Apology: The doorbell I showed and demoed in this video is not compatible. I thought it wasn't working because the account I was using signed out of the eufy Security app and so I faked the scene (gasp!) and failed to fully test its compatibility. I apologize for not being accurate and will do better. Here is the list of officially supported cameras: support.eufy.com/s/article/Permanent-Outdoor-Lights-E22-User-Guide-T8L02#_idTextAnchor000
Brett, I was considering permanent lighting from a nationwide company but the cost for a two story home was 4200.00 😮. I opted for these e22’s from Eufy, for a price tag of 350.00. I did the installation myself and your video really gave me the momentum to do it. I saved a ton of money in the process, thanks for the inspiration and video.
Please help my sons got me these but my soffet has holes and i dont know if i could install or if i should even bother if theyll hold up. Not sure ithey can be screwed onto soffet
Have have seen others but a thin piece of long would they would attach to the woods slats and then put the lights on that. It might be a pretty simple option.
I have a porch like yours, but I put by closer to the wall so kinda gets washed out by the window. Should I move them closer to the end of the porch roof? Would it be better to shine on the ground and more noticeable?
You would need to have enough extensions to be able to make it all the way to the back which I don't think it comes with that much. There is a 50ft extension kit that has lights on it that can help you get from the front to the back so it is one continuous line of lights.
I could not figure out how the eufy life app decides what time zone I'm in, so the schedule doesn't work. I've just created automations using Google Home to control the lights.
3 Things to keep in mind when installing Lighting 1: Be considerate of your neighbors, set a brightness that is less likely to be a bother but still bright enough for what you want. 2: Power usage, some lighting may only add a few dollars to your monthly bill, others may be more than a few, Brightness and how often they are on of course playing a part in that. 3: As a bonus, you could power your lights with a small inexpensive 600VA 300w UPS (or higher depending on how much power the lights use). Helpful during a power outage with the added benefit of surge protection.
I would make them static colors not color shifting or pulsing. It gives me nostalgic memories of motels back in the 60's that would have colored light bulbs outside their rooms and around their properties. Back then you had never saw that before and it was really cool !
Question, i have 2 eaves one upstairs thats 30' and one on the first floor thats 50'. If i used 100' is there a way to shut off the lights that would be going up the side of the house?
Yes but it also comes with a extension line that you can use from the bottom level to the top level that has no lights on it. For this home I did need to do that but I used it in the garage to lengthen the power cord.
@@TechWithBrett How long is that extension? Also, does it happen to have a Y Splitter? I have an outlet in my soffit but it is on the inside corner near the middle instead of closer to the end which would have been more ideal for something like this!
Can you set custom length and cut the cords to use the extensions? Or it's you have to measure perfectly and use the extensions when on string ends only?
Toward or away from the house? If to the house you might not see the actual light as much but it should brighten up the house and look cool. Away from the house and you would just see the bulb light.
@TechWithBrett what distance did you install these away from you house? I've seen other manufacturers say 2-4" from the house, but yours have a nice throw angle that looks pleasant.
So on the right and left side of the home the soffit was only about 6" deep so it is sitting around 5" I think. On the center it is much further away but they did brighten up the entire porch which was great to see. You could do some quick testing before putting them up to see what depth you like best.
These are fabulous. That price does seem steep but when you consider the price of a regular string of permanent outdoor lights, it is fairly in line with what it costs to put a product outdoors that will last through the weather. I looks fairly intensive in terms of installation time and effort, but if it saved me from putting up Christmas lights and taking them down yearly, then it might come out even.
Hey Brett, what if i wanted to light different areas of my house? Like my roof and above my garage, which are not linked (three level house for example). How can i separate the set into two different lights? Can i buy a separate controller and power supply? Thanks
@@frankm2385 When it is that close it will show more of a triangle light than a curved one but will still look great. If it appears too bright you can turn down brightness a bit.
Hi Brett, quick question. I have a 2 story home and will most likely need 2 sets. Will the power controller’s synchronize with each other if I have 2 separate controllers?
They do in a way. After adding both devices to the app, when you are creating a schedule you have the choice to select both devices for that schedule and scene. When they turn on, they will then both play the same scene.
It is not Matter compatible. It works through the eufy life app but I don't see the integration specifically say the E22 is supported. www.home-assistant.io/integrations/eufylife_ble/
Struggling to make a decision on these versus the GOVEE original - similar in price today since it is Prime day. I like the white lighting on these but like the additional lighting options that Govee has - for example the curtain lights. Is there a clear winner in your opinion.
The point you brought up is a good reason to get Govee as it integrates with other Govee Products. Make sure you are looking at the Lights 2 as those are more comparable to the E22 in the video. But the E22 has a wider range of white colors.
Can i ask what doorbell camera you have as my lights dont detect humans and shine as quick as yours did then. It takes a good 20 to 30 seconds to detect a human
So I fibbed a little as I found out this doorbell camera wasn't supported. I fully tested again with the SoloCam S340 and it took about 4 seconds to turn on the lights after it had detected me.
@TechWithBrett does it say what cameras are and are not supported? Im trying to get to the bottom of which camera work quickly and which cameras are pointless with this system. Thank you for getting back to me :)
The Govee app has a few more customizations but compared to the Lights 2 these have more options in warm white options but the overall color is similar.
The max length for these are 150ft. You would need 2 100 ft kits and then 2 50ft extension kits. Then you need to program them each individually to turn on to a similar pattern.
@@TechWithBrett Thank Brett, I have Eufy 2k doorbell and installed E22, and when I add it into Wonderlink, it gives an error that "Camera device not found." Do you have any video for that setup with the Eufy security app and Eufy security integration?

The lighting profile is very similar to the new lights 2 but these do get a little more warm and white. eufy does have better integration with eufy cameras and Govee will work better with Govee products and does have music sync integration.
These are really nice, but I'm i huge fan of led strips in aluminum channel, less light, but a massive gain over these for animations and effects. Also,my channel and strips are pretty stealth, I absolutely hate the look of lamp cord all over my house.
Tiktok has them for half the price, the cable on these lights should be round instead of flat, instalation for exposed beams under the eves makes it hard compared to flat surface,
I have the first gen. lights and I can tell you that the App is buggy as hell. As of today it still needs a lot of work. Govee is a much better option in my opinion.
I’d hope that people using these aren’t using any animation unless it’s a holiday day, what an annoyance it must be to have your window facing the stupid animations. I am a big fan of Eufy, installed 6 on two properties so far.
In the app they have the white options without animations as the daily lighting which I think looks really nice year round. Yes, be cautious of neighbors and they definitely don't need to stay on all night either.

These look a lot brighter and have more saturation than the last model. Thanks for doing this!
I’ve got a section that is only going to use about half of a strand. What do you do with that. It will also be connecting to an upper roofline.
Hey, do you need the homebase for the cameras to detect and turn the lights on like that at the end? I’m trying to find this out thanks.

Do you have to use screws
You don't have to bit if the adhesive fails it's nice to have a backup.
Is there a under eve cover that would be able to hide the cable part while having holes for the lights?
I have seen a few people do this on various forums but not sure what specific product they used.
Hi, What about adding music to the light show
What about when the beams are on the outside? That's for flat surfaces mostly, some homes have the 2x6s sticking out of the eve
I have seen others attach some boards a few inches away perpendicular to the 2x6 so they can then mount the lights.
Use galvanized perforated hanger tape. That's what I use as a track and mount the lights onto that.
