guy.
    If this was Russel Wilson or Cam Newton, this wouldn't be happening. If Kaepernick was playing lights out football and the niners were winning last year, he'd still be on the team or other teams would be lining up to sign him. The problem is, he wasn't doing that.
    Teams put up with Terrell Owens for years because he was scoring 15 TDs a season. Once his production fell off, teams didn't think he was worth it. Hense, why he was let go in Dallas, played one year for Buffalo, one year for Cincinnati and then was cut trying out for Seattle the following season.
    I wish the guy well, but things don't look good for him. I'm sure he could still get a job in the CFL at this point.

    The issue with Kaep is that he wants low end starter money to be a backup but the issue with him is unless you're the panthers or Seahawks, you'd have to restructure your offense and play calling to accommodate him if your starter were to be hurt, not only did cutler play under gase in Chicago but he had a pretty solid season in their one year together. Let's also not forget that Tannehill is a pocket passer who can run if necessary similar to cutler, Kaep is run first and not a great thrower of the football

    I've said it a thousand times in my videos: Black people are not looked upon as ACTUAL CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES. everyone else is an "immigrant", with the full protection of the constitution. They're not saying Black people get over, they're saying FEELINGS DON'T APPLY TO SUBHUMANS, BLACK FEELINGS ARE NOT LEGITIMATE, BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT CITIZENS, BLACK PEOPLE DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO BE OFFENDED NOR HURT.
    Once we admit this, is what what they're ACTUALLY saying to us, that's when we can come up with an actual solution, like starting our own stuff. Leaving the NFL. Leaving the NBA. We have way more than enough rich black families to sign every single Black ball player and entertainer to do our own stuff.
    Once we admit we can do our own stuff, that's when true power will be realized in the Black community. Why are we the top of everything, sports, entertaining, cultural in america? Because we are the penultimate humans.

An institution that not one living African American has experienced. That's not the same thing as exiles who are in large part still alive in Florida. This was too much even for LeShannon. These Cubans have suffered but black people are discounted. Oh was Kaep discounted when he was the highest paid player in the NFL?

    I think Kap should probably just wait till next year because if he does get sign with some team he will have people who have high expectations for him both critics and supporters and if he does not perform great then it will look like a total waste of time. You also have to look at it a football angle kap has missed all the off season so if he does get sign he has a lot of catching up to do. There is just too much expectations he has to go through this year and if he was to play this year I can imagine that all the expectations would effect his play. I like kap and i support what he stands for but I do not think right now is a good time for him to be playing.

    So Miami was just supposed to ignore the fact that he wore a Castro T-shirt?
    They were just supposed to ignore the fact that the head coach already knows and has worked with Cutler?
    On top of that a business does not have to tolerate an employee using their brand to push his agenda. A guy wearing eye paint to honor his father is not allowed in the NFL even though most ppl won't even see the paint and media will not cover the story for more than half a day.
    If Kaep never took that knee and he still ended up unsigned no one would be saying anything about Kaep not having a job. The *only* reason these guys bring up Kaep every show is because he put unnecessary attention on himself. He sacrificed his career for what he believed was a greater good. Now ya'll want NFL teams to give him back his sacrifice?
    If you plan to do something divisive in your company uniform you aught to inform your supervisor at least and either get their support or make a conscious decision to go against them.
    I don't know who's T-shirt Shannon brought up and most of us don't know because whoever it was he tried to use as an example didn't do anything prior to wearing whatever T-shirt to get media attention focused on him.

    So Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Neenum, Blake Bortles, Mark Sanchez, or even Jarod Goff, still have jobs yet, all of them suck, never won a Conference game, let alone taken a team to a Superbowl. Jay Cutler is the greatest Packer Quarterback of all time, basically missed an entire season, retired and somehow has a job? Remember folks, Kaep had a much better TD:INT ratio than any of these guys from the 2016 season. So it's not because he's average anymore.

