  • Noosa Heads is made up of several points Granites, Boiling Pot, National Parks, Tee Trees, First point and Main Beach. When it breaks the point can get crowded like no other point on earth. Even Snapper in Queensand or Malibu in California are this busy.

The Noosa locals need to consult the Lennox locals as they have their point under control and no one dares paddle up the inside or sit and wait in the waves path!

This should be just common sense and "Surf Ettiquette". More waves to go around, less are wasted and reduces the likelihood of injury. Have a look how it should be done: ua-cam.com/video/SMhpF3lsw1U/v-deo.html

Locals don't really go near the wave unless it's solid, I was guess about 90% of the guys in the water are from down the coast.

Noosa locals have to wait a decade for the fat wave to even break and then everyone and their grandparents hit it all at the same time before it's gone the next day .

I started surfing at Noosa in 1972. It was was incredibly crowded somewhat like this then. The main difference was weekdays and out of cyclone season, it was fairly uncrowded.

It's always been busy. Right around at Granite early 90's wasn't too bad. Most of the local shredders would hit Tea Tree or the hard core would go deep deep boiling pot where we use to call it Eno's. The groin half way down the beach was good when the points were this size and crowded plus you can't forget the Noosa River mouth, it had it's moments for sure. I have lived in Ireland now for some 20 years, it's a cold water paradise but I do miss the dawnies at Nashoes' in me boardies!

I though Snapper was busy but Noosa is a different type of busy. More people at Noosa just sit in the path of the waves hoping for someone to fall. Where as snapper people are trying to get back out out the line up. However the drop in factor is next level. Once you get a wave at Snapper you have to stay super busy to keep it and discourage anyone from just dropping in and burning you.

They are inexperienced! Its the same at snapper and the pass, its far to easy for people to get out who have no right to be out there. They sit down the line hoping for someone to fall off. Can be quite dangerous especially on bigger days when boards start getting bailed. Watch big days at Burleigh, Currumbin and Kirra and you won't see it, far to hard to get out.

I see this in rock climbing too. The etiquette of old, which allowed lots of people to have a good time, has gone out the window with individual needs. Think of your community, not just your own experience. Learn the ways that we can all
get along together in a sustainable manner.

    • @aaronjosephs6233

It really has nothing to do with previous etiquette. Although I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about with climbing since most climbing spots are not very crowded yet compared to surfing. It's simply that the crowds are more and more people haven't changed etiquette hasn't changed.
Look at the number of people out in this clip some other spots have even more there's really only so much you can do in this situation

Byron is just as bad and arguably worse. As for the Goldy, forget about it! My 15 year old son is interested in learning to surf, have to tell him it's a thing of the past, unless you've got millions to spend at wave pools. Better off free-diving with the Sharks, or something, than try and deal with people these days. It's the same with golf, over-crowded courses with all the gear no idea 'players'! Same with fishing, too many people, including Noosa. I do encourage him to bodysurf, pair of flippers, a shore break and good to go!