    If you think the Dolphins would sign a guy who wears Che Guevara shirts and makes statements in support of Castro, you're not smart enough to be a TV commentator.

    Why is everyone talking like Kap is like Aaron Rodgers? He's an above average QB with some issues that is not really worth it having in your organization. And to be really clear, Stephen Ross GAVE Adam Gase the last word on this, the Dolphins are bringing the guy Adam Gase wants and he was the plan A from the beggining, I assume that if Cutler said no, they'd have sign Kap, if they'd not, it's clearly because he wore that Fidel's t-shirt, it has nothing to do with him protesting.

    If Kaep's receivers were 8 feet tall and could reach overthrown passes, or if they were under 5 feet tall and could scoop up dirt balls at their feet, he'd rank in the top 5. Dont believe the misleading stats from his half a season debut last year. Watch the blooper and lowlight reels on UA-cam. I've watched every 49ers game at least twice since he was QB and I've felt this way. (It fealt like an eternity) Ya, maybe the team fell apart, and he lost all ability, but when they were great, they carried him to the superbowl, not the other way around.

    If he's blackballed its his OWN FAULT because no GM or COACH wants a "Sh--Disturber" in the
    locker room! After Aaron Rogers was hurt, Mike McArthy was asked if he wanted Kapernick he said "I have a good room now!

    I didn't favor Kaep's Castro comments or t-shirt, but if they gave him a chance to apologize if the Dolphins would have taken him, I would have been fine. Before anyone says anything, my mother is Cuban and my father is Black. And tbh they hit the nail on the head at 9:07

    I would like to see Colin Kaepernick play in the NFL because he is a talented football player. If do not play in the NFL or given the opportunity to play in the NFL then we all should take a knee during the national anthem. I will continue taking a knee during the national anthem in support of the human race and Colin Kaepernick.

    I wonder how supportive the Miami community will be of the Dolphins when Jay Cutler leads them to a 6-10 season. I'm sure they will say Jay Cutler was the right man for the job after Week 17, right? The Dolphins will get exactly what they asked for with Jay Cutler. An empty stadium the final month of the season, and another losing record. They deserve it.

    For those that don't get it, Football is there for entertainment purposes. A team is there to win games, but also to entertain fans. The better a team's record, the more money they earn. Television money gets distributed throughout all the teams, that means the cowboys and the browns make the same in that respect. The money from merchandise and ticket sales goes towards the owners and teams directly. When your last team was 2-14 that doesn't bode well for you. When you alienate no only the roughly 1.4 million people employed in law enforcement, but their families and friends that probably puts you in having 8 million or so to give a soft estimate of people that don't want to see you play. A quarterback is not only a player, but he is supposed to be a team leader, the glue that holds together the offense. I would be willing to bet that guys on his very team have either friends or family in law enforcement. So if you aren't performing well at your job, the antics get an even brighter spotlight. Owners most likely feel as many fans do that the antics are getting more effort then the actual thing he's getting paid for. T.O. was a really good receiver, but it was his antics and attitude that teams didn't want to deal with, no matter his abilities. He was locker room poison. He hasn't changed his stance, and is completely un-apologetic. That is his right, but it is also the right of the teams to not employ him.

    Blackball implies that the owners secretly colluded to not hire him. I don't think that's the case. I think it's just that nobody wants him. And it may be that they don't want him because of his controversial means of protesting, but that's still not blackballing. That's just nobody wants a backup who brings controversy and distractions with him.

    I respect Shannon a lot and his obvious intelligence on many matters, but I find it unfair to call out or experience opinions about other communities. Saying that the black community is the only one expected to "get over it" is unfair and not true. It shows a lack of depth when comprehending atrocities that have happened to other communities and the lasting trauma and effect its had for them. Atrocities that happened within the last 60 years. That grandparents and parents can still relate too. When talking about black communities and the strife they have suffered, I believe and learn from Shannon. Other communities though are also allowed to have strife, and it's up to everyone never to downplay how others feel.
